8th Annual Re-Hash Bash

Submitted by THX 1138 on

The cooler crew is an online community that is made up of folks with a commonality
that involves gathering in parks in the dead of the winter and because we have this
obsession in common, we find other parts of us that have commonality too. - TerryV

Who goes to a picnic in February?

The Re-Hash Bash is always open to all Diggers, Hunters, Clue-Writers and Lurkers. Discuss the Medallion Hunt, and have a good time with those of like obsession. It's a great time! The Re-Hash Bash is a family affair. Spouses and kids (even toddlers) are more than welcome! Come early, stay late and eat, then eat some more. It's a potluck deal. It really is a fun time. It helps bring closure to the hunt for the year.

Another fantastic get together!

The CoolerHeads are a group of people who participate in the
Pioneer Press Medallion Hunt during Winter Carnival .

The Bash began in 1998 at Cherokee Park. It is always on the Sunday after the Medallion is found, and is held at the location where it was found. The link above is where all the clues were analyzed (over-analyzed !), accepted, rejected, discussed.

What you need to bring.....

  • Bring a dish to share: dessert, salad, hot dish, whatever you like.
  • Bring your own drinks.
  • Bring your own plates, cups and utensils.
  • There will be a fire. logs are needed !
  • Check the forecast, but come prepared for "changing" weather.
  • There have been gas stoves and charcoal grills in the past.

WILL WE SEE YOU THERE??

King Boreas aka Ian

Since the Cooler Crew has grown substantially, this year I will bring 2crockpots of Sloppy Joes.

Did I read this slogging somewhere?

Does someone know the finders?

Traditionally, when possible, the finders are invited to the rehash bash.  It would be nice if someone knew how to reach them.

"you mean you didn't know? you're required to provide your own rubber chicken. and a white towel and bottle of rubbing alcohol."

(Buzzy makes a shopping list: lessee, Twin Cities Magic & Costume Shop should work for the rubber chicken; a white towel from Target... I may have one in my linen closet though... wait... what purity level should the rubbing alcohol be? Would 75% isopropyl do, or do I need the 99% stuff?)

Cripes... and here all I thought I'd need to bring to the RHB was a simple pasta salad or something...

;)

99% is preferred.

Just DON'T BRING potatoe salad...

Nope....leave that up to green.

Did someone fall ill on it during a past RHB? Don't worry though, I like potato salad, but I don't like *making* it for large groups of people. My pasta salad is just as good and doesn't require all-day potato boiling. :-)

I love when opportunity knocks....

The very first rehash bash, green brought no less than 24 pounds of the stuff!  It was enough to feed an army...and most of it went home with her.

Buzzy, don't forget to wear your white 'muffs.  Gotta wear white ear muffs.  Tradition, you know...

  • Whew* One more thing on the shopping list.

Say, where DOES one buy earmuffs nowadays? I haven't seen them on the shelves in ages... perhaps I'm just blind. Maybe I could wear a white balaclava in case I can't find the earmuffs... then I can come to the RHB as the "Unknown Digger"? :)

'Night all. Can't wait to meet you on Sunday!

well whoever brings chips-PLEASE bring a bowl to put them in!
1/2 the bags never get opened and eaten because there is no 'easy access' ;)

I will be calling the finders today and hopefully get them- They (and their family)have been graciously invited by the Cooler Crew to the screening at noon on Saturday already- so whoever wants to chip in for that, if they even go to the movie, can pay me at the movie on Sat -if everyone gave 50 cents each it would cover it.

ALSO note:I will have the last of the Cooler Crew scarvesat the RHB- I think I only have a couple left- I have one saved for OT still-will she be there? They are $10 each.
