I would have thought they would at least hold off the unveiling until a week where they actually had a decent game. This last one was a total embarrassment. I wouldn't sink a dime into a place that has last weeks team playing there.

that's because you are a bandwagon fan.

Just stating the facts. If you don't like them, stop being such a bandwagon fan.

Oh, I'm probably one of their biggest fans buddy! That's the main reason I can give them shit! I'll always be behind them through thick and thin but I'll also point it out when they suck as well. Because of being a devoted fan gives me that right. IMHO

well the fact that you wouldn't support their new stadium because they were losing made me think you wouldn't support them because they are losing, forgive me for automatically connecting the two.

as a fan of the vikings, win or lose, I would like to see them get out of that POS metrodome.
Mon, 09/19/2005 - 4:12 PM Permalink
Clue Master

I would too! Especially with a retractable roof. I just think it'll be harder to get public buy-in after they played a few shitty ass games. It's still all good just bad timing IMHO

screw the roof....I can bring my own shovel and find a spot to sit...

It's an honor to be 'picked' to shovel at Lambau. There's always a line of people waiting to get in and shovel away.

I'd shovel at a new stadium...if its in st. paul...if in MPLS...screw um...

I wondered why they needed the roof, but John pointed out that it will be used for concerts and things as well as Vikings' games.

They need a roof so they can set it on fire!

some of the best concerts in the world are outside...

so that makes no sense to me...

heck...I will never forget "soul asylum" in the moshpit with the rain storm

I agree, but the ones in the winter are not as great.

I get why sports teams need stadiums. Hell, I love outside baseball. But when I think that the Vikings really only use their stadium for 8 regular season games, it sort of seems wasteful.

Bwaaaah!

-20 football game - Sorry wouldn't go. It's stupid IMHO. If I'm paying 80+ a ticket - I at least want some warmth during our harsh winters. To me it's a no brainer plus it calms both sides of the tax paying public.

Do any of you use fanball commissioner for your fantasy teams? Does the live scoring page suck for you too? Everytime we click on it our processor goes nuts trying to keep up. SLOW.

Wouldn't it be a waste of money to bet FOR the home team?

I'll always stand behind the Vikes no matter how much they suck. They've been pretty good when taking the spread into account. I wouldn't bet with them straight up though. That's just stupid. This bet was neither as it was a simple numbers payoff where we had zero as a final.

That's kinda complicated, and would require some study on my part, if I cared enough to take the time. I find that I have more than enough ways to part with my money, though.

That said, you're a loyal fan, and that's what matters.

That's the problem with pro football. There are so few games and they're hyped to the heavens. Every week is The Most Important Week of the Season. If the team loses, there's nothing to be thought about until next Sunday or Monday. I got off that rollercoaster years ago.

Baseball suits me. The pace and the flow of the season. Catch a game here, catch a game there (we went yesterday). Chill out on summer nights in front of the TV. That works.

Baseball games are too slow for me. My generation really. They better speed them up if they want continued success in the next 20-30 years.

I gotta agree with tim.....but IMHO put it outside...

all sports should be outside "Wild" shoulda did something outside 2...but that's just me.

I grew up in Cambridge...where they still don't have an hockey arena. I played alot of my highschool games outside....Nothing better than fighting along the boards with a guy and a fan helps you out with a jab to your hated Mora Mustang.

tim_the_hunter

I would love to see the Wild do an outside game, but there is no feasble location here in Minnesota. If they build a football stadium I am sure they will do it because I am possitive they could get 60,000 people out to a game and show people we are truly the state of hockey.

As for the vikequeens... I'm so sick of people blaming their lackluster offense on the loss of Moss. It's the easy assessment yes, but it doesn't tell the whole story. I agree with Vikes insiders that contend that the loss of Birk was just as devastating... the mistake the Vikes made was to not guarentee his contract if he agreed to play hurt. A hurt Birk>>>Withrow and Withrow at RG>>>>> the rookie. Our offense clearly needs a running game in order to be effective, and we just haven't been able to get one going with the patchwork O-line. Having Moss would help, but not nearly enough to make us win any or the 3 games we have lost, imo. And yes, Moss did look gimpy when that guy caught him from behind the other day Kitch... no way he gets caught if he is even 90%.

useless trivia

For the first time in NHL league history a NHL game was played outdoors on November 23, 2003. The game was held in Edmonton's Commonwealth Stadium in front of a record crowd of 57,167 people. The attendance more than doubled the previous record of 28,183 for an NHL game.

The Edmonton Oilers lost to the Montreal Canadiens 4-3.

Prior to the NHL game a game featuring former hockey superstars and Oilers alumni (including Wayne Gretzky) was played. The Oilers alumni won 2-0, despite being outshot 26-12.

I talked to Cam Connor of the oilers at the MOA the day after the game....he said it was the most fun he's ever had playing the game. (he was on the alumni game)

Michigan-Michigan St played a college hockey game outdoors using the same portable ice surface. I may be confused but I believe they had close to 80,000. The site lines are horrible at football stadiums but it's the fact that you are part of history that is cool.

If you took the Wild season ticket holders (18,000) add the people on the waiting list (I think it's around 15,000. You are getting up there and that's without additional single game purchases. I think we could pack whatever stadium whoever builds with hockey fans.
