Okay... after slogging nearly 200 posts... i have just one thing to say.

stop talking about REO Speedwagon. 

 Their on my list of enemies that must be destroyed...  they costed me a giant root-beer at the state fair a couple years ago, by running me down in the street, with a golf cart, on the way to do their show at the grandstand.... and they havent paid me back yet.

they must die.

REO is from WI. The brother of the lead singer is a weather man on a small WI station (and has been for years).

That makes them even worse.

I think when I finally make my move, im going to shave the poofy haired guy's head, just to be more mean. He's the one that gave it away that it was them.... that and the backstage passes I saw, that had the name of the band on them.

REO's great.  A titch bubble-gummy, but still really great.  Saw them at Lumberjack Days in Stillwater a couple o'years ago...  Had to sit and wait about 7 hours, but it was worth it.  'Cept that lead singer guy?  With the white-blonde hair?  Subjected us all to his holy-roller, "I'S SEEN DA'LIGHT" beliefs.  That was boring.

But they still harmonize so beautifully.

My first concert was when I was 13. The Beatles at Met Stadium.

Nice! My first was Bob Dylan, Tom Petty and The Grateful Dead.

I just listened to Wildflowersearlier today too.

I've never liked the Beatles.  Ever.  But sure did like when they split up and Ringo did his own thing and Paul had Wings.  Now that I liked.

Have never been able to stomach the balladiers like Dylan, Mitchell, Joplin.  Just not my bag.  Always been a rock & roller, with some classical, Soca, steel drums, blues mixed in.  Back 'at the time' I didn't like AC/DC, now I just love them!

as a child i had seen: tina turner, whitney houston, the monkeys, michael jackson...
i've seen some funny stuff too like debbie gibson and paula abdul

Tina Turner...  Gods.  Now THAT's one super remarkable person.  Just saw her on Oprah.  Damn, that woman is still a brick shithouse.  AND her movements are still antimated.  Like you know?  She doesn't move like she's like 68 or whatever.  Still gorgeous and still sings like a canary.  She's sumpin'.

Debbie Gibson is in this month's Playboy.

Lettuce see... I've seen BTO, ELO, Elton John (scads o'times), The Moody Blues, Peter Frampton, 5th Dimension (believe it or not!!!  LOL!!!), REO, Journey, Styx...  Am I forgetting any?  Oh!  That guy that was married to Carole King...  That vain guy...

I'll have to ponder more to see if there's enkneebuddy else...

One o'my favs...  LAMONT CRANSTON!!!  My fiend plays sax for them and I always tell him, "Greenwell, you give me the best sax I've ever had in my LIFE!"

And Three Dog Night... 

When I worked at the 'spin dry' place...  There was a big shin-dig that was televised from the TCs around the world to all facilites.  One of the guests we had was Chuck Negron, the lead singer for TDN.  He'd written a book, Three Dog Nightmare, about his problem with drugs, the band, etc.

I got to meet him.  Of course, being the emotional thing I am, I was in tears when I got up to him, a copy o'his book in hand, and blubbered, "I'm so proud of you!" as he held me in his arms and KISSED ME ON THE CHEEK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  He autographed my book, too.

Later that night, he and his group put on a show just for the folks in the TCs and I got to dance to Chuck Negron LIVE!!!!!!!!!!!!! 

If sumbuddy'd told me in high school that the lead singer o'TDN would one day kiss me, I'd never have believed them.

Great book, too.  I really am proud o'that guy.  He over came so much.  We're lucky he lived through those days.

Ronnie Van Zant, live, 20 rows back, in that dinky theater at the Saint Paul Civic Center. Oh yeah, the rest of his band was there too.

Different day, saw the Marshall Tucker Band in the same place. Saw Jim Dandy (Hot 'n Nasty !!) with his band, in Atlanta.

Saw Charlie Daniels Band at Northrup Auditorium, and the Steele County Free Fair.

Led Zepplin @ Civic Center, Allman Brothers Band @ Met Sports Center, Santana @ old Midway Stadium, Rolling Stones @ Metrodome, Head East @ Steele County Free Fair, CROW @ Canterbury Downs, Lamont Cranston @ Canterbury Park,

Don't even get me going on concerts.  I lived at those things for a good part of my life.  I have a Cub Foods bag full of nothing but ticket stubs.  I am very impressed with TV's Beatles and Ian's Zep concerts!  Two I wish I could have attended.

Hey Zeph - I met the Megadeth boys a few years back.  I have pictures with me and each band member but I cherish the picture I have of me with Dave Ellefson's mom and dad the most.  It was so cool seeing these 80 year old people wearing Megadeth shirts.  Talking with them was a rush.  They were both very energetic.  His dad had coke bottle glasses that had to be at least an inch thick!  haha  I'll have to post them here later.

Damn... cant say Ive seen a buncha these older, still rockin bands.... cept for like say the stones.... saw them at the dome on the bridges to babylon tour.... or like.... The Pointer Sisters way back when I was 7 or 8, at the state fair.....although you name it, and ive probably seen the some of the bigger names of today's acts.... thats what going to things like X-Fest, and Ozzfest, Warped tour, etc, does..... you add them to the list 20-30 bands at a time....

not to mention the numerous road trips to milwaukee, chicago, and hick towns in Iowa, for the shows that those 2 clowns put on, every so often.

Also.... who can forget "The Teddy Bear Band", at the Phalen amphitheatre?!??!?!

I don't want to start with the concerts either - I love live music. I'm also impressed by the Beatles and Led Zep.

You know, the last time Paul McCartney was here, I was going to get tickets, but couldn't bring myself to pay the ridiculously high price. The cheap seats were $125 each - and I would have only bought the best ones - and those were $250 each. For Inks and I to go, that would be $500!!! I just couldn't bring myself to actually buy the tickets.

What are the going rates for concerts these days?

We paid $100 for the Billy Joel/Elton John concert.  I have seen them range from $35 to $300...

The year of the big storm that went through NE Minnesota and the BWCA, we went to a Bob Dylan and Paul Simon concert in Duluth, but the tickets were much more affordable.

Maybe I'm just cheap. :-)

Terry, I spend the big money for shows that I want to see, but I can understand why people don't. It is horrible how expensive concerts are getting.

Lee - I wanted to see Paul McCartney in the worst way, but I just couldn't do it. That was just too much over the top.

My favorite concert was Robin Trower in a little elementry school in Germany. He don't move when he's on stage, and I was right in front of him with my elbows on the stage the whole concert. My freind kept bringing me beers and some chick behind me kept groping me and rubbing herself on me all night to get my spot. I finally let her up to the stage on the very last song. Then the concert was over. Ha ha.

Another memorable concert was the Monsters Of Rock concert in germany. I was lucky enough to see Thin Lizzy's very last performance ever.

I am old enough to remember Head East. Flat as a pancake?

I forgot that I saw The Who @ Civic Center (after Keith Moon died)

Also saw Waylon Jennings (awesome) and John Denver (ZZZZZZZZZZ)

I saw the Who at alpine Valley, Wi. Great show!

Another of my favorite concerts was seeing Neil Young and Willi Nelson at Willie Nelsons ranch in Texas on the 4th of july (86?). It rained for about 6 days before hand, and was all knee deep mud. There was one spot by the beer stand where everyone would stand on both sides and watch people walk to the stand. Nobody would say any thing, then all of a sudden the people going towards the stand would fall in a mud filled hole that was at least waiste deep! Everybody howled! Then they would get out and wait for the next suckers to come along and fall into the hole! Funny stuff!

Motley Crue @ the Met and Cedar Falls Iowa for same Theater of Pain tour

All AC/DC shows but the Razors Edge tour the most

Scorpions @ the Met - Klause wore my shades for a picture on stage with the band

been to many concerts -i used to work as an usher at the ole met center and as security for concerts too----been to many as a paying ticket holder tho - my most memorable gig was one where i got to escort Louise Mandrell around town and the arena back in like 1990 - she is still hot(t)!!

been to a ton of KISS concerts - best stage show by far - best live band i have ever seen tho has to be the scorpions!! they sound 100% like their recordings!
