some rich SOB...needs to PONY up a few million and make a quality team....

I'm tired of this B.S.....he's gotta be the luckiest SOB on the face of the earth to even put up an half way decent team with his payroll. What a tight ass.

oh...and buy a ballpark ....ya jerk.

"I hate to say I told you so but.................... "

No you don't or you wouldn't. What satisfaction do you get out of it?

"needs to PONY up a few million and make a quality team...."

If we saw poor quality baseball this week (or all year), I missed it. Three division championships in a row is a pretty rare feat, even in this division.

"oh...and buy a ballpark ....ya jerk."

Pohlad's not going to do it alone. What are you willing to accept?

It's one more week of Yankee Mystique and Curse of the Bambino. If that isn't enough to make you barf.

Hope the Sox make it to the Series and the Braves kick their ass in four games.

I know exactly the type of person that Pohlad is.....heck i'm one of them.....

I can still call him a jerk for not dipping into his grave an buying a stadium.

This division is the main reason that this ball team has a hard time selling seats!!! Like I want to go and see shitty games vs. playing the quality other divisions...

"Like I want to go and see shitty games vs. playing the quality other divisions...'

If that's your excuse for not getting off your duff and going to a couple games a year, it's lame. This team isn't the Saints. They can compete with any other team in the league,

Whattaya wanna see in order for you to grace them with your presence? The Twins are a fine fielding, clutch hitting team. They play like the National League.

In the east,: After Boston and New York, you have Baltimore, Toronto and Tampa Bay.

The Central had a race to watch for a good part of the year. Almost as good as the one in the West.

OK....I'm settling down........but......

Maybe the twins just need to go out and get....Ron "Papa Jack'' Jackson...

For those of you that don't know he is the batting coach for the RedSox. If he can do the magic he did with Ortiz just think what he could do with our entire team.

Maybe he could make Hunter a "big time" homerun hitter.

"Maybe he could make Hunter a "big time" homerun hitter."

I'd take a steady, consistent bat. If the Twins aren't a home run team, it's not a big deal to me. I think Hunter is playing with more confidence. He upped his average by 20 points. That still might not be what they were looking for when they signed him, but it's an improvement from .250.

SOX WIN!!

I predict the biggest bandwagon jump ever now that Boston pulled off a 0-3 deficit to the mighty Yankees for the biggest post season comeback ever to make it to the World Series!

It's also cool that former Twins hitter David Ortiz got the MVP.

Even though the game was a blowout, the final out was very emotional.  And I'm more of an anti-Yankees fan than a Red Sox fan.  To put it into football perspective, it's kinda like if the old Tampa Bay Bucs beat the Packers to get to the Superbowl. (which couldn't have happened but you get the gist)  But it was extremely cool that it was a bitter rival like the Sox to beat the stripes in their own home.

My prediction: Sox win the World Series in game 6 against Houston.  If it wasn't for the historic win tonight, it would be pretty hard for who to root for if the Oilers win tonight.

Im not a bandwagon jumper-onner.... Ive been down with the Bo-Sox, since 97, when I went to Boston, with my mom, sister, and aunt.... haha... dunno why I had to note that, but.... i did, so there..

cool shot, CM.... number 13 (formerly number 16) Dougie Doug is right there, in the middle of it all

I'm hoping that the Astro's win tomorrow/tonight...  I'm thinking that Boston vs Houston, is gonna tell us all who's gonna be elected president.... think about it Kerry is from Mass. and Bush is from TexASS.

My prediction: Sox win the World Series in game 6 against Houston.

I think if Houston gets there they will beat the Sox if Schilling can't pitch. If he can it is a tossup. If the Cards get to the Series, Boston in six with Schilling and seven without.

Clemons is up tonight right?  If so, I don't see how the Cards will win.  Unless their hitting matches the NYY

Twins lose Guzman and Koskie. Does anyone think they'll repeat as division champs?

Wed, 12/15/2004 - 2:17 PM Permalink
Med2k

Yes, and I'll give you four reasons why.

Kansas City, Detroit, Chicago and Cleveland. If we don't win this division it would be embarassing.

That and a healthy Mauer will go a long way for us this year.

We still have reason to be optimistic.  We battled through injuries the past year, with Mauer and Stewart and others.  Hopefully this year we won't have as many.  Santana should be dominant for a full year, not half a year like he was last year.  We've got some young arms who could help us.  We do have talent who can step in.  They did in various situations last year.  I hope the Twins can sign Joe Randa to replace Koskie.  I think he'd fit in very well with the team.  And Med2K is right.  We don't have that tough a division.  Chicago is totally dismantling it seems so it will be hard to figure out what will happen with them.  Cleveland is young and can only get better, one would think.  They still may be a year or two away.  We'll just have to see.

I see Detroit improving more this year, Cleveland, too.  I think both can give the Twins trouble.  It is hard to say what Chicago will do. They are making a lot of changes.

Santana, Radke, Silva: Mays gets healthy.

That would fill infield gaps.

The Twins, at $56,615,000, have the third-highest player payroll in the American League Central Division, behind the White Sox ($72,228,000) and Tigers ($68,998,183). Cleveland is at $41,830,400, the Royals at $36,881,000.

Minnesota is 20th of baseball's 30 teams. The bumbling Yankees are No. 1 at $205,938,439.

The Rat would like to go to the game tonight just to heckle the Yankees. They stink, and it's pretty funny.

But the thought of having to sit through a ceremony where Carl Pohlad gets inducted into the Twins Hall of Fame is not to my taste. I guess we could show up around the 2nd or 3rd inning.

This guy tried to shut down the team -- hell, sweep every trace of it away -- with his buddy, Bud Sieleg, egging him on. You can't just forget things like that. The Rat was at his wits end.

What sort of armtwisting went on with this political induction? They couldn't find anyone else? Is Frank Qulici in the Twins Hall, yet?

I didn't go all weekend. Don't care for the games with huge crowds. They're hard to watch.

Before Twins fans convince themselves that minor league pitching phenoms Scott Baker and Francisco Liriano are going to anchor the rotation for the next decade, they might recall some of the other would-be pitching saviors who couldn't make the jump from the minors to the Metrodome.

Here's a top-10 list of Twins pitching busts since 1982:
