Speaking of coming home, I just got this e-mail from my brother-in-law who is in Bagdad:

Hi Everyone!

Unless something unforseen happens or we get a drastic schedule change,
I made it safely back from my last combat patrol this morning at 9:52
am local time. I am a proud veteran of over 200 combat patrols in the
past year and am glad to be done with them.

Take care and see you all soon!

Dang!

I, too, am sick of islamic extremists. I have 3 in a room in my basement, and they do nothing but whine about the smell.

Great news about your brother-in-law, Frosti!

Good to hear about the Iraqi people fighting back, GDZ! I have read that Iraqis are learning from the example of our soldiers what bravery and freedom are all about! Woohoo!

Zephy, be safe and have a beautiful day in the neighborhood! Be sure to let us know when you are back safe and sound! You rock!!!

But I made it there and back, no activity at all :D Kinda disappointing in a way, but I am just glad none of us were hurt.

Took a bunch of pictures with my new camera... had to delete a bunch when I found out that I was taking pictures of the post border... COuldn't tell...

Very nice in LSA Anaconda... they have paved roads, and sidewalks!! A grass like substance was even present in some spots... HUge base... I think that ours is the biggest, because there are a bunch of bases tied together here, but that place is huge...

All in all, was a decent trip... except our Convoy Commander was 1:45 hrs late for our SP to leave... grrrrr... should have left at 3, but went at 5...

Three Minnesota National Guardsmen were killed in Iraq, family members and civilian sources confirmed today.

They were identified as Staff Sgt. David Day, of Morris; 1st Lt. Jason Timmerman of Tracy, both of the 151st Field Artillery based in Montevideo, and Jesse Lhotka of Appleton, whose rank and unit weren't immediately known.

It is so sad about those soldiers from MN. When I saw in the news that one soldier's name was Jason, I did a double take.

Zephy, we are glad that you are alright! :-)

So you got to go to Anaconda? I was in contact with someone who was there a while back. I guess it was a pretty "noisy" place at the time. I hope things have calmed down around there now. A grass-like substance in some places...Do they have tiny lawn mowers? LOL!

Do you have any pictures to share with us???

Zephy - glad you're okay. We'll keep praying it's quiet wherever you are.

How sad for those families of the three. I can't imagine the pain they are experiencing.

I've got my BIL's unit info written down in the computer. Every time I see one of those stories, I have to cross check to see whether it was his unit or not. Sux.

HOWDY!  Nice to 'see' you.  Say...  Paybacks are hell...

They got any good spices or neat food stuffs like that the USDA would let you ship home?  Prolly snot, but thought I'd ask.

No neat spices or anything like that for me... I don't know if we can ship food stuff anyway, they are a lot pickier on the stuff coming into the US, than they are going out...

I think I will go now and take your advice, Green... be back in about 45 seconds... :)

Frosti... what unit is your BIL in???

I don't remember. I've got it written down at home, but I'm at work so that doesn't help me much. It's an infantry battalion, if I remember right. They're based out of Monticello.

KT...  Double entendre?  (Did I spell that rite???)  Hehehehe!

My fav word for blankie is "woobie" from Mr. Mom.  Just love the word "woobie"!!!

One of my former coworkers had a dog named "Loobie." I always wondered if there was some secret meaning in that name.

By the way, Zephy has been gone way longer than 45 seconds!

green, please don't give me credit for the entendres. You guys are grossing me out! :-P

Let's change the subject. Let's guess how many times a day Zephy has to salute someone. My guess is 5.

Fri, 02/25/2005 - 11:09 AM Permalink
mrmnmikey

I'll guess zero. I don't think you salute in a battle feild. Tends to kill off the officers. (I may be wrong about that though since he is on a post)

guess I was wrong!

They figure that it makes us look like we are not afraid of the officers being seen... I think it is great that we salute in this environment... I only salute other units officers though... Don't want mine to be a target... :)

'Team, I thought you meant some UDDER kind'o salute!  I'da guessed 2-3 times!  :D
