Yes, the original logo will be entered by default, however there is no original crest so I believe we will be picking a crest either way.
And official colors! I vote for Cooler bleu!
Good Idea!!! When we get to voting we can also vote on colors if everyone agrees. What are some thoughts on this?
I believe the original concept was to vote on a logo. The pool of logos will include the original so if the majority prefer that then it will have a fair chance like the rest.
There will also be a vote to decide if we also want to have a crest.
Then of course there will be a vote on what crest will be used should we choose to use a crest as well.
I think as far as the background colors and such on the logos and crest, it shouldn't be a factor. If it's the same design and the only thing changed is the background then all submissions might want to be included as one single item. Different backgrounds work in different settings for web pages, shirts etc.

THX I undestood what you were saying. I think a thread just for the submissions would be worthwhile and work better for everyone.
I was going to post them on coolertimes but hopping from here to there is kind of a pain for looking and voting.

Whos concept was this? Was there a vote to even see if anybody else wants a vote? Or was it all decided in the last couple days by a select few? Having the old logo in is forcing a vote that some people might not even want. I'm personally not against it, but it seems that all this stuff (whether or not there even is a vote) is being decided for us.
There will also be a vote to decide if we also want to have a crest.

Here is my thought on this.
If we vote on logo/crest whatnot. People can vote for no change or they dont want a crest. This is definately an option. That way if enough people vote to not do anything that is there choice! I think we are trying to make the best effort to make sure that the few that have been around discussing this are not the only ones making the decision. I believe it should be a group effort!

What about the members who aren't here after the hunt? They won't have a vote. Is there a number, maybe based on the people in the Invitational, that there has to be a certain percent of members voting one way or another (new logo/stays the same) to make it a valid vote? Similar to local elections where the ayes or nays must be in numbers at least as high as registered voters in that jurisdiction.
Actually, I think in local elections it's only the ayes that have to be at least half of the registered voters. By default, it remains as is if that doesn't happen. I think that needs to be discussed.
I agree OT, I think we need to make the best effort to get as many people involved in the vote as possible. Another idea is to email as many people as possible to let them know.

If the majority of votes say that original logo stays then the majority will have voted NO to the new logo idea.
I think multiple members of the crew have been discussing this whole deal over the last few days as a whole. Was it the whole Crew? Of course not, most people who were here during the hunt have taken leave and gone back to non hunting type things till next year or have been busy catching up on the life they put on hold for two weeks.
I think thats why the dates set up for voting are so far and wide between.
People have until Feb 28th to submit ideas.
Then the entire crew has from March 01 until March 31st to vote. Thats an entire month for hopefully eveyone who has a say to get a say.

No, however I bet we can get hold of most everyone from the invitational.
That being said, in my opinion if we can't get hold of a majority of people in the invitational via e-mail, we should wait on the vote until nearer the hunt next year. That way everyone in the invitational can vote.

The only problem I have with waiting is that most dont come back until it is right on hunt time. If we want to have stuff made I think we would need a little more time?
That might work. We can have people work on the ideas and have them read for voting just before or shortly after the PDG.
Of course that gives no time for people having logos made for shorts and such.
But we have to make sure everyone gets a fair say.

I dunno. Maybe it is the same, but it seems like they are forced to choose then, and maybe thats not what they want to do. Maybe there should be a referendum on whether or not to change it before people are forced to make a choice. I don't know, I'm tired and need to go to bed.

Yes, but not everyone posted their addy's in there. I'd have to go through and match it up to the access list of the invitational.
There are 110 people on the Invitational list at last check the email list from the thread was like 23 people who gave up email addresses.

I want to point something out before something gets "taken" the wrong way or something gets taken out of context.
Pay Me (nor I) did not decide on our own that this stuff should be voted on.
People from all over the crew have been talking about this issue since the hunt ended. You can read about it in the invitationl thread as well as a little bit in this one. I doubt just as with eveything else that happens with all of us that every person will be happy about how things go with this. Even if we don't have a vote there will be people not happy with that choice. Pay Me just offered up to deal with making sure that all the submissions were posted and the votes counted. As with everything else shes just trying to help get somethings done here.
By all means... this is an open forum and if people have opinions about this then we need to talk about it. We need to discuss it and make sure that we make the best choice possible.

I'll be honest....I was one of the people that pushed HARD for this...
I was suprised as to how many people bought shirts, buttons, etc...from cafepress site....
I know people would LOVE to have something besides a button that is coolercrew logo's...
the current one is too choppy on a shirt....trust me..I tried it....
I know that with the hats we got that a Crest would work out better then the current logo. We didn't want to go about changing things on our own or just making up our own stuff. I think thats what got us into this disscussion.
When ESD made that newer looking logo at the request of Ares it just seemed to fuel the fire more for those who saw it.
Hi, I am trying to avoid this stuff because I have to get a paper done, but figured I should slog. Anyway, I know I pushed very hard for a vote as a way of bringing together the ideas that were being thrown about. I am okay with not voting and leaving our logo the way it is. My inclination is to organize and try to find consensus when I am in a group. However, maybe that is not what is best for us.
I don't know how to find consensus (Vote/don't vote; New logo/old logo)Â on this considering most people are not here. Try as we might to be something else, we are a loosely affiliated group of medallion hunters. Even though outside firendships are formed, most people are only here for two weeks of the year. If we admit that to ourseleves and stay unorganized, leave the logo the way it is, etc., we might find more peace. We can go back to Google Mania, wisecracks, mock hunts, etc.
All I was looking for out of this was a headband and a baseball cap with the logo stiched on. I can do that with the old logo.

Well said. I'm just going to go with the flow from now on. I already have my sign ordered, so I'm stuck with that logo. I do want a hat or headband. Where was yours done OTS?

3M, we got ours done here at a place called "Embroidery Me".
It was 20 bucks for the hat and the stitching.
If we bring a design to them the can make up a stich pattern for 80 dollars and add that on as well.
I believe you can bring your own clothes to them. We just choose to purchace the hats because they were good quality and it was simple.
I also plan to have a nice jacket stitched with some Cooler Crew stuff.

Yes you can bring in whatever you want. I would be happy to purchase the stitch pattern myself for whatever we choose (logo/crest)
As for the screen names like our hats they have that already to go. just need to know what you want it to say and what color(s)

if we have the founding logo maker agree to update the "look" and the eldest (longest standing like TV, INKS and green etc.) members of the CC agree to vote on something then that should be kewl enough to mopve forward wouldnt you think - we could always open the voting thread up to all who frquent this site - not just the inviataional - most people know how to get ahold of inviatiaional members in one way or another:)

missed it by that much.
just my $0.02 to the artists out there drawing logos. i needa banner-esque logo for the web site, and for this one for that matter, and the background needs to be transparent. even using div tags, html text just doesn't look right draped around a crest-ish logo. the logo ought to be friendly to both white and the baby blue backgrounds here. as for a crest, the closest thing i've seen that's in existence is this:
except without the Home in it.

I don't think it will be much of an issue for the artists to get the posts transparent. Big G had some really good ones that would need a little more clean up on the tranparency.
I just wanted to see what needed cleaning up on this one. I'm positive that anyone entry can be made to work in any setting.
