Hid a cool themed cache today (same kind of container as above) - it's dairy themed - right next to a dairy.  I named it Sonoma Aroma...  has some cow stuff in it, and a travel bug I picked up the other day.

I am thinking about ordering a TB - and seeing if I can get it from here to you guys.

Thanks Ian!

I actually just met this lady who is caching out here - She has 897 (? i think) finds.  We have almost identical dogs.

She is going to be in Minneapolis this summer for a while.  I sent her the link to your Geocaching profile, and told her about all the caches you have hidden (yes, I have read almost all of them!) she seemed super interested in going out and finding some there.

Told me something about scavengers?  Do you know anything about those?

KCO - Sorry to have missed you!  I know you guys don't get to watch Bay Area Backroads there (local show) but Sunday night - they did a whole thing on Caching, infact they went to find one that was on Lombard St. in SF.  Really nicely done show on what it is.  I was impressed.

This month is on fire for me at work. (odd) - but hopefully by the end of the month, I will get a new cache built (I really like building them) (gee - perhaps I'll call it Cooler Crew) and stuff a TB in it - with a goal of getting to you guys and then getting it to come back to the original Cache.  That would be way cooler.

Eh it's cool, I might end up back in the Cali area someday, my relatives out there said come out any time I like, so I might just take em up on the offer.

Well I scouted a location to hide another cache.  I think I almost like hiding them as much as I like finding them.  I am going to order a travel bug and give it a mission to come find you guys.  I am now looking for something *related* to attach to the bug for it's mission.

Hoping to hide it by 4/1.

With any luck - planning on taking some newbies caching this weekend.  It's supposed to be about 75.  It's been that way all week... Almost too hard to work.

Let's have a race. I have unused bug tags. When you place yours, I'll place mine. Send your bug to Honorary Mayor of Coolerville. I'll send mine to Clueless Joe

That's CLASSIC, no ???

LOVE IT!!!!

OK - You are on!  I will let you know when I get it all set up. Perhaps instead I should just start mine in Clueless Joe, and you can start yours in Mayor.

I am going to order some TB's today!

As of right now - I don't have anything going on the day of April 2nd - so I could go check my cache and place the TB!

Hi Ian!

I see that your bug moved - and as chance would have it so did mine!  It sounds like yours is getting a little closer than mine will though in the first leg of it's journey!

Cheers!

Log Date: 5/12/2005
I'm in L.A. visiting my mum, and read about this one yesterday while looking for local caches to hit. So, I made the trip to pick it up today, before going home to the East Bay this weekend. I live about an hour out of San Francisco, so if I get ambitious, I'll get myself into the City sometime soon to get this guy to his final destination; otherwise, I'll drop him off somewhere near me, and will at least have gotten him almost all the way. :)

yeah yeah yeah - I was AT LAX that day with time to kill too - if I would have had my GPS on me - I SOOO could have gotten the TB right then and there!  Errr

Went out on a date with a guy 2 weeks ago - and got him interested in Caching - that is what we did on our date - he is hooked!

ok - so I'm being installed in January as the president of my service club (aka the cult)

I had to pick a theme and I picked winter carnival - which works out pretty well considering the positions of the board of directors that need to be installed - this is what I have so far - and any ideas ya'll might have - I'd love to hear.

President (me) - King Boreas

Past President - Queen of Snows (cause she advises me)

President Elect - Vulcanus Rex (cause she superseeds me)

Board Members (4) - the 4 winds

1st Vice (in charge of entertainment for the club) Klondike Kate

Then I get stuck...

secretary

treasurer

2nd vice (incharge of newsletters /pr etc)

YBF President (incharge of benevolant giving)

Ideas??

2nd vice- Ma Press

YBF President- Allarys?

Isn't there another queen or princess or something?

My two installing officers are the parents of Boreas (who's names allude me right now). I forgot to mention that. I gave my copy of the legand and book to one of them - I need to look it over - cause they will need me to write the script to go with the installation cermony procedures and get props for everyone and everything.

I am also going to write the invitation in meter like the clues are.

and (the most awesome part) we are having it in an old barn with greek food and everyone is going to wear *winter snow clothes* cause it will be at night in January in an unheated barn - with a bonfire outside

OHHH and my favorite band of all time Five Am - has offered to play my party too!

The other good thing - snowflake decorations will be cheap in all the after xmas sales.

TMK - actually the *medallion* will be my bell and gavel.

We already figured that part out.

You just gave me a fab idea. Usually we do a party favor for the people who come to install - I'm going to make a button I think for everyone.

man I'm putting more thought into this than I did my wedding. (course my commitment to this club has already lasted longer than my marraige.)

no, it's called the Active 20-30 its actually an international organization and we throw these outrageous parties - fun fun fun - some of the parties have had up to 5,000 people!

We raise tons and tons of $$$ and then we go out into our community and find the needest of the needy children and work with orgs. that help them to fund projects to make their lives better.

We like to joke that we are a drinking club with a charity problem, but we do tons of good in communities nation wide.

It works that way alot. The VFW and Croatian Hall in SSP are two of the largest contributors to kids causes here. Even though both are benevolent organizations, the bars they own and run are their highest profile.

I have a funny story about the Croatian Hall. Even though you're supposed to be a member, they don't turn anyone away. One evening I was down there with some friends and a young man walked in. He had driven over from NE Mpls hoping to have a letter he's received from a gal in Croatia translated for him. Everyone looked at each other and had to kind of laugh. "Sorry, no Croatians here".

Maybe you had to be there. :eyeroll:

It's a great group of people. It's given me the opportunity to travel places and meet lots of new friends. There was a trip in August to Costa Rica (but I had harvest) :frown:

There are trips all over the world every year tho - and lots of small trips inside the US. People home host one another and you get to make friends with lots of people you would never have the opportunity to meet otherwise.

I went on a cruise to Mexico in May with 500 other 20-30'ers. We had a good time. The cruiseline was dumb and made are alcohol inclusive in our markedup fare. Dumb dumb them - our alcohol bill was $$$19k!!!!

Luv,

I've got a few questions maybe you can help me...

My parents got a land in SE Minnesota on the riverbluffs...

they are considering planting grapes......and selling off what they can't/won't use.

A) How hard is it to get grapes to grow and take care of?

 Who would be a good contact for help getting started in this? U of Minnesota?

C) I dont' know a thing.....any good books?

Love4Vino

First are you talking table or wine grapes?

Some stuff you might want to know - you have to grow native to your climate grapes there - it's too cold and too short of a growing season for traditonal grapes like Cab and Merlot if you are thinking wine.

Also - irrigation, trellising and the small vines (i'm not counting grading the land etc) is about 40K an acre just to set up. So it's a spendy adventure.

shoot me an email at love4vino@yahoo and I'll see what contact info I can dig up for you beyond that.
