MM, I understand what you are saying, but I have a different opinion about what this group is. I don't think of us as a big happy family. I think of us as a loosely affiliated group of treasure hunters. Most of us don't see each other except for 2 weeks out of the year. We are all very different people. I don't see how we can all agree and be happy with each other all the time. Don't get me wrong, I want people to get along, but I also think it is natural that in a group this size there will be arguments and people who don't like each other. It is bound to happen. I think that this group can survive this kind of turmoil. We are all adults and will work things out to ensure the board and the comraderie don't die.

that's exactlywhat we are. some of us have gotten to know each other better than that. some of us spend more than just those two weeks out of the year together. many (i'd guess the vast majority, given the group of people around here all year long) don't.

I don't think we want to change everythingares. Not the basis of the group, that's for damn sure! Just the logo. I don't think it's a big deal. It's some words and pictures.

The point was made that we won't all get along all the time. Expecting that is ludicrous.
Think of a family. Anyone's family. Do they get along ALL the time? No freaking way. Expecting that of this group is like expecting to love the ill-fitting sweater grandma makes you for Christmas. You politely say thank you and move on.
have you read any of this?? We are throwing ideas out for all to discuss and come to a group decision. It isnt a bunch of people trying to get things done their way. I will say this being a key player in the issues right now. Wheather or not Ares and TC and me and OTS make up(which i have high hopes for) has nothing to do with me being capable of picking a logo or crest. these issues will resolve one way or another.. worst case scenario to agree to disagree....none of us want the cooler crew to go anywhere. and we want to be involved. But by no means does this influence anyones capability of making a decision that is what they feel is good for the group!!! AGAIN THESE ARE ALL GROUP DECISIONS.
i've already said what i wanted to say about the meaning of logos earlier today.
I just meant that I don't want to argue. I want to peacefully discuss logos. Can we do that please? I would like to hear more about the PP Water Cooler logo. I didn't go to the PP thread all that much and don't remember seeing that. Was it at the top of the page as it is here?

Look.. my point is.. this group was formed on friendship.. granted.. we dont' have to get along all the time.. but there's something about the crew that's special.. a bond.. that keeps the whole group whole. Kinda like a chain.. but if a link starts to crack..what happens..the chain breaks.. and you don't have a complete chain any more.
ares. I fully respect that point of view. Which is why the original logo is part of the voting. If there are enough people that feel the way you do then that will stay. And yes I still am aware this vote may not even happen.....Â
it never was a complete chain, that's what loosely affiliated means, which everyone has agreed on. even ares can agree with that, I think. we work together as a bunch of broken links. it's kinda neat that way.
and I should say that I use the terms we and everyone all the time even if it's only one or two people, it's a habit. I don't mean to imply that absolutely EVERYONE has agreed.
I am VERY tired. I hope this stuff works itself out and there's no more poo. I would hate to see what Kitch comes up with googling that!

I didn't realize when I started that cafepress site that issues would ever come of it....i just wanted to have something fun for a mock hunt prizes.....shirt, watch, hat...etc....
this is why I was one of the parties that made a big push for a "crest/logo" ....something to have on shirts, hats, etc.....

Thats what I think the premise of the arm bands was.... so you would see them and say "you dig?" and they would know you were "someone"

Oh, but it *was*!! I am very saddened by the posts I've read from the past day. It took me most of last night to slog all the b.s., and I was so hurt/angry/frustrated by the time I was done, I didn't have what it took to formulate a post.

There have been many excellent posts from people talking about how important the cooler crew has been to them, many pleading that the arguments be "taken outside" which did not seem to happen. Disagreements will happen. I have said from the beginning of this logo chatter, that I like our current logo -- don't know that we need to go changing it. But I *would* like to see a "crest" or "badge" type sized deal developed for those that would like to put something identifiable on clothing.
Before any of us had met face to face -- and we were all just hunting in the same park separately -- I think it was New Daddy, but I could be wrong. He was going to wear a white diaper on his sleeve....just in case one of "us" saw him in the park, we wouldn't hesitate to go up and ask "You dig?". We all did our best to find an "odd" object of white clothing.....just something to stand out. It wasn't to be crazy, it was so we'd *know* that that person over there with a funky sock thing attached to their hat was someone who posted on the board.
I still have my white pith helmet. And for the record, mine is NOT plastic but the real deal canvas type. A bunch of us went to Grand Old Day wearing those one year. My kids were digging through stuff an unearthed a photo just a couple days ago. It was kind of cool! But for *hunting* in?? That would be for the birds.
At last year's RHB, I put my name on a list with my email and I think my snail mail address....what happened to that list? I think that if the logo thing is something we want to move forward with, and it seems that many are intent on doing just that, that we should push the deadline forward.....just to try to get in touch with as many as we can. June, July, August would still be plenty of time to see that stuff could get made.
Sorry for this extremely long post -- I don't really even know where I'm going with all this except to say that if you really have an issue with someone else here, PLEASE deal with it outside of these boards. It doesn't belong here. On that note, I'm late to get ready for work.

Please, if you have issues with anyone else, take that to those involved face to face, voice to voice, but off these boards. Words in written form lack the intonation and can often be misinterpreted. Work it out if possible. You'll find it's worth it.
Don't make me get all Dr. Phil up on your arses. Just kidding. People do need to work things out, yes. I don't know that now is the best time though. Give it a day or two, get back to your own lives, get your mind off things. Take time out to step back from things. Otherwise when it comes time to work things out, there's just going to be too much emotion involved. That's not going to help. I think that we should be able to discuss logo stuff for now. All it is is discussion. Nothing's being decided. It's just discussion. That's what belongs here. The other arguing stuff, if it's going to be on the board here, belongs in it's own private thread amongst the parties involved. What happened to much cooler love?

don't get me wrong....I think I saw lilman where one in line at the paper...somebody was...not sure who....
I knew it was a coolercrew thing...its why I started looking at them.......
I then stubled into a fireman's helmet that had a liner (looked warm)...so my ideas in my head ran.....
I then recalled the white diapers around the arms....and thought geez...that was a cool idea....how about a fireman's jacket with the reflective tape on it......

how do you figure that, kitch? i never said that i had a problem with them. never had a problem with them that i didn'tmention. for that matter, i stilldon't have a problem with it. its probably one of the motivators that got people thinking about cooler crew apparel. i've always thought it was totally cool. (the only thing remotely close to a concern i had with it was the background being the pp's copyrighted image of the medallion, but considering how cool they've always been with the clues and such, i didn't ever think that'd be a big deal)Â

Bock a long, long time ago... In northern climes a group of folks met on the Internet to hunt a prized blue disk in a wonderful magical medallion hunt sponsored by a wonderful, loving Mom (i.e., Pioneer Press).

Many of these folks hunted at nite and the Chief Hunter - the one fullest of wisdom and hunt knowledge (Greg Sax) - suggested that all Cooler Hunters (hence forth called, as they are known today, Cooler Crew Members) wear something white on their upper body when hunting so that a) when one Cooler Crew Member came upon another in the heat (what HEAT?) of the hunt they would recognize each other and b) the white would stand out in the dark.

Many an item was worn - a diaper (New Daddy) around the arm, a sock, and even a baseball cap. And so white became the official colour of The PioneerPlanet Cooler Crew, a.k.a. Coolerheads!

Time went on in this beautiful locale in the environs of St. Paul, MN... and spring came...

Some of The Cooler Crew got together for a bock hunt - hunting wooden goat heads - at a northern brewery to keep honed their hunting skills for the next Medallion Hunt. At that hunt, one Crew Member (Cheryl) gave all gathered Cooler Crew Members a white plastic pith helmet - white, as it is the Official Colour of The Crew... and a pith helmet as the original Cooler Crew Members first met at that very special, magical *hunt* - The St. Paul Pioneer Press Winter Carnival Medallion Hunt - and first and foremost are hunters!
