I'll see what I can do for ya, Ares. I will be working on a long logo (aka NOT a crest) in a bit here, something that could go along a knit hat brim and other non-crest uses.
As far as the transparency goes...I can make a web friendly anything. I just quick exported the logo from illustrator into a jpg to throw it up on here, I wasn't too concerned with the web aspect of it.
As far as throwing a rake across the shovel...I can do it, but not sure if I want to complicate the logo more. Plus I think the rake and shovel crossed kinda gives a skull and crossbones feel to the thing...which I'm not sure if I like or not. I'll dink around with it some more.

YES, I SAID DINK. I say it a lot in fact. I could say putter...mess around...and other things, but I like to say dink. It describes what I do pretty well I think.

I make cookies every year for x-mas that my family has been calling "dinky cookies", for years.... their actually snickerdoodle cookies... cept when I was like 3 or 4, and helped my mom make them.... when we rolled the dough into balls and then put the colored sugar on them, instead of saying "dunk" them in the sugar, I said "lets dink these in the sugar now"
that's a cute story nick. :) i love the words that families come up with when kids are little. my brother couldn't say pretzels when he was little and called them drepels...so now we call them drepels.
I had the same thing with Bananas.... I called them Balanas, or just Lanas for short... funny thing is, though after I was like 9 or 10, I stopped eating them, and cant stand them nowadays...
hahaha...my brother called them the same thing...now he calls them nanners, and he's 22. :)

when are we actually voting on a new logo?
I personally think we should hold off til at least this summer.

I agree with Me2 we seem to be rushing in to this.
We are starting the voting March 1st and have it until the 31st. Hopefully enough people will vote!! That way we have plenty of time to get any stuff made!!
Tentatively voting was set for 3/1/05 until 3/31/05. The whole month being there to insure even those who only check in once in a while get a chance to see
But even so as you could tell we've been trying to work out and make sure that we can get as many coolers involved in the vote as possible. Just in case they don't stop in.
So I guess for right now the "artists" can continue to work on entries and when the group as a whole decides it's a good time to vote that probably when it will go down.
Like I have said before we dont want to go to far into the summer because we need to make sure to have enough time to be able to get shirts hats etc made in time for next years hunt!
that stuff can be made in a couple of weeks (or at least a month or 2)
I know cause I deal with with these types of companies as well-
It is nice to be ahead of the game and be prepared for next year... Getting the items in order that will be monogramed I can see, but we don't havta rush with a new logo.
I guess you guys do what you have to do-but I think this is moving too fast.
It seams like we get a whole bunch of new people that want to come in a change things up right away. Nothing wrong with change -but way too fast. Right off the bat -some want to change our LOGO!!! The CORE of this Cooler. I personally dont want it changed - or if it does, than hopefully it will be a small change.
The Cooler can always move forward but we need to NEVER forget where it began!

well we want as many coolers as possible to vote and a lot of people leave here in the offseason. so I think the decision comes down to within a month or right before next years hunt, and that would be too late to get stuff made.
whats with the hostility, its just a damn logo. I didn't even know we had an official logo... I'm pretty sure Greg Sax would be astounded that his logo is actually creating problems.
oh, and the logo IS NOT the core of the cooler...

you know what, I'm sick of people's pissy ass attitudes in here. if you ask me, the people that are being all whiny about crap are doing much more damage than changing any logo could do. boo freaking hoo, people want a different logo because they are going to start using it for clothing and other things. greg sax didn't make that logo for those uses, so enough.
it's getting to the point where no matter what someone tries to do that the whole cooler is involved in, someone is going to create a problem. this is going to drive the group into the ground, and eventually the only cooler-wide happenings will be the pdg and the rhb and everything else will be sub-groups, or "cliques" if that's what you want to call them.
everyone knows the entire crew doesn't hunt together, we hunt in these smaller groups, and my group of close friends easily could have taken big g's new logo and made some hats and scarves up and been happy with it, but people would have felt left out. also, we have a lot of great talent in the group so we figured lets have a contest/vote to see who comes up with the best logo, but now people are complaining about change. un-freekin-believable.
well i think if the current logo is causing a problem when we print banners, hats and stuff.. then it is important to get a new banner.
PLEASE NOTE THIS: as a graphic designer, i know that we would be better served with a VECTOR image (something from Illustrator). While photoshop is nice, RASTER images can't be blown up and scaled without losing quality. So when making a banner, it will get all pixely. ALSO.. if you start with a crap graphic from a website at 72dpi, it's not going to look good on a Tshirt or banner or whatever. It was made for the web and only the web. SO. These issues need to be addressed before selecting the new logo. Because from what I understand the decision to have a new logo isn't for lack of people liking it, but for lack of usability. And it will do us no good to switch from one low res graphic to another. Even if it's prettier.
ALSO. When can we start posting in that images thread. I'm hot to trott to put up my logos. I have 8 so far. :) just for options.

yeah you would think that would be enough for the naysayers but that has been the plan all along, and people are still complaining.

Send the graphic to Pay Me, or even post it here. Just let Pay Me know. We're keeping the other thread for graphics only so we can have a depository of just the graphics. Make sense?
