I gotta dig up the photo from the Duluth Bock Hunt

Pith helmets are what folks wear on safari.  There's pith inside...  You'd soak them in water and then as the water would evaporate outta the hat, it would cool(er) your noggin'.

Cheryl gave us plastic ones...  Then Radar found real ones, white, at Cabela's.  Most o'us bought one.  We'd wear them in the summer around town in parades and stuff, at our McGovern's nite, stuff like that.  But not when hunting as TOO EFFIN' COLD and they don't like to stay on real super well.

White has always been the official colour o'the 'Crew.  The blue came in due to the logo.  And thass otay.  Having/using blue stuffs (but you'll never see blue on me...) to wear. 

But White is the official colour of The Cooler Crew.

I've still got my Pithy, somewhere...  And my green pom-poms.  :D

Yeah.  And shovels and [old] hoes have always been icons.

We even kicked around the idea of lap 'putters being a symbol, but nixed because yeah, that's how we met, but it wasn't truly Hunt related.  Too many steps away from The Hunt.

The Hunt.  It's always been about The Hunt.

I'm saying that the Hat's were something that people looked for to find a coolerhead....

currently there is nothing that seperates a cooler from a lady taking a walk in a park....

....I'll let it rest.....I just want to see a group find a logo.....otherwise I'll just pick one and run with it for myowncrap (shirts, hats, etc...) without the group making a choice on it.....

Chery's the one behind me, kind'a bending over over me, on the right.  She's the one that made the REAL Water Cooler Cake at the first Re-Hash Bash!  I mean, it WAS a cooler!  About a foot, foot and a half, tall! 

 

Oh, crap.  That dang 42 oz margarita's gonna follow me the rest o'my life!  :D

Gosh.  The mammories, I mean memories...  Man.  That was sumpin', for sure.

I never dreamed so many folks would want to join Reed, Cheryl and me for the Re-Hash Bash when I asked.  Talk about coming together, all pitching in, one happy family...  Everbuddy did what they could with what they could.  And it was THE BEST!!!

You were a HUGE help, Ian.  Again, thanks.

If anybody can clean them up, or wants to use them (nicely, heh), go ahead.

Forget?  No, I didn't forget.

Yeah, we had fun.  In our own way.  We didn't try to emulate or copy anyone.  And we went out of our way to not be considered part of the Winter Carnival.  We didn't want to be under the Winter Carnival's legend umbrella like the Vulcans or Royalty.

We have always wanted to be us, seperate from the Winter Carnival, and for The Hunt.

Green I think you bring a valid point.  I think the ideas being thrown around from pirates to whatever are ideas being hashed out to be ourselves.  But there is a bigger question,  I know of several people who want to be recognized by the winter carnival.  Is this something that the group of a whole wants.  Or to remain seperated!!

In light of all the news this week....I don't want to go near them. RULES RULES RULES are coming down....

The Cooler Crew will never be under the Winter Carnival umbrella.  Then we can't Hunt.

We *are* part of the Winter Carnival in that our stuff is being sought for their museum, some of us go to Winter Carnival events, we've been in the TL parade, and I hope we can again, we're most active during the Winter Carnival.

We *are* part of the Winter Carnival in that respect.  And that's good.

But The Cooler Crew will never be a part of the Winter Carnival ala the Vulcans or Royalty.  The legend was started in the 18XX's, long before we came to be.  We can't be a part of the Winter Carnival like the entities in the legend  and we don't want to be. 

But be involved in Winter Carnival events, obtain recognition as The Cooler Crew, stuff like that, yeah!

not that i want to fan any flames from yesterday, but i feel the need to post this:

ok. i tried to cool off and think a little less hotheadedly after yesterday, and one thing stuck out at me like a tumor on an x-ray. we've all heard about the tiaras being a joke. and after that, we heard that people were actually hurt by said joke. yet despite that, i look at the taglines of a couple of people who have preached peace and see this:

• You can just refer to me as Your Majesty!




• I don't have time to write out nice flowery posts that make everyone feel like sunshine and fuzzy bunnies...talk to the tiara.

seems to me that those aren't really conducive to any sort of peaceful discussion.

Butt, she's very beautiful.  The Snow White to your Rose Red.  She's blonde, you're dark.  You two remind me sssssoooo much of each other!!!  I just LOVE it!!!

I hope thats not what you thougth kitches and my intentions were or are - we are talking about being recognizable from OTHER hunters who may frequent the PP forums or here and are wondering who may IN FACT BE from the cooler crew that they have heard about or MAYBE even consider themselves part of! NOTHING MORE green! I hope you understand ??

 i still want to know what the deal is with being associated with the winter carnival an not being able to hunt (those of us who've had desires to be vulcans, etc. have wondered). the rules only state that *employees* of the st paul festival and heritage foundation and those of the hunt sponsors are ineligible.

Alright guys... It's past my bed time. I have lost sleep I need to catch up.....

I understand, Rusty.  But remember there are degrees.  And the intent of this group was never to be way out there like some of the ideas you and Kitch presented.  Again, we're just folks.  And that includes very wee folks, too.  Fun, campy - like pithys - funny, that's fine.

Everybody likes to be a bit different, at least once in awhile.  But, as a group, too odd or different and people will be pushed away instead of drawn in.  People may think they *have* be be 'carnivally' to fit in.  And there are lots, lots, LOTS of folks in this group that are as introverted as I am extroverted.  And they have felt comfortable with the little nuttiness in this group.  Too much and not only will people not be drawn to us, we will lose many of those that have spent eight years promoting a warm, friendly, happy, loving, positive environment to increase awareness of the Pioneer Press Winter Carnival Treasure Hunt. 

Edit:  or fireman's helmets, stuff like that.  I didn't want it to appear I meant that *only* pithys were acceptable.

Well I am king of nutty!! So i dont know what to tell you - see my tag line!! :)

I am making this post short and sweet.  The tiara's had nothing to do with anyone.  Noone should have hurt feelings because they were a thank you to a few people.  They are part of a larger joke in regards to the pirates, firefighters, and even G's tiara from before the hunt began.  

Since there are still seems to be misunderstandings with this issue,  I am just trying to make it as clear as I possibly can.  Again I am sorry!
