I think the pity party should wait till we have a location, and the clue explanations. I also agree with Allison about waiting another week for the RHB- that way more people can free up their schedule, and some of us can put together the door prizes. At least we have a sweet shelter for the RHB, and the power is on for free!!!!
The pity party has nothing to do with the park. We usually just go to the bar the night the thing is found. I'm going tonight and if people go again tomorrow, I will go then too.
The Rehash has traditionally been held the Sunday after it is found. I say we keep with that tradition. It is already on people's calendars. The superbowl doesn't start until 5ish and often we leave the park by 3 - so there is time to make the movie.
pity party- always the night is found, it's so we can sit and bitch for hours and lean on each other trying to get this thing out of our system and return to real life.
GW at 7 tonight is where I'll be.
we'll do that other stuff at the RHB which is this sunday I thought, I don't know why we are trying to push it back now, it has been scheduled like that for a while now.
KT- yeah that was how the first pity party was formed in 00, it was found early we all had that block of time set out to dig so no one had plans and everyone was going to sit at home and mope so we decided to meet up.
I'm going on over 34 hours of being awake right now. And that was with only having 4 hours of sleep. I was all ready to camp out in the park for the next two nights. I had my first two vacation days planned since I started this job a year ago. Damn! I'm hallucinating as it is so it's probably better this way anyway. I'm also a puddle because of my lack of sleep so if any of you see me bawling it's because if that and not that the hunt is over. Really. :-(

Jesus Snowjester! Cat person?!?! You make me sound like some kind of event planner!! I am going to cry tonight at GW if they are out of french fries again!!
The RHB is always the Sunday after it's found, at the park it is found. I don't know why it wouldn't be that way again this year. The Superbowl isn't until 5. The thing has been planned for a long time so we knew not to make plans, I know not everyone is going to be able to make it but everyone won't be able to make it next week either. Instead of getting into an argument over it, we stick with tradition. I know the cooler crew is a'changin but we gotta have some things stay the same. Plus by the time a week from Sunday comes around I'm going to be so disconnected from this thing mentally it won't be as fun.
Where's Terry V. when you need her? If we always have the rehash the Sunday after it is found, then we always know when it is. It was announced a long time ago in a thread on the main treasure hunting page.
The Pioneer Press has confirmed the winners in its annual Treasure Hunt. The medallion was found at St. Paul’s Crosby Park just after 3 p.m. Tuesday.
A West St. Paul family – Judy Melville, her son Ryan Melville and her son-in-law Hayward Estepp – followed the tenth clue published in the Pioneer Press to find the medallion under the bark of a large fallen tree branch. "One of the branches was down and the bark came off the branch when it came down," Ryan Melville said. "We pried up the bark and found it." The Melvilles and Estepp said the trampled, dirty snow around the tree made it clear other searchers had searched near where the medallion was located. However, Judy Melville noticed the snow beneath the fallen bark was white, so the group pried the bark up with tools they brought and discovered the medallion.
The Pioneer Press will introduce the winners and award prizes at a news conference at 6 p.m. today – Tuesday, Feb. 1 – at the Pioneer Press’ downtown St. Paul headquarters at 345 Cedar Street.

LOL SnowJester. That's too funny. But I'm old, so I get confused easily. ;)Â
I'm VERY glad it didn't go to the 12th clue- at least the finders had to use their noodles, and there wasn't a mosh pit situation.
