Clue #1
To Winter Fest 2005 your are heartily welcomed
Tis a cold time of year to be out and about
Many more clues will captivate and frustrate
Don’t stay out too, long you’ll freeze your little snout.
My hiding place is secret, and also very secure.
I won’t be found easily, you can be sure
That the urge to seek, for this there is no cure.
My treasure to find, that is the cure
Clue #2
Where would you hide if you were me?
Under a rock or up a tree.
When looking for me there is no fee.
Answers to these are part of the key.
Clue #3
Don’t give up now, finding me is rare.
It shouldn’t be to easy, that is only fair.
Is looking for me harder than you care?
For both outside, we make a good pair.
Clue #4
Early morning times, I enjoy the most.
I’m still hard to find, of this I can boast.
Not by any waters, not by any coast.
Lots of bundled bodies, to these I am a host.
Â
geez..the clue comes out early...i wonder if I should think about calling somebody if i'm up there in the a.m. on thurs.
only thing that pops into my mind is Newspaper....
Snowmobile trail.Â
The North Branch Medallion has been found.......
well...I never drove up there....can't find it if you don't dig....
Â
I was hoping to go on the 17th. Oh well.

Bock Beer Festival & Fasching
New Ulm
You don’t have to be a beer lover to enjoy this pair of New Ulm events — but it helps.
Locals of primarily German descent have been lapping up August Schell Brewing Co. wares since 1860. The family-owned brewery expanded its product line and its market in more recent decades, and threw its first Bock Beer bash 12 years ago.
Festival-goers hunt for seven medallions hidden near the brewery site, adjacent to Flandrau State Park. Those who find the medallions receive prizes of up to $100.
The event includes plenty of German food, including bratwurst made with Schell’s Bock Beer, sauerkraut and soups. Bock Beer will be on tap, as will the brewery’s 1919 Root Beer and other beverages.
The Schell’s Museum of Brewing will also be open, and a limited number of brewery tours will be held.
The event, which typically draws more than 3,000 people, runs from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturday, March 4. Look for signs leading you to designated parking areas as you enter New Ulm, then hop a shuttle bus to the brewery. The admission charge is $5, with children 12 and under free.
On the same day, New Ulm’s Concord Singers sponsor the German version of Mardi Gras known as Fasching. The celebration features German-flavored singing, dancing, food, beverages, costumes, arts and crafts. Fasching runs from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at Turner Hall in New Ulm. Tickets are $6 in advance.
Information: August Schell Brewing Co., (507) 354-5528; Concord Singers, (507) 354-8850; New Ulm Convention & Visitors Bureau, (888) 4-NEW ULM.
I take it that Fitger's doesn't have their hunt any longer?
http://www.fitgers.com/events/bockfest.html

Clue #5
Three little pines are my guarding sentinels.
Of people close by we often talk
I know neither us, nor of Garrison they hear.
Some swish by first, and some just walk.
Clue #6
South of town, 30 & 61 are numbers close by.
Look under & up my wooden abode.
Safe, secure and dry I am.
Snow trailing all around but not on me
I am up but cannot see.
Clue #7
I am close to the start of a trail.
I am on top of the old NB rail.
A prairie sunrise to find or you will fail.
When I am found, do not place in the mail.
Lindsay Nordberg (Dave Nordberg, husband, owner of Domino’s Pizza) found the Medallion on Feb. 15th in the morning in the kiosk on the Sunrise Prairie Trail. Picture will follow.
Thanks,
Arlys Walberg
The clues are wrote by a local dentist and
the Medallion Hunters always seem to decipher the clues. Â Me- I'm glad I get
to read them all, as I don't get them!
Thank you joining us, we're very proud of our town & Â what it has to offer.

Who says lightning never strikes twice? Bonnie West, a fifty-seven-year-old yoga instructor and writer who's written for Mpls.St.Paul and other publications, unearthed the Twins' "Golden Ticket" two years in a row. The shrewd scavenger found the ticket through a series of ...
what the heck?? hmmmm
isn't this going on right now??
Scam
must be an insider's contest. Minneapolitans don't want us St. Paulites messing around in their treasure hunt.
I did find a Golden Ticket contest that I haven't heard of. And all you had to do is eat lasagna. I can even do that. ;-)

too bad it's already been found. That sounds very close to willy wonkaish, except for a trip to the simeks factory...
wooohooo...well since I didn't get my FIX during TMK's hunt...thank god I've got a ton of city hunts...and Magellan's geocache game going on...
oh this could be a fun summer of hunts..
(if a guy was retired he could almost do this professionally...find hunts accross the country and do the just the big ones....)
Heh, I think you just planned my retirement for me kitch. Though I had originally thought to just treasure hunt in general when I retire, but I bet there's a ton of medallion hunts around the states.
Bring on the Oakdale hunt! The magellan bit might be good too, but darnit there's rickrich to compete with.
more worried about dylan now....
KCORN...better start working on that "program" that let u know when the webpage changes...
I can see it now:
Retirement dream: Buy an RV and travel the United States competing in Treasure Hunts.
Retirement dream: Buy an RV and travel the United States competing in Treasure Hunts.
Â
I almost can see a purpose of a website (just for this)Â in the mix....why not...we can't be the only nutballs in this country of ours that loves to do this....
Â
Organize it by state, city, prize $$, etc.....
Â
a medallion/treasure hunt repository, nice!
I'm not focusing on the magellan hunt as much, I'll keep an eye on the clues, if it happens to be in St. Paul, at least we'll have some parks knowledge advantage on rickrich, but if it isn't, I'm not sweating it too much. I'm more interested now in finishing off my oakdale parks list, and hopefully I'll get a chance to get some scouting in before the hunt.
So both hunts start on June 20th! Cooler! I'll snatch up the SSP one first since there are fewer clues then slide under KC to grab that Oakdale one. It's in the bag I tells you. You can have the IGH treasure Kitch since my back can't take one more year of that one. Stillwater sounds kinda cool too.
Can you toss those links up on top of this thread of yours?
[Edited by on May 24, 2005 at 12:45pm.]
working it now :)
The roseville hunt starts on the 28th of June, so hey I can snatch up the Oakdale one, then run over to roseville.
got a link for it?? --egram it 2 me..
Done. Hey they're gonna have a Winter Carnival memorobilia exhibit... might be cool to have a look at.
Hopefully got this list done.
http://www.joelcd.net/medhunts/Oakdale.html
I need to get out and verify the coordinates, but they should be parking areas for the respective parks. There are two parks that aren't on the list yet, as I couldn't make them out from the satellite views, I'll just get out and scout them first.
NICE JOB...wow...thats cool!
Joel kicks a$$
Joel's my new cache-hiding partner !
cool, quite the positive reception on that. I'm considering doing the same for all the park systems in ramsey county, sorted by city. I had a good start on St. Paul already.
I still need to work out a system for park ammenities, but that file can be altered to add that info later.
So Ian, when can I expect some caches to find in those parks? ;)
Joel's my new cache-hiding partner !
:(
I'm going to need help on my project....I can use your help....
lol aww poor mucluck, I'm sure Ian would be happier galavanting around with you anyway. I just do research, I don't care who uses it (however it's nice to receive some compliments).

sooner, rather than later
:(
I thought our contract expired.

Oakdale: KC0GRN's Park Series (I)
Excellent, I'll have some good FTF opportunities then. Let us know if you see anyone hiding anything else out there, could get a jump on the entire hunt.
I'll have to pick out some other obscure cities to map out on this end of town. Now that towlebooth is outta the Woodbury territory, there's bound to be some areas in need of caches.
