Jake, if you still have that t-shirt, I'd love to have it.
hahaha Med2K! .... key words: little stubble
RR - Here's a few pix of the last time I seen the Crue with Vince
I've seen them since then but it wasn't the same.
I have a one of my favorite concert pix from that show that I can't seem to find cause I put it in a 'special' place. It had Tommy's solo right in front of us with the crowd in the background. It was awesome! His drum set rose up and glided right out from the stage right and stopped in front of us. Then he started spinning and such while playing awesome drum tunes from the 70's & 80's. I remember Frankenstein the most cause I was air-drumming along with Tommy when he pointed one of his sticks right at me and gave me the thumbs up. Boy I'm a groupie for that kind of shit.Â
I also have another older pix I can't find either that shows us holding the huge banner that we made that was exactly like the Theater Of Pain album cover. It's kinda funny that we stopped by a record store in Cottage Grove called In Concert that apparently still has those old pictures of us holding that king size sheet up in front of our limo. That was so many years ago. I gotta go over there cause I don't believe they would still have those things up. That'll be a definite photo op if they are. I had to be 1/2 my current size back then. ;-)

Wow Clue, those are great pics of the Crue. Does Tommy still use that floating/spinning drum setup he used to have?
We saw Vince (solo) in LaCrosse at a cool outdoor gig. It was a 80's hair thing with Poison and I forget the other band. The most memorable concert I have been to just because of it's location. We stayed in a hotel in LaCrosse, WI and had to drive way out into cornfield country (I thought we got bad directions) to this little bar in the middle of nowhere. In his field there was a big ravine. The crowd had to sit on blankets on the hillside and look down at the stage. At the beginning of the concert some guy got on stage and says, "Welcome to my backyard" and that was what it was too. It was so surreal to see these megastars doing an outdoor concert literally surrounded by cornfields.
We really had a really good time there and the accoustics where great. It had a more personal feel to it than concerts I have been to in large venues. Unfortunately, for some reason it was the last concert that guy was allowed to have there. I imagine that the locals were complaining or something.
(on edit) Now I remember, it was "Rockin' the Ridge" and it was Skid Row that opened, then Vince, then Poison. I wish they still did that.

That sounds super cool Gramps. I always wanted some hair band to play in my back yard too. ;-)

NICE!!!
That big weekend has been circled on calendars throughout the Midwest for many, many months. It has rapidly become one of the most highly anticipated weekends of the season for top-level junior scholarship competitors.
On Saturday, March 12, the 7th Annual Miller Time Scholarship Bowling Tournament will take place. The eighth stop on this season's Greater Iowa Scholarship Bowling Tour will be conducted the following day, on Sunday, March 13.
The 48-lane center has hosted the Miller Time Scholarship Tournament since 1999, and has also hosted a GISBT tour stop since 1999. For the 5th straight season, both events will be contested at Miller Time Bowl on the same star-studded, big money weekend.
The weekend will bring out nearly all the Midwest's top YABA players, and will award over $13,000 in scholarships. Last season, the pair of tournaments drew 310 entries from 77 cities and 11 states, and awarded over $13,200.00.
Saturday’s championship prizes are GUARANTEED at $1,000 in the boys division, and $500 in the girls division. Sunday’s ESTIMATED GISBT top prizes are $600 in the boys division and $300 in the girls division.
Both tournaments have enjoyed a history of thrilling competition, big scores and high drama throughout the day.
Defending boys champion Dustin Haugen will be back to defend his Saturday crown. He captured the beautiful crystal bowling pin and $1,000 scholarship in a thrilling 3-way battle to the wire a year ago. The only past girls champion competing is Michelle Hopper who knocked off a talented field to earn the $500 championship prize in 2002.
Over the weekend, the Midwest’s most talented stars from all the major circuits are expected to be on hand. The best players from Iowa, Illinois, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Missouri, Nebraska, South Dakota, as well as other outlying states will bring their best to Miller Time Bowl.

Once I got more than 100. But it was bumper bowling :(
bumper bowling rocks... they should have pro bumper bowling leagues...
and for that matter, pro mini-golf, too... all that fun kiddie stuff, but professional style, with shoe company endorsements, and salary caps and whatever.
well, last night the Beans found her nitch. She is now addicted to some kind of bumper pool? red and white balls on a short round pool table.
and darts (even though she stands close to the board and can't hit the board) ....
as soon as we left my friends house last night she wanted to know when we could go back! and then thismorning on the way to school she asked again. I am really glad she gave me a laugh. I love my girls!
I remember years ago they had the Tom Thumb mini-golf tournament. Wasn't old enough at the time to go and do it, but it woulda been fun.

OMG is that awesome! I thought I've seen every shot of that old bridge. WOW Thanks for posting Ian
I rode across that bridge!
that is wonderful Ian. My grandma had an original framed 'print' of it in her bedroom for her whole life. I love that bridge. It is one of the things I wanted when she passed away. My aunt got it. :( ...she said I could have it someday. She will forget :(

They have an excellent painting of the old bridge at The Point up the hill from there. I catch myself just staring at that thing thinking about those days gone by.
mmmmmmm thanks for posting it Clue Master
Doesn't it look like they were starting to make a park or something underneath the spiral? A gate and freshly poured sidewalks.
I have one of those prints around here somewhere. They used to sell them at the Dakota County Historical Society. Always meant to have it framed but never got around to it.
I remember it being very creaky and kind of scary when you went under the bridge bed going around that curve. But I was pretty young and lots of stuff scared me.
When was that torn down?
How cool is this?
It was torn down in 1951.
[Edited by on Mar 15, 2005 at 08:55am.]
that is very cool! but instead of displaying it I would probly use it.
am i correct in assuming this bridge was where the current bridge for Highway 61, is???
2 blocks down river
Neat bridge. I was looking through the historical society's site at pictures of old street cars. Thinking of putting a cache on the parkway I live on, and since it was an old street car route, I thought it'd be interesting to list some of the history on the cache page.
Hey Ian, do you have any ideas on where I could get some Twin City Lines street car tokens?
I used to ride this thing all the time as a kid.
I'm looking for street car tokens for CM and so far have found six protractors, an autographed Jesse Ventura "Show Me The Money" buck and a FDR campaign button. I'm on my own treasure hunt!  Still looking for the tokens.
so they're a bit harder to find.. hmm
here's a site I found a bunch of info on the old street car lines
http://206.103.49.193/tcrt/tcrt.htm
Even a map of the system, I'm hoping to make use of that and possibly place a series of caches in locations along those lines. Of course that depends on caches already placed, and places that will actually work for one.
I found a 1990 Winter Carnival button.
Having fun but still no tokens. I know they're here somewhere. Is it KC who's looking for them? When/if I find them you're welcome to them.
Found a ticket stub from an Elvis concert. My mezzanine seat cost $10! Not sure which one it's from.
Oh so you're looking through some of your things. Thanks OT! That's very kind of you.
Sounds like you're finding some fun stuff anyway.
I've made quite the mess here. I have drawers pulled out all over the house. But yes, I'm having fun!
Found a quarter  from 1900 that my Mother had saved. That's the year she was born.
You could start with a schedule from the Lake Harriet line that still runs on a short track.
that's true, I'll haveta try that on a different cache though. The one near my house (It's now Furness Parkway) needs to be a micro-cache, about pill bottle size, so that's where I thought having a few of the street car tokens in it would be nice.
My grandpa, on my moms side, used to drive street cars back in the day... and after they got rid of em, he drove busses... got some pics of him someplace, standing infront of one of the street cars that he drove.
