Anyone else go see the fireworks display tonight? Went up to Indian Mounds near the beacon light and watched em myself. Interesting vantage point anyways, and easy to escape when they were done. Probably the best shot I got here, I liked the fact they were reflecting in a downtown building (look just to the right of the 1st sign).
Its been a fun, crazy ass year... im glad Ive gotten to know everyone, that ive gotten to know, and get close with those I have...Especially, recently.... Everyone here was so supportive, when everything went down between myself and my former partner in crime.... so, again, many, many thanks on that front.... Im sorry what I did recently with the "BC" stuff was very shitty, again... and none of that was intended, in the very least...
I havent been on here all that much lately, because of computer problems... but now that Ive gotten it back, im signing in here one last time, to say my final goodbye to everyone... I dont know where everyone will go when this place closes next month, but hopefully you all stick together.... I cant promise you wont atleast see me out in a park or something, but as far as my online involvement, its pretty much ending here and now, for reasons too many to dive into right here.... Just too much heartache and pain has been caused both to me, and from me, lately, basically for no reason, and I have no other ideas on what to do besides leaving.
So again, thank you all... and I'm sorry.
I'm sorry for any trouble, ive caused anyplace else, if I have, and again thank you all for everything you all have done for me this past year, in letting me actually feel like ive become "part of the family" where-as I really didnt feel it before....
Really dont know what I'm even saying, here, anymore, right now, so I guess I'll just end this now.
sincerly
Wicked Nick, Violent J, or whatever you want to remember me as.
Hang in there ol' pal. Just do what cha got to do and know that you're always welcomed back with open arms bud. Take care of yourself. You will be missed. :(
I read somewhere around here at PF that they would like us to delete any old threads that we no longer need/use. they're just taking up too much space.
Therefore I'm going to start cleaning house. Mostly in the NON Medallion hunting threads ("In the news", "Sports", "Wampeters, Foma..."). So, if there's a particular thread you want archived, let me know and I'll archive it.
I've archived all the main and invitational threads for the medallion hunt, and am now going to start working on the Mock hunt threads.
If you have your own folder around here, I won't touch it, so don't worry about that. However, you're also on your own as far as archiving if you want to keep something should this place shut down (Which is pretty much guaranteed at the end of this month).

WE STILL NEED TO MAKE SURE THEY ARE ALL NOTIFIED
I have not notified these people. I mearly suggested that they were donors that should be notified. I would do it, but am really short on time nowadays. I would apreciate somebody trying to contact them. Thanks in advance.
yup. i've got all the images though. you do notwant to know how big the archive is. i've got 320 megs on my computer dedicated to it. all in xml format for eventual entry into a database. i've got a tree of all the threads we've got, the threads, attachments, and user avatars.
the one thing i still haven't got is the user info page, because i know a lot of folks have kept their older taglines in it.
man. it took me damn near 2 months to get that sucker done. and it takes about 9 hours to archive the whole cooler from scratch.
i tell you. i read a hell of a lot of html finding search patterns i could pull out to delimit posts, find attachments, etc. these days its a 2720 line perl script that runs in like i said 9-10 hours.
actually, the archiving is gonna be an important part of this whole process. i'm not saving the html stuff myself. yes. i have all the images. yes i have all the posts. yes i have all your avatars and taglines (or at least the taglines as they were when i archived any given post).
however, and this is a really really big
however, its not in a usable format for publishing on the net. i still have to put together a script to take each thing and inject it into a database. hopefully, by the time the next hunt rolls around....
IRC is realtime, and posts aren't saved, except by logs.
Not sure what I'll do when this place folds, bummer deal it'll be so close to all the summer hunts... may just throw a forum up on my site and be done with it.
The talk of starting up another forum is okay I suppose, but again, how much will it end up running? hmmm...

Eulogy for a Veteran
Do not stand at my grave and weep.
I am not there, I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the Gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the mornings hush,
I am the swift uplifting rush
of quiet birds in circled flight,
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry,
I am not there, I did not die.

here is discussion about a new forum being started when this one goes kaput.
Only those that are known $$contributors$$ have access to the thread.

I like the lyrics and jokes threads personally.
Know what, I'll create a thread to keep track of this stuff.
I was going to work on my own threads tonight....I want to save crap to CD first...

bwwaaahhh...
Â
for lord sake...if they was really worried..they would limit our avatar sizes...and delete some of the really old stuff....
Â
ya we use alot on our stuff...but geez....
I'm not too worried about it, but I'll do what I can.
I know we've got threads we haven't used in years.
I'd archive all of it if I had the time, but I just can't.
Maybe if someone's willing/able to help out?
How do you do it??
Â
I thought ares was working on it...

How do you do it??
There's a program called threadsuck.
http://www.geocities.com/dh100h/
http://www.geocities.com/dh100h/files/threadsuck-windows.zip
I know ares was working on it, but I don't know what threads he's was working on.
I'll see what I can do tonight.......
I might have 2 many issues on "TIMEOUTS" on my laptop...
but threadsuck doesn't do everything:)
Yeah, as far as I remember, threadsuck just yanks the posts.

I personally only care about the Med Hunt threads.
everything under the water cooler refugee camp that i have access to. plus i run the script a few times a day to catch newer posts.
You da man!
Did you have to manually do that?
YUP---ARES ROCKS!!!

Nevermind my previous posts about archiving.
Sounds like Ares has performed his voodo magic and has it all taken care of already.
wooot!!

As long as me2 can keep her wickedly funny avatars, then cool.
I paid my dues. What happens to creepy mona?
What about an IRC thread?

I'm a recluse.
...So is it the whole PF, or just the cooler threads?
