"Never Been Any Reason" was recorded by a group called Head East.  I guess that was supposed to send us to a St. Paul park.  Could orthodontics mean retainer?  Retaining wall?

Hearing you on the job front. I thought I was all ahead of the game graduating a semester early and getting a jump on the job market.

And here I am, 4 months later with a diploma before my friends, yet nothing to show for it. I would have rather stayed and hung around campus, at least my days wouldn't be so boring.

I just applied for "Assistant to the Executive Director" for the MIAC (Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference) which is pretty much exactly what I want to do, but I've gotten excited before so I'm taking this one slow. They dwindle down the applicant pool to 15-20 at the end of the month, keeping my fingers crossed.

Didn't mean to get into a rambling state, you may now resume your regular cooler thread.

I'm wondering whats gonna happen at my work. They're still saying theres gonna be a layoff, but thats what they've said since december. I'm thinking that it won't effect me, but not sure. Even if it does I don't think it will last long unless the Whiterain brand really goes down the tubes. We are selling the new body wash like crazy right now. Shampoo sales are down. Hope they pick up soon,  the new packaging should help.

Wow! Big excitement at Med2K's place. I'm glad they were able to get it out before it got to the house. Any other damage, other than underbrush burned, etc?

WOW!!  I'm glad you're OK M2K!  Kudo's to the SPFD!  You Rock!

No other damage other than the brush. We were extremely lucky they go here when they did. That fire came out of nowhere. It wasn't 5 minutes from the point I smelled smoke, it it being 20 feet from our back door.

You know that question people ask, what are the things you would grab out of your house if it was on fire. I was running around like a chicken with it's head cut off looking for stuff to take.

The fire dept. said that it was probably the same train that was dragging a wheel or something and there were fires reported from the east side of St. Paul, all the way to Minneapolis.

The firemen were awesome, I was running in and out of the house getting tham all water and they were saying thank you every time. I kept saying I'm the thankful one here.

The History of Flatware
The Spoon

Spoon-like implements were used long before knives and forks and are probably as old as civilization itself. The earliest form of the spoon is generally thought to be the shell. To make the shells more convenient to use, wooden or bone handles were attached, which produced an implement very similar to the modern spoon. Even today, many decorated serving spoons employ the ancient shell motif.

Other early spoons were made entirely of wood, a natural development from using a flat or hollowed piece of wood for eating purposes. Ivory and slate were also common in early spoons. Fine examples of spoons in all three materials have been preserved as relics from ancient Egypt, dating back more than 4000 years.

http://www.silverembrace.com/html/tablewareHistory.htm

looks like to me ...got the name from being "FLAT"

The documented history of holloware is even older than that of flatware. The ancient tombs of Ur revealed traces of silver and gold holloware nearly 6000 years old. Ancient tombs in Greece have also yielded traces of silver and gold bowls and ornaments.

holloware is basically vases, bowls, ....

FOR ESD and Lilman

262 Bates --The Dayton's Bluff Elementary School opened here in 1974, replacing three older schools - Sibley, Mounds Park, and Van Buren. The present school is located close to where Van Buren School had been.
Van Buren was built in 1882
, with additions in 1883 and 1887. Included among former students was Chief Justice of the U.S. Supreme Court, Warren Burger; U.S. Supreme Court Justice Harry Blackmun; and District Court Judge Edward Devitt.A fire station sat on the northwest corner of Conway and Maple, across the street from Van Buren School. Students enjoyed watching the beautiful white horses that pulled the fire rigs. Before the Fire Station was built, Dayton's Bluff had an all-volunteer fire department.

Thought I'd share a bit of my son's latest email. He is certainly having some experiences...

Anywho, I’m on vacation until the end of the month. Have so many unused days and only this month to use ‘em since you can’t take vacation within your last three months. Will spend most of it in my town just reading and fighting skin cancer. I’ve started to notice my nose is MUCH darker in all the pictures I’ve developed, so I’ve started putting sunscreen on my nose and back of my neck. It’s PC issue and well all call it “Birth Control Sunscreen” since it smells horrible, applies as pure white, DOES NOT absorb well or fade away to the color of your skin but turns friggin’ Purple when exposed to sunlight!! Who the hell would ever buy that?? Not that my social life is hoppin’ here in San José to begin with, but do the kids in town reeeeally need another reason to make fun of me? I think not.

Oh yeah, I also kicked a chicken out of my house. Literally. Tried to chase it out, but it took a giant dump on my floor in protest. So, well, I tucked my right boot under its bum, whispered sweet nothings into its ear, and heaved it soccer style out my door. Rat bastard...
