I wear my Carter jersey to every game.  Although I was gonna cave in and buy a Moss one this next year.  That just saved me $80.  I will miss him though.  Both on and off the field.

"I will miss him though.  Both on and off the field."

My wife saw Moss get arrested Downtown.

She was sitting in the bus. Cop cars everywhere (because they all want to get in on that). "That's Randy Moss," someone on the bus yelled. "Why is he laughing?" said another.

Obviously quite a sight. Good time had by all.

They had about 150 posts since yesterday....kinda funny...this thread has what...15??

but I like one of the comments....

basically said ...wtf ...we won't have a defense now....awesome offense but no defense....

hmmmm.....that sounds like I've heard that b4....

Vikings get an early draft pick, I'd say look for a cornerback. Games I saw they were poor against the pass.

I say you get the best person you can get.  Doesn't matter as much the position.  A good defensive lineman or linebacker can help against the pass also.  If you draft by need, you could miss out on a super player that could make a big impact.

As the shock of the blockbuster Randy Moss trade begins to fade, the questions now turn to what Reggie Fowler knew and when he knew it.

In the aftermath of the Randy Moss trade, the speculation turned from why did the Vikings do it to whether or not Reggie Fowler signed off on the deal.

VU has been told the answer to the second speculation is "no" -- which has some people around the league shaking their heads. The matter has been compared to someone buying a house, completing a purchase agreement and, before moving in, the previous owner tears down the garage.

Yet, that appears to be the case. A Twin Cities TV station reached Fowler at his home Wednesday and when asked for a reaction, Fowler said that "it was the first he had heard of it" and hung up.

From the other side, VU has been told that the Moss deal was part of the ongoing process of preparing for the 2005 offseason and that, as owner, McCombs wasn't bound to include Fowler in the plans.

Yet, if a guy's going to plunk down $625 million for a team, he should at least be given the option of keeping the players he wants. Will this affect the purchase agreement? Probably not. But it is a troubling sign -- whether you think the deal indicates the Vikings aren't confident Fowler's bid will go through and are going on with business as usual or that they didn't care enough to let the new owner at least have his voice heard when it came to trading away a franchise player.

ATLANTA - Minnesota Vikings Wide Receiver Kelly Campbell has been arrested near Atlanta on drugs and weapons charges, the Atlanta Journal Constitution is reporting.

The wide receiver is charged with possession of marijuana and theft by receiving stolen property, including a handgun, according to police reports.

A police officer stopped Campbell on Thursday afternoon after watching his SUV cross the center line to pass three or four cars, the paper is reporting. Campbell drove in the wrong lane for 500 feet, according to reports.

The officer detected a strong marijuana odor when he approached the car and found a stolen handgun from Florida and a little more than a half of an ounce of marijuana when he searched the car, according to the reports.

The SUV was impounded and police confiscated Campbell's $18,000 diamond earrings, and a $12,000 Geneva Elite watch.

Randy Moss officially joined the Raiders on Wednesday, when Oakland completed a trade with the Minnesota Vikings for the star receiver.

Moss was scheduled to be formally introduced by his new team in an afternoon news conference, Raiders senior administrator Artie Gigantino said. The Raiders were working to restructure his base salary of $7.5 million for next season into a more cap-friendly signing bonus to be prorated over future years.

Well, it looks like I need to change my avatar then.  Kinda sad but I think I'd do the same thing he did if I was him.  Oakland has a much better chance on giving him a ring than the Vikes do - Especially now.  Good luck Randy!

Getting Smoot was a great signing. Looks like we might actually have a Defense this year. Now sign Burress (sp) and I will feel better about this team next year.

Oh don't worry, I'm sure it would blow over quickly with little coming of it.  Just have to swallow hard and deal with it.

Vikings trade 7th round pick to get Cowart. If he helps at all it is worth it. I'm not big on trading for 30 year old players but for a 7h round draft pick, worth it.

Looking Up

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2005/writers/don_banks/03/24/banks.vikes/index.html

We went for a drive to Mankato today to stop in on the training camp facilities but only made it to LeSueur when we had to stop and have a few drinks before heading back.  Even got to bowl a couple of games with the kid where we owned the place and they turned on all their disco stuff for us.  Pretty fun.  Especially cause we could see our actual shots up on the monitor after every ball.

The Vikings will exchange their No. 7 pick in Saturday's NFL draft with Miami's No. 5 pick in order to choose Auburn running back Ronnie Brown, projects SI.com. Then the Dolphins will take Auburn running back Carnell "Cadillac'' Williams with the No. 7 pick. The Dolphins own the No. 2 pick but the site speculated they will trade down with Tampa Bay to the fifth spot, with the Buccaneers selecting California quarterback Aaron Rodgers with the second pick

Vikings running back Onterrio Smith was detained last month at Minneapolis-St. Paul Airport after police found paraphernalia later identified as a kit used to circumvent drug tests.

Smith was neither arrested nor charged, but as of Tuesday it was unclear whether the incident will affect his status in the NFL's confidential substance-abuse program.

Smith acknowledged to airport police that he was carrying dried urine, along with a device called "The Original Whizzinator" and a bottle of pills labeled "Cleansing Formula." He told police the kit was "for making a clean urine test," according to the police report, and said he was taking the materials to his cousin.

Smith was suspended four games last season after testing positive for marijuana, his second "strike" in the league's program. A third "strike" would result in a yearlong suspension. An attempt to substitute a urine specimen qualifies as a positive test, but NFL spokesman Greg Aiello did not immediately know Tuesday whether possession of a masking device fits that criteria.

Smith could not be reached for comment. His agents -- Michael Sullivan, Doug Hendrickson and Jeff Sperbeck -- declined to comment. Vikings coach Mike Tice said he was unaware of the incident and had no comment.

According to the police report, a bag Smith was carrying set off security alarms before an April 21 flight. The alarms later were traced to a tube of toothpaste.

During the search, a Transportation Security Administration officer found "six or seven" vials of white powder in a clear bag, according to the report. Airport police were called to the scene and began inspecting the materials in a private room.

A sample from one of the vials tested negative for cocaine and opiates. Smith was then led into the room and identified the powder as dried urine. He also acknowledged the presence of a Whizzinator.

Smith was allowed to leave after questioning.

The $150 device includes a prosthetic penis attached to a jockstrap and plastic bag. Using a syringe, the user fills the bag with a precisely measured amount of water blended with the urine powder to create a clean sample. When the user takes a drug test in front of an observer, the water is released through the prosthetic with a valve (the instructions recommend the user cough to hide the sound of the valve unsnapping).

On its website, manufacturers of The Original Whizzinator market the instrument as an "undetectable,"foolproof" and "re-usable" urinating device.

Like other professional sports leagues, the NFL administers random drug tests to players.

According to Aiello, the NFL's testing guidelines include having the player take his shirt off and pull his pants down below his knees in front of an observer.

Smith, 24, was kicked off the University of Tennessee football team in 2000 for marijuana use and finished his college career at Oregon. Scouts considered him one of the top running backs available in the 2003 draft, but questions about his past drug use and character dropped him to the fourth round.

He rushed for 579 yards as a rookie and led the Vikings last season with 544 yards. Barring another suspension, Smith is expected to compete with Michael Bennett and Mewelde Moore for the starting job.

I would just die to know that there are security guards out there somewhere where they read this story and suddenly found themselves rethinking their sly way of letting someone go just to keep their 'cocaine' for themselves.  Only to find out it just gave them a real salty taste and no buzz.

He also acknowledged the presence of a Whizzinator.

Whizzinator - HAHA   $150 for a prosthetic penis alone isn't a bad price I guess.  What a deal.  HAHA

<edit> And because of this post I now have the word Whizzinator included with my pf spell check words.
