My find for last night: a "magic tree" air freshener wrapper. I almost peed my pants. Alas, it was so old the plastic wasn't even *crinkly* any more. Still, I like the idea of "magical tree" referencing the actual puck.. maybe there's a tree on it, maybe it's hidden in something tree-like. Maybe it's actually made of wood.

Okay, banging my head here about the magical tree... so everyone knows that trees can’t talk or perform magical spells (outside of books and movies) so, maybe the "magical tree" is one that simply looksdifferent from the ones around it? Perhaps it’s larger, spookier, or just simply looks out of place compared to trees around it? Maybe it has many odd-looking branches, and is covered in lichen?

I hope to get down there to scout out a couple areas before it gets dark. I am not going to be paying attention to the ground, at least not at first. I am going to be looking up!

What about this?

"Parking lot leads past woods and weeds" - what if you came off the parking lot, going SE, heading towards the path that has the 2 & 3?  Instead of taking the path off the turn around and going past 1, etc?

Then you'll be "passing" them, 2 & 3, and going between 3 & 4 when you hit the path.  Actually, you'd be on a direct line with 4 (if the Crosby map's any good).

That is all.

When I was first out at the park, one of the rafts was near the number 3 post. S'pose the doesn't make a difference now.

You are talking the path from the west side of the parking lot???

I'm scared now.  The other day Reg posted not to believe anything he says in here!  Yikes!  No offense Reggie, but you did say that.  ;)

Where is the octagonal flower garden?

Home after morning digging.

What is funny about this clue is still how spread out everyone is. The park is packed with cars, but there isn't a general consensus about which tree is the next marker and where the 11th and 12th clues will take us.

Zephy, good point.  I tend to concentrate on one clue at a time and forget the rest.  And that could (most likely izz) a good noodle on yesterday's Clue.

No, no path.  I'm looking at a Crosby map.  If you go out of the parking lot towards the SE through woods (?) and weeds (?) you'll eventually connect with the path 2 & 3 are on, but will have gone past them and come out where 4 should be (but have read it isn't).

I'm taking literally "parking lot leads past woods and weeds."

BUT...  And I've not been down there like the majority have, there's a portion on this map that could also be parking:  north of the turn-around/many sided flower bed.  If so, the path off the turn around would then bisect the two sections of the parking lot, and lead right to 2.  Which if then you took a right you'd be heading for 3.

Again, I've not been out to Crosby since Friday and am trying to noodle sight-unseen.

Because I can't concentrate on anything else and I'm stuck at work!!!  :(

how was the diggin leela? It is crazy, I think it was the perfect 10th clue. Narrowed down the general vicinity, but didn't give too much away. I also can't help but feel that the magical tree doesn't refer to an actual tree. Lonely and forsake , the puck lies naked... that just makes me want to stay out of the trees. Not saying I won't dig there though ; ) don't want to be called a hypocrite later!

I am exhausted and going to take a nap. Digging was fun this AM, but I was running out of energy.

To anyone who has my cell number, if it is found please call.

"And finally, what about the magical number seven? What about the seven wonders of the world, the seven seas, the seven deadly sins, the seven daughters of Atlas in the Pleiades, the seven ages of man, the seven levels of hell, the seven primary colors, the seven notes of the musical scale, and the seven days of the week? What about the seven-point rating scale, the seven categories for absolute judgment, the seven objects in the span of attention, and the seven digits in the span of immediate memory? For the present I propose to withhold judgment. Perhaps there is something deep and profound behind all these sevens, something just calling out for us to discover it. But I suspect that it is only a pernicious, Pythagorean coincidence."
