'Marnin', Zephy!

Say, they got pincer bugs over there?  Like, you know?  In Floridia?  Where the bugs dig these little tunnels down into the sand?

Have a GREAT one!

Has a scene like Crosby??? I wasn't there :(

I was originally thinking Phalen on the first 2 clues, with only a quick glance at the clues... but I don't know now. I have never dealt with any of his hunts before, so I don't know how much to try to get out of each clue...

Dunno... not gonna get much of a chance to look at them tonight either.. have some catching up to do...

:)

Hey Zephadoodle -

Just wanted to pop in and say HI, let you know I was thinking about you.  I am otta here in a few, going to Santa Cruz for the weekend to party it up on the beach/boardwalk!  It's in the mid 80's, and the girls have an itch for a road trip - so who am I to say no?

Thought about bringing my caching stuff, but trying to get them out of bed for a walk in the morning, after we just got in @ 6 am, is likely to be dangerous to my health.

Kisses! S

There have been some news stories the last couple of days about how a lot of people don't know the words to our national anthem. Here they are:

O say, can you see, by the dawn's early light,
What so proudly we hailed at the twilight's last gleaming?
Whose broad stripes and bright stars, through the perilous
fight,
O'er the ramparts we watched, were so gallantly streaming?
And the rocket's red glare, the bombs bursting in air,
Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there.
O say does that star-spangled banner yet wave,
O'er the land of the free, and the home of the brave?"

There have been a lot of people the last few years that realize that the news media doesn't know the news... We just had a really big story happen here at the airport, that was misrepresented totally by the press... changed a quote, then used it out of context... crazy...went pretty high up the food chain with that story... (with the ?Italian? journalist/and bodyguard)

Fri, 03/11/2005 - 2:36 PM Permalink
GreenTeam

Yep. The media only tells part of the story, or skews it, or doesn't tell it at all. I'm curious, what was the quote that was taken out of context? I think it was a very sad story. But the Italians made some pretty big mistakes, or so it seems.

Problem is that a story such as this one gets misrepresented and spread all over. When and if there is a retraction of sorts about the story, it gets little notice. You really have to dig to find it and usually it isn't much of a retraction either. Look at the Rather/Bush guard story. It was proven to be based on poorly faked documents and yet Rather still insisted that the basic premise of the story was true.

Uncle Tom must play guitar eh?

He tries to. He is only 12 years old. We bought him a cheap acoustic at a garage sale about 3 years ago and he was having trouble playing it, so we got him a cheap electric guitar for that christmas to make it easier and "cooler" hoping it would keep him interested in it. Every once in awhile he picks it up and plays a little. I wish he would really get into it. He could be pretty good by the time he is 18.

What a cutie!!!

Yes he is and I do not know where he gets it from. He has learned to stick his tongue out and how to growl at you if you scold him. He has a great sense of humor already. When I give him a girl scout cookie he gets a big grin like the one in the picture of him getting in to trouble in Uncle Tom's room. Girl scout cookies are the highlight of his visit with us.

Last time I saw him he was only like 25 inches long or so..

Yeah Zeph, he is in that fast growing stage right now. I am sure that you will notice a change in your kids as well.

Any clues as to when you get to come home for a vacation yet? Hopefully soon!

I have been really fortunate that we have been able to get the hookup on the satellites and modems and stuff... (Pays to be in a signal company, huh OTiS...) ;) I have been able to keep in somewhat of a regular contact with home and I think that is making a huge difference in how close we are as a family...

In a strange way, being so far apart has zephswife and I a lot closer... And that is worth a lot more than being able to see each other for a year and a half... What is a year and a half in the grand scheme of things???

I think for you and your wife this past year will be the the strongetst bond builder one could ask for. I know my time away from my family sucked when I was stationed over seas. Then add to that the time I was deployed when Steph was first pregnant with Thomas.....

But the time alone gives you space to reflect and think about your family in ways most people will never understand. I think it's great that you have the ability to talk with your family the way you do. Even if it gives your wife and kids nothing more then a "friendly hello, thinking about you" and lets them know you are ok". It's gotta make a world of difference.

No one will ever be able to tell you that your families love for each other has not been tested when you get home.

So yeah to signal units......:)

Zeph.... E Gram me a list of stuff you guys need or are craving... candies or snacks of some type?

Deployed while she was pregnant??? I bet she loved that... ish... We had a few people who have had babies since being here. I can only think of how lucky I am to already have my kids. I feel for those poor women at home, but also for the guys here who are going to miss so much of the first year...

smaller than a dime? Wow, thinking of the 'old ways' of making things, it is really cool to see so much detail in that coin, being so small

How old are the boys?

I happened to stumble across this link while on another web site today. It has pictures of the Crazy Cajuns who work alongside Zephy and their Mardi Gras celebration.
