eh... I wasn't too keen on it. Kinda a letdown after the first one. Plus I watched it later in an evening, kept nodding off.. then they'd blare that 60s ditty and it'd wake me up.
Zephy says Toby Keith will be at his camp on Tuesday. I've seen ads for the Academy of Country Music Awards, which will be shown on CBS on Tuesday at 7:00, and they say Toby Keith will be entertaining the troops live. So maybe we'll get to see the troops at Camp Liberty where Zephy is?
Toby Keith's song "American Soldier" is up for an award. You can listen to it here:
I'm just trying to be a father Raise a daughter and a son Be a lover to their mother Everything to everyone Up and at 'em, bright and early I'm all business in my suit Yeah, I'm dressed up for success From my head down to my boots
I don't do it for the money There's bills that I can't pay I don't do it for the glory I just do it anyway Providing for our future's my responsibility Yeah I'm real good under pressure Being all that I can be
And I can't call in sick on Mondays when the weekends been too strong I just work straight through the holidays And sometimes all night long You can bet that I stand ready when the wolf growls at the door Hey, I'm solid, hey I'm steady, hey, I'm true down to the core
And I will always do my duty no matter what the price I've counted up the cost, I know the sacrifice Oh, and I don't want to die for you but if dyin's asked of me I'll bare that cross with honor 'cause freedom don't come free
I'm an American soldier, an American beside my brothers and my sisters I will proudly take a stand when liberty's in jeopardy I will always do what's right I'm out here on the front line Sleep in peace tonight American soldier, I'm an American soldier
Yeah, an American soldier, an American beside my brothers and my sisters I will proudly take a stand when liberty's in jeopardy I will always do what's right I'm out here on the front line So Sleep in peace tonight American soldier, I'm an American An American, an American soldier
wasn't tonite the nite that Toby Keith was supposed to visit the troops? I do not have access to the Country awards....so I was waiting for any of you to say if they showed him on the show........did anyone see Zeph??
I saw the part where Toby Keith was singing for the troops live via satellite. I'm guessing it was about 6:00 am Wednesday morning in Iraq. Not sure if he was at Zeph's place or not, they just said it was an "undisclosed location." They had lots of cameras on the soldiers, and a lot of the soldiers were holding up signs for people back home.
So Zephy, did you see him? What time was he at your place?
No, I went to Rosemount Elementary, Scott Highlands Middle School (with 6 kids form my elementary school--darn zoning laws), and Rosemount High School.... and for you younger kids, I started in 1979, for you older kids.... that has GOT to make you feel how old you really are ;)
So Zephy, did you see him? What time was he at your place?
I saw him from 1200-1245... we got there early (1100) and saw some crappy 3rd Infantry Division Band... They have balls, I can sing about as good as them, I can keep a beat (but I cant dance), and there is NO way that I would have gone on stage  Toby was very near where I live then, and he was about 15 minutes away on another 'base' within my base later last night. I had to stay late for work so I couldn't make it to the tv broadcast part of it. :(
I have a couple pics posted on the Picture Thread, but I couldnt move around and they dont move much on stage (not like a rock band, anyway), so they all turned out about the same. I took a picture of the crowd, but I am still trying to figure out how to shrink it enough to get it to be postable...
It was fun, though... it is only the 2nd USO show they have had for us since I got in theater back in November.
Bear...have us seen the stuff he's selling??
Â
Geeez...I was thinking of his wife......I mean I was......ummm nevermind....... ;)
HA!  - It's like your mouth is falling down the stairs.
