I miss my sparklies, too.  But, for the good o'the Crew, I'll forego'um.

I still think Battle Creek-Indian Mounds Regional Park.  The prize earned?  They have moto-X ("Have No Fear"), and x-country races.

I'm not convinced Crosby.  Too many "no Crosbys", ya know?

Zephy, the 'CCO guy said about chew, "He doesn't discuss the Clues much, does he?"

I said, "No.  He's pretty closed-mouth about them.  But he puts up a good front."

About 20 min ago, Joe was taunting treasure hunters by playing Love the One You're With and saying it is a Stills song and there is no Stills park.

Were we on the news at noon on channel 4?

So sumbuddy knows ittiz not a CSN&Y song...  That tells me The Clue Writer does, too.  So, no Crosby!

Yeah, yeah.  I know.  Rubber room for me.

#1 in a park... thats it
#2 --Ice/Frozen Water-- waterfall is straight back from Homer
#3 --Neither cliff nor waters edge-- OK, but cliff+waters edge is waterfall, which you could hear
#4 --going with the whole homer and football thingy here
#5 --Branch-- Mississippi and MN Rivers branch here,
--and the giant falls could be for those who haven't picked up the waterfall, or just a freudian slip??
#6 Gotta follow the CSNY reference... but wondering if it isn't ref--erring that we go next door to Hidden Falls, becasuse of no Crosby
#7 --Battle Creek quick change...( I am 9 hours ahead of you... )

What am I missing? What am I adding too much too, hmmm... I can feel mistakes here, but can't tell why...

Umpire, Kenny's trying to call you on your cell.  Call him at home please.  If you don't know the number, it's still under Ted's name.

I'm still not sure about the siren calls/giant falls or the what's that you hear lines. My line of thought is a storm siren heralding a severe storm or tornado, which proceeds to blow down a large tree. I don't know if there've been any storms that have caused damage to Crosby's woods or not though.

What's that you hear? I'm thinking this should refer to a sound that you could hear now... and it seems to be something which may cause fear... I believe this leaves out airplane and train noise (wouldn't cause most of us to pause what we are doing) but the explanation, it was here when we moved in... who's "we", and who "moves in" to a regional park? Therefore, I'm assuming that this makes reference to people moving into the area or the state of Minnesota.

Just got back from Crosby. There's a crowd down there that's for sure. If tonights clue doesn't rule out crosby then that's where everyone will be tomorrow. Get there early if you want a parking spot, cause there's hardly any.

Last night Lina and I made some hot chocolate with Kahluah and threw it in a thermus before heading downtown. It was really tastey, but we didn't drink it all. I just went to clean it out, and the stuff is still warm inside! And not luke warm, really warm!

buzzgirl... for me, i think siren and storm too. and giant falls = tree. there's a tree along the path at crosby that is just HUGE. like a 4 foot diameter. that's what i take that. as for the sound and alarm, i think it's the cannons from ft. snelling.

the whats that you hear, have no fear ... before we moved in it was here thing:  Ever listen to Joe Soucheray?  He talks about this periodically in detail on his radio show throughout the year.  I think this is one of the few things the Medallionators have picked up besides the rest of these noodles you all have done.  Keep noodle'in it out!

Today he mentioned everyone thought it was "certain places" because of the Crosby, Stills and Nash song. He didn't mention where that certain place was... leading me to belive everyone is right about Crosby. Then he went on to say some stuff about a different Nash, sounded off the map.. disinfo.

I like Crosby. I think I'll be out there asap.

But that is a brewery- which is alcohol produced via fermentation - a distillery has stills - which is the concentration of alcohol via removal of H20 via vapor

Where is that plant where they were making all the ethanol? not in the TC area?

Okay, my husband doesn't want me to hunt tomorrow night...wants me to be home.

I've been telling him for months that I would be pretty much unavailable throughout the hunt because I want to be dedicated. I don't do much for myself as a lot of you know I have 6 kids (so now you know the reason for the screen name)LOL. I do and I do for them and my hubby. So, when the hunt rolls around each year since I try to get out as much as possible. So, what do you with spouses who don't hunt? Do you have the same problem. I hate feelig quilty when I go out and hunt.

outta, my hubby doesn't hunt either, but we just have an understanding. He told the kids on clue 1, "you won't see your mom now for about 2 weeks, so just pretend she's not here, even when she is". I make sure the kids have dinner, put them to bed...and I'm out.

By now we all know that Vincent Bugliosi wrote Helter Skelter. He was also from Minnesota. But today's clue makes note of a "glove". The most famous glove I can think of is the OJ glove. Vincent Bugliosi also wrote a book on the OJ trial.

Two references to the same person. There has to more to this. He also won the "Edgar Allan Poe Award" twice. Poe, was also a "poet".  This  fits as well for clue 4.

In clue 5, there are references to "prize" and "helter skelter". Bugliosi won the Poe award for HS.

I have been thinking how this all ties together, but can't come up with a thing. Anyone got some idea's???

Why would they pass out a photo copy of his map of crosby? It's garbage and you can get better ones on the web. Still, very cool of you to go to bat for him it's BS that people pull that crap on a guy that's into the hunt just like them.

Regarding Eric's post.  The only thing I can think of that he talks about a lot is, Our Mother Earth.  Also, Joe wrote a book titled, Modern, Caring, Sensitive Male: A Curmudgeon Columnist Looks At Life.  People also call in and discuss how many cars, mowers, and stuff with engines they own.  They have a rating system for how many pistons or something they own, but I can't remember what they call that.

I have found a place in St. Paul where the eagle flys with the Dove. A stained glass window of Saint Paul's Episcopal Church..

From the website

The right medallion depicts Christ being baptized by John. The descending Dove; symbol of the Holy Spirit is directly above the clouds. The symbols in the background are the Sacrificial Knife at the peak of the lancet; beneath the medallion are the Waters of Life; a Baptismal Font is in the border. St. John is shown with his Book of Revelation and his emblem the Eagle. The tracery section contains the Anchor and Fish, symbolic of Salvation through Christ.

For what thats worth...

Well... this might be a stretch, but it sparked a memory of something I read a long time ago. Pierre "Pig's Eye" Parrant, St. Paul's first "official" settler, once used a cave in the Crosby area to store his ill-gotten hootch. I can't recall if the name of the cave was Carver's Cave or if it was Fountain Cave. I believe the cave was filled in or destroyed when Shepard Road was built.

I don't know if he actually distilled booze in the cave or if he just stored it there.

After seeing some of the clues from previous years and what they referred to, I have come to the conclusion that there is NO such thing as a "bad guess!"
