a friend of mine is looking for a fun "hard core party" resort with cabins... for a weekend with the girls........where 2??? isn't marley working somewhere??
My gripe about Cold Stone Creamery is that they don't offer regular cones. They just have those huge waffle cones and there's no way I could eat a whole one of those. I think they should offer a regular cone for people who just want a small portion and for children. Getting off my soap box now. But interesting that you brought that up because I was thinking of that this evening and think I might even send them a suggestion or something. The only time I went in there I left without buying anything because of that.
Another good ice cream is Blue Sky Creamery. They have had a booth in the Food Building at the state fair for a few years now and it's sold at Byerly's.
I agree too OT - That's why it ended up costing so much too. There's an empty one sitting in my freezer right now that Ali couldn't even start to finish. But she just HAD to have one ya know. They have the bowls that you can get the waffle cone stuff slid around the outside. But you're right - no regular cones. After seeing the price of their 'special' cone, you can easily see where they make there mula.
Yeah they have the nitro ice cream booth in the food building. Best ice cream ever, hands down. I found out they had it at byerly's too, and they have a shop... in lakeville? or something like that. Personally I think it's better than cold stone, only thing cold stone has over em is more toppings and whatnot, but honestly that's just filler.
The only thing I don't like about it is it's always so darn busy. No way in hell am I going to wait in line for a half hour or more for an ice cream cone. I don't care how good it is.
Don't knock it until ya try it Kitch. Remember this?
Oh, and the kid loved the singing so much she 'made' me tip so she could hear what song was for her. She apparently showed enough enjoyment in it the the single lady behind us tipped just so Ali could hear another ditty. I don't think that those behind her were in any kind of tipping mood after that. ;-)
Another place to get good cones was that little ice cream shop in downtown Afton. But I think I read somewhere that they've closed?Â
Best ice cream ever: My Dad's homemade peppermint stick made with the left over candy canes from our Christmas tree! We had an old wooden hand-crank maker that you had to crank forever and keep adding ice and salt to around the bucket to keep it cold. And then we girls got to lick off the dashers. :) It was so good! That old freezer is still in the basement but I've never tried it because it smells kind of musty from the basement. Okay, the real reason I haven't tried it is that I'm afraid I'm not strong enough to beat it for as long as it takes. But it's one of those "things" that I'm just not able to throw away.

Agreed! Selmas! Love it! They're still open as far as I know. I remember them going through some kind of fight with the city about the right-of-way for the road in front of them but I thought it got all worked out. The atmosphere is the best.
Kitch, that pink house on the northeast corner? I have no idea but I'm going to ask my daughter to go home that way today. Guess I have some investingating to do!  :)

I normaly go there to get a bucket to go. Cheaper in the long run. But I agree OT, sucks that you can't just a get a small cone.
$12 for 2 cones is not worth it..I dont' care what you say!!!
oh wait ...hmmmm...is that a clue??
can you get cable cones?
The only thing I don't like about it is it's always so darn busy. No way in hell am I going to wait in line for a half hour or more for an ice cream cone. I don't care how good it is.
Kitch.... I'll give you my personal take on cable cones......
Comcast has orange cones on the front over every truck they are supposed to deploy when they park.
Cable cones-
Also... I only tip at Cold Stone if they promise not to ring the bell and sing.
Don't knock it until ya try it Kitch. Remember this?

A $5 milkshake!
I'd pay $5 for a milkshake
Â
but...$6 for a cone??? geez....
The straw in Mia's $5 milkshake changes from paper to plastic.

Dale and Maryland there is a little place very good and cheap.
Nothing like waiting in a line at the wrong theater.
What do they get for it? An escort over to the right theater!
They should say "Tough cookies! We told you idiots months ago it wouldn't be playing here".
Ohhh yeah, forgot about that place. I found it when I was searching for a cache in the nearby park. Great ice cream there too.
"Tough cookies! We told you idiots months ago it wouldn't be playing here"
