Some of you may recall that shortly before Christmas, my father-in-law was diagnosed with cancer. He has had radiation and chemo therapy that is now complete. He is complaining about being soooo very tired. That's a common side effect of the treatments. A week from today he will have a cat scan to see if the treatments have done any good.
He wants to be better...not for himself, but because he is bound and determined to care for Inks' mother at home. You might also recall she has alzheimer's.
It's a tough time and the waiting is difficult.
Please remember them both in your thoughts and prayers.
Thanks! Inks' brother lives not too far from them and checks in with them often, but he can only do so much as he works long hours and has his own place to keep up.
There are neighbors that can help if and when anyone would think to ask them, but there is some pride in trying to do it oneself I guess.
We would just barrel in there probably and get done what needs doing. They would take that from us without fussing but hesitate to ask others outside the family.

For some stupid reason its hard to find Good Stout down here unless I'm in a bar. One of the countries best patty day parades is in Mobile...its a mardi gras setting....
MANY homes are gone, many homes still dont have step or decks (house on stilts so unusable), 1 of 2 gas stations still closed, the ferry to florida is down due to bad dock on the florida side of the bay, many homes have no shingles or siding. etc...lots of other small things like that....(guess its not small if its your home)
The tourism $$ are gone and you can tell its a big issue with local churchs and stores....the church had a fund raiser tonight...free dinner/and beer (ya right)
but the small stores are also pushing for extra incomes....I bought the girls today 2 small Ice cream (1 scoop) cones....was $8. (2x normal for here)
Me2 - for $10, you can bring your monitor to Vasko rubbish, 309 Como (www.vaskorubbish.com). There's another "dump" type place closer to you, but I don't know for sure that they take monitors....I think it's called Twin City Refuse.....on Water St. down by Harriet Island.
Also, you could try listing on www.twincitiesfreemarket.org, I know you said it doesn't work, but you never know *who* might be looking for your "junk".
::::BRAVO::::
to Allison once again - and congratulations to TMK! By the time I got an inkling of what was going on with the clues, it was too late! I was still half stuck in Cono! Kept thinking the next clue was going to wrap it up there!
Kitch!! $8 for ice cream??!! Maybe I'd better start doing some re-thinking! Still thinking about heading down there - hopefully this Spring yet.

When I got home earlier, there was a card on the kitchen table, from my dad, that he obviously bought in Maplewood, someplace, when he was out yesterday.... he tends to think that its funny as hell to buy people things that say stuff about Maplewood...
this one reads:
on the front - "Around MAPLEWOOD, MN. Birthday parties are called CALENDAR BASHES!, Birthday Cakes are called CANDLE HOLDERS, and Birthday Presents are called...."
then you open it up, and it says in huge giant letters.... "CARDS!!!"

Anybody else notice that we are missing over 15000 posts in our threads?
We were within only a hundred posts of hitting 200,000 and now it's way less.
could that have to do with the PF problems yesterday?
HEY, I keep forgetting to post this: but does anyone know where I can dump a computer monitor? It does not work. I need to get rid of mine.
and dont say out behind Linwood ;)
Not Linwood??
umm... how about Como or Phalen then?
