It's time for the Medallion Hunt! The first clue will appear on PioneerPlanet just after midnight Saturday, Jan. 22. Come back here to compare notes with other treasure seekers, but be certain you read the rules on the Planet's Winter Carnival page.

That's the midnight deal. More sleepless nights coming up. I better go get some shut-eye while I still can.
As far as Sorel boots go, I dont know if they have a web site or not, but they are what I wear religiously for medallion hunting, as well as any other long term outdoor winter activities, and let me just say, your feet will not even know that they left the house....and they work great for kicking hardened snow and busting chunks, cuz the heel is hardcore. ANybody clue me in as to what these clues are that I see being discussed on here? And oh by the way, for those interested, I talked to Steve (author of Treasure Hunters Guide) just this week, and I mentioned to him that he should attend the prehunt bash and bring some books with. He said he was going to try and make it. If he does, the books are $12.
For anyone who would like to attend the prehunt bash tonight but don't know where Patrick McGovern's is....
The address is 225 W. 7th St. They are in the second block west of the new Rivercentre (the old Civic Center and just across the street (Chestnut?) from Cosetta's.
I can't make it tonight, but I definetely hope to see some of you at the parks and the Re-Hash bash! I think a cooler crew member will find the medallion this year,
Thanks I hope to meet some of you then, but when the park is revealed and we are all there I will be the short one(I'm only 14) with the cloth diaper on my arm.
I will take you under my wing young timothy, for i was the young one last year and the year before, but now, at a mature 16, i feel it is time to pass on my knowledge to a chosen one. You, young timothy, are that chosen one
Its sure hard to guess right now without clues...but here's some ideas I've been noodling.
It has not been outside the city limits in many years. Could this be the year that it's found in greater Ramsey County and not the City of St. Paul?
Phalen keeps roaming around in my head.
But the idea of a smaller, more obscure park makes things interesting too. (I liked hunting when it was at Langford. We practically had the park to ourselves!)
Tonight's clue should answer the first noodling about city or county. After that....the sky's the limit.
I was in heaven when it was at Cherokee, cause its 4 blocks from my house. Oh well, what are ya gonna do. I just hope to God its not at Como again cause that park is just to damn big
I just bought the Treasure Hunters guide so it better be in St. Paul. Since this is only my 3rd year do either of you know of any other books that are helpful?
I have recently changed my mind, I know think it will be at Mounds Park. So look for something about being respectfull to park grounds in the first clue. Just a thought.
That book is a good resource. Other things to have handy are maps and previous clues. They can be helpful for noodling too.
Mostly though - the gray matter between one's ears is the best guide in my opinion. It's where the light goes off and creates that gut feeling when you're in the park and trying to figure out where to dig.
Terry, lovely visiting, hope to see you 2nite(i'll try to get down there) Young Timothy, lovely metting you, hope to see you pulling out that medallion this year. What am i saying, i hope i find it. Peace and love folks.
hey it took me long enough, but i am finally here. The other and probably better half. I also wish i was back in town for the big hunt. Unfortunately stuck in cheesehead land. Don't worry still not a Pack fan. Did anyone chime in yet on the Water Cooler uniform idea?
Y2G, glad to see that you made it. You being the best of the us two is yet to be seen, lets see who figures out the clues. Newayz, u gotta get that idea going for the white t-shirts that we are gunna wear. I suggested wearing a diaper on my head but we'll see. 7 more hours til the hunt offically begins. Everyone, if you could, please hold off til next week to find it so I can at least come down this coming weekend and at least say I gave it a try. :) Thanks
I expect to be at the tavern at about 8:30 or 9:00. As some of you may know, my second child was born during the 1997 hunt. Tonight he gets a birthday party. I wanted to name him "Hunter", but my wife said no. Save me a chair.
Will do, Steve! Man, Hunter would have been a GREAT name! In more ways than one!
"Tonite, Tonite...Won't be just any nite. "Tonite there will be no morning star. "Today, the minutes seem like hours, "The hours go so slowly, and still the sky is bright!
"Oh, Moon - give light! "And make this endless day "Endless night!"
From The Fantastics. Sung so bad the cats are howling! Guess I better not quit my day yob and take up a singing career! :)
Fixin' up here. Gettin' ready to hit McGovern's for The Second Annual Pre-Hunt Bash.
Ittiz like Christmas. I can't believe ittiz here again/already. Waited a year. And it will be over so quickly...

Duh, How could I not see that at the top. Thanks Terry. I know the rules, have been a hunter for roughly 6 years now. Talk to you all later.

Sorel inner liners and how to care for them
I found it. Looks like this is getting it from the horses mouth.
Now I'm really going to bed!
And good news about the books! I have a friend who wants me to pick one up for her.
Tonight's the night!

See you there!
T.V!!! Long time no speak!!
THE MEDALLION HUNT IS UPON US!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Golly it sure has been a long time since we were arguing over which park it was in.
With this being the year 2000 and such, i think that ittiz fitting to give myself the title i deserve::
THE OFFICIAL MEDALLION HUNTER OF THE NEW MILLENIUM
you may now shower me with the finest fruits and grains you have to offer
Bandit! Nice seeing you here! Are you gonna make it to the prehunt bash this evening?
I can't make it tonight, but I definetely hope to see some of you at the parks and the Re-Hash bash! I think a cooler crew member will find the medallion this year,
GOOD LUCK TO ALL!!!!
i don't know terry, how long do you guys think you'll be there till?
oooh italics
Tim - I agree. Our time has come. This will be the year!
Sorry you can't make it tonight, but mark the 6th of February on your calendar for the rehash bash!
Bandit - We'll be there till it closes I'm sure. That's 1am.
The italics happened because you began the line with a lower case "i". Cool, heh?
Thanks I hope to meet some of you then, but when the park is revealed and we are all there I will be the short one(I'm only 14) with the cloth diaper on my arm.
This is the cooler's year for sure
14 doesn't necessarily mean short! LOL!!!!
We'll be looking for you. Now...where the heck is it???
I will take you under my wing young timothy, for i was the young one last year and the year before, but now, at a mature 16, i feel it is time to pass on my knowledge to a chosen one. You, young timothy, are that chosen one
For me it does LOL!!!!! I am saying Battle Creak, because it hasn't been there in a while. But a lot of people still say Phalen, what do you think?
Wasnt it just in Battle Cre-ak 4 years ago or so?
How flattering LOL!!!!!!! I feel th bandit will find the medallion this year, for he shows superior knoledge!
I like that park though, ittiz a great place to hunt
thank you young timothy, thank you
I know it the best since I used to live very close, so I guess my prediction is wishful thinking.
