Ali looked out on the front step where she put a plate of carrots and lettuce and noticed that the famous bunny had eaten some of the stuff and made a mess with the rest. There was even some white rabbit fur left at the scene. She's gonna bring it to school tomorrow for Monday Memories. It seems to work out perfectly each year in that she finds all the eggs and then only finds her basket. She's never found the basket early and is totally convinced that it will only appear after finding all the eggs first. Way cool following her around with the camcorder. I'm gonna love showing her those videos when she's older. I'm thinking at her wedding and use the metaphor that she's looking for Mr. Right and didn't find him until she found all the other (bad) eggs first. ;-)
We had a nice dinner and watched a Tom Hanks movie, had some dessert and then napped.
You may recall that just last week, my father-in-law got the good news that the treatments for his esophagus cancer seemed to work. He was so relieved.
Yesterday he fell and broke his hip. He had surgery and the doctor is optimistic for a full recovery. Said he broke it in a very good spot and it should heal well.
In the meantime, Inks' brother is staying with his mother. We suggested he call the county and get her some day care services so he can work. He seemed hesitant about doing that. He had just best not be thinking of leaving her alone all day. He's between a rock and a hard place. He needs to work. She can't be left alone. It'll be several days before her husband is out of the hospital and then we don't know if he'll need to be in some rehabilitation/pt situation for awhile.
With us 120 miles away, seems all we can do is worry.
Terry, I'm sorry to hear about your father-in-laws broken hip. That certainly throws a monkey wrench in his plan. Do they know anyone in town who they could hire to look after her until he's back?
Me2, I LOOOVVVEED the picture with the two chocolate bunnies, one with his ears eatten off! TOO FUNNY!!! Hope you're feeling better real soon. Ittiz a royal 'itch whatever ittiz. You'll have it quite sometime.Â
My Master, I really like the "bad egg" metaphor. Very Cooler!
Master/Kitch, "Saw" is a great movie artsy-wise. Didn't know it was only made in 18 days. Two things I bring from the movie, 1) How/when did the patient get outta the hopspital? 2) I'm still smacking myself in the noggin' for NOT seeing the OBVIOUS! Me, I can understand... YOU GUYS?!!! Come ON! You're better Hunter's un'me and shouldda got it! :D
Had a wwwwwoooonnndderful Easter. Started Sat with a road trip to Cabela's. Originally was gonna go to the Lakeville Fleet Farm, but figured may as well go the extra miles since so close and hit Cabela's. I'd never been to the main store - by-the-by, the Outlet Store to the south has now closed... - and just LOVED IT!!! They're going to be building an even BIGGER Cabela's in Rogers. Not sure when ittiz to open.
And decided Sat to go fishing on Easter since the day was supposed to be so nice! So, I didn't get my eggs coloured Sat nite to help the Easter Bunny. But, it worked out otay. Since would be gone on Sun, the Easter Bunny came early Sat nite and he just used the white eggs. WE was happy.
So, got up Easter AM, packed up and went to... Crosby! Yup! :D The Mississippi was open. Had fun, but didn't catch enkneethang. Lost more heavy bottom weights and leaders than I like to think about. WE started a fire... And with the wind it caught some leaves and stuff under a nearby HUGE downed tree on fire!!!! Fortunately, got it put out. (But my heart was in my throat this AM getting ready for work when I head on the #9 that there was a big grass fire SATURDAY NITE! Fortunately, it was way out west somewheres!) It got cloudy and the wind picked up (see above!), but still... A bad day fishing is better than a good day at work. I was just ssssoooo happy to bee outside, enjoying nature. Wish the day had been prettier, but. Oh, well. It was still a WONDERFUL Easter!
Got a pic of this writing on the downed tree. Don't know how I'll get it uploaded, but I've got it. It says [something like] "Pookie and Team were here. Treasure Hunt 2005, 2-1-05"
My GPSr said that yesterday was supposed to bee an "average day" for fishing. Figure "average" in FL, maybee. Ittiz yust too cold here yet and the fish are still sluggish. Note, however: There ARE a few mayflies oot'un aboot! Fish aren't coming up yet, though. Didn't hear a fish break water once.
Today's supposed to be a "poor day" for fishing. This izz a GOOD thang! If "good" or "excellent" or enkneethang better'un "average" was gonna have to take the day off and try again! :D Ittiz just GLORIOUS out there today!
Fished from about 8:30 AM until 2:30 PM. Stopped on the way home from fishing and got three movies. Blockbuster was open Easter! Had basketti'un meatballs for dinner - ittiz what WE wanted - and then did the movie thang. I fell asleep during the second, which I picked out... "Taking Lives"???? I think that was it. So, will have to rewatch.
Had a nice, beautiful, GREAT Easter. Hope everbuddy else's was nice, too.
Â
OH!!! Before I forget! This izz TOO FUNNY!!!Â
Found an empty pill bottle beside the river, close to where someone had made a fire... Me, ever nosey, took a look.
It was for VIAGRA!!!!!!!!!!! YES!!!!!!!!!! I am NOT joking!!! Meant to get a pick'o it and forgot! Meant to remember the guy's name, and the doctor's, but forgot that too!
Ter, so sorry to hear about your father-in-law! Gosh! If it's not one thing, ittiz 20!!! I bet you and Inks are about to pull your hair out. Hope things work out okay for your brother-in-law and watching your mother-in-law.
Mom, did you get my message? Ittiz hard Peeps time! :D
everyone's invited to treasure chest's and ares' house on saturday april 9th at 4pm to celebrate his homecoming.

Mark Richer "How Much Are You Willing To Donate Yearly To Help Keep This Place Running" 3/29/05 9:30am
This place will be down for possibly a few hours later today -- probably after 4 PM Pacific time. We're going to be running a DOS-based memory test on the 4 GB of RAM in the server so we don't know how long it will take.

369 Summit Avenue: Cochran Park, Built in 1923; Period Revival in style; Paul Manship, sculptor. The park was an unoffical playground for children since the late Nineteenth Century. The triangle of land park was given to the City of St. Paul in 1923 by Emilie B. Cochran, in memory of her husband, Thomas Cochran, who lived in St. Paul from 1869 until his death in 1906. Thomas and Emilie Cochran lived in houses at 229 Summit (now the parking lot for the Cathedral) and on Western Avenue near the park. Thomas Cochran, Jr. was born in 1843 in Brooklyn, New York, the fourth of seven children of James Blair Cochran (1799-1858), who immigrated in 1819 from Kirkcudbright, Scotland, and Catherine Baylis/Bayless Cochran (1816-1849). Cochran attended the City Academy of Brooklyn and graduated from the Brooklyn Polytechnic School in 1859. He then entered New York University and was awarded his degree in 1863. With the advent of the Civil War, Cochran joined the Seventh Regiment of New York Volunteers, the so-called "Kid Glove" regiment comprised of young men from the more prominent New York City families. However, Cochran never left New York because he suffered from tuberculosis. Cochran attended Columbia Law School from 1863 until graduation in 1865 and he was admitted to the New York bar. In 1866, Cochran joined the New York law office of Man & Parsons, where he apprenticed with Elihu Root (the future Secretary of State under President Theodore Roosevelt.) In November, 1867, Cochran married Emilie Belden Walsh (1844-1924), whose family had long-since established itself in the hardware business in New York City. In 1869, because of his health, Thomas and Emilie Cochran moved to St. Paul, Minnesota, where Cochran established himself in the real estate business with his college friend (and brother of Emilie) James R. Walsh, in the form of Cochran & Walsh, and in the insurance business with Henry H. Sibley (1811-1891), the first governor of the state of Minnesota. Cochran helped organize the Minnesota Mutual Life Insurance Company, formed other real estate firms (Cochran, Rice & Walsh (S. B.) and Cochran & Walsh,) organized the Northwestern Investment Company and served as its president in 1898, assisted in the building of the first bridge to Fort Snelling, and assisted in determining the location for Macalester College. The Cochran family joined the House of Hope Church and Cochran was active as an elder and teacher. In 1870, Cochran was elected a life-member of the Minnesota Historical Society, and in the 1880's and 1890's, he served as a trustee of Macalester College. Cochran was very active in the early international YMCA movement, joining in 1863, and attending its international convention in Philadelphia in 1889. Cochran had a reputation as a strong and effective public speaker who, in July 1891, spoke out against a prize fight scheduled to take place in St. Paul. Cochran was so effective in organizing opposition that Governor William R. Merriam was forced to cancel the event. Cochran was also instrumental in the progressive development of St. Paul's Summit Avenue and Midway district, and actively supported the St. Paul City Railway in establishing the first electrified rail transportation system from Victoria Street to Cretin Avenue. Cochran's businesses survived the economic panic of 1893-1898, and around 1899, he created the Northwestern Investment Company, Inc. In 1906, his company was involved in a loan of $500,000 to George Draper Dayton (1857-1938), a Worthington Minnesota banker and the founder of the Dayton Department Store chain. Thomas and Emilie Cochran raised six children: Alexander Robertson Cochran (1869-1893); Thomas Cochran III (1871-1936), who was a partner in the investment banking firms of J. P. Morgan & Co. and Drexel & Co. and who married Martha Andrews Griffin (1871-1914); Emily Cochran (1872-1924), who remained unmarried throughout her life and who, despite her family's wishes, converted to Catholicism with the support of Archbishop John Ireland (1838-1918) and was a friend of American writer Henry James; Williams Cochran (1876- ), who joined the Thirteenth Minnesota Regiment and fought under General Arthur MacArthur (1845-1913) in the Philippines during the Spanish-American War, and who later married Theodora von Duhn (1898- ); Moncrieff Mitchell Cochran (1879-1931), who married Margaret Turner Davis (1881- ); and Louise Cochran (1881-1968), who married Arthur Harold Savage (1872- ). In 1926, Thomas Cochran's son commissioned the sculpture, " Indian Hunter and His Dog " to honor his father. The sculpture stands in a pool surrounded by four bronze geese. In the 1960's, the sculpture was vandalized and the city of St. Paul decided to move the sculpture to a safer spot near the Como Park Conservatory. A fiberglass copy of the sculpture was made for Cochran Park. A few years ago, neighbors petitioned the City to move the original bronze sculpture back in the park, so the two sculptures were switched. A native of Minnesota, Paul Howard Manship (1885-1966) was one of the outstanding American sculptors of the early part of this century. Manship attended the former Mechanics Arts High School in St. Paul. His work bridged the traditional and the modern. Manship used archaism as a link to the new, making elegant sculptures clearly divorced from the increasing conventionalism of other figurative sculpture of the period. With its characteristic polish and streamlined stylization, Manship's work is often linked to the development of Art Deco, a dominant style in 1920's American architecture and design. He became a sculptor after discovering that he was color blind. Paul Manship said many times that "Indian Hunter and His Dog" was his favorite sculpture because it reminded him of his childhood spent in St. Paul. He died in New York City. In his will, he donated half of the works of art that were still in his possession to the Minnesota Museum of American Art in St. Paul.
always time 3 do homework!!!
the really cool part of the "indian hunter and his dog" is that there is one in como! the weird part is that the one in como is the FAKE...but at one time the real one was there!!!
I'm gonna love showing her those videos when she's older. I'm thinking at her wedding
I think she would kill you first.
Really sad to hear about your father in law Terry V.
I haven't rented "saw" yet
I did ,but haven't been able to watch it yet. We had some really bad news Saturday night. We went out sat night and came home late (about 3am) and had a message from my wifes sister. Her boyfreind was in the intensive care unit in Des Moines, Iowa after having a blood clot removed from his brain. He's expected to remain paralized at least on his left side. So far he hasn't woke up. We drove down immediatly and I just got home last night. Not a happy Easter for us. He's going to have a Treach (for breathing) put in today and will have a feeding tube in his nose. Prognosis is not good. Another complication is that he is not married to my wifes sister. They have been engaged for over 5 years and together about 12 and never did the deed officially.
If anybody hasn't done a living will, heres another reminder!!!
You never know what life brings, get it done!
Kitch, I'm very familiar with Paul Manship. My ass hole brother told me it was my uncle Paul Manship (same name) and I thought it was for a couple years. Learned a lot about his art. My uncle even had the indian and the dog statue in his house.
Her boyfriend was in the intensive care unit in Des Moines, Iowa after having a blood clot removed from his brain. He's expected to remain paralyzed at least on his left side. So far he hasn't woke up.
Sorry to hear of that 3M. Your post and others are scaring the shit outta me right now. I went in today for a terrible headache that I've had since Saturday and after a few tests they set me up for an emergency MRI. I go within the hour. I was thinking positive because I know what thinking negative can do to a person, but it's hard to do that when things could point otherwise. Anything could happen. I'm not sure how long it takes to get results but they said it would be today and I could possibly end up in the hospital tonight. Either way I have some fun pain pills and muscle relaxants to help once I get home tonight.
My heart is beating big time. I hope her boyfriend makes a decent recovery. But you're right, it doesn't sound good. I'll let cha know what I find out as well. Wish me well people.

Mark forgot to do an egg count before he hid the eggs! they ate some of them last night when dying them. So we hope they found them all thismorning.

Update on my father-in-law....

Paul.

Haven't heard anything more tonight - yet. Hope things are quiet on the western front.
Is today the 1st spring rain???
I'm not sure, but I'm pretty sure it's the first bit of thunder I've heard for the season.
He's going to have a Treach (for breathing) put
in today and will have a feeding tube in his nose.
My uncle even had the indian and the dog statue in his house.
sorry 2 hear the bad news MMM....
Just one more reason to live life one day at a time (good show) and all of that other stuff that I thought I would learn if I ever got deployed...
Sorry to hear about your wifes sister's boy friend 3m=(
Her boyfriend was in the intensive care unit in Des Moines, Iowa after having a blood clot removed from his brain.
