I believe I mentioned earlier tonight that I was born right smack dab in the middle of the United States involvement in WWII. Now do your homework.
hmm.. those guys at actionsquad.org have a nice map of the tunnels under saint paul. Tried to be smart and hide the street names and whatnot, but it wasn't too hard to figure out how it should look.
my grandfather was over there right after ww2 as well (in the corps of engineers). they'd give him a stripe just so they could take it away from him. he once returned to base 3 days later than expected, the trucks full of booze. turns out the small german towns were very grateful to him and his crew for plowing them out in the dead of winter.
Question for the crew. I seen the annual news story on holiday tipping but they didn't address one question I had. How/What do you tip a service person who's different every time?
I have different mail carriers (not that I would tip them anyway), different trash guys and different grocery guys. I just got Simons and the delivery guy was one I've had a couple of times but there's really no 'regular' guy anymore since they switched up the routes.
Faribault pastor and Medford woman die after colliding with semitrailer and railroad signal

OWATONNA -- A Faribault pastor and the passenger in the vehicle he was driving were killed Wednesday morning when their van struck the side of a semitrailer that had jackknifed on Highway 14 in rural Steele County. The Rev. Allan Ellison, 48, and Carolyn Jones, 69, of Medford were killed after their transport van struck the semi around 9:45 a.m. Wednesday at milepost 179 on Highway 14, according to the Minnesota State Patrol. The driver of the semitrailer, Lawrence Schroeder Jr., 55, of Neenah, Wis., was not injured. The semitrailer was westbound when it is believed that the driver lost control of the vehicle around a curve, causing the vehicle to jackknife near a railroad crossing, according to Lt. Mark Holm of the State Patrol's Rochester division. After hitting the side of the semitrailer, the eastbound van struck a railroad crossing signal, Holm said, crushing the rear of the vehicle. Road conditions at the time were reported as icy with blowing snow. Initial investigation suggests that the semitrailer was traveling too fast for the conditions, Holm said. Both victims wear wearing seat belts and the van's airbags were deployed upon impact. Alcohol was not believed to be a factor in the crash. The accident remains under investigation by the state patrol. The van was part of a fleet belonging to R & S Transport, Inc. of Rochester, which transports elderly and disabled people to medical appointments, said company owner Steve Elwood. Ellison, who served as a pastor at Berean Baptist Church in Faribault, had been employed as a driver for the company for about six months, he added. Ellison was transporting Jones from her residence in Medford on Wednesday to an appointment at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Elwood said. The transport picked up the patient an hour earlier than normal, he said, so that Ellison could get a jump on winter weather before conditions worsened. "We all liked him. He got along with everybody," Elwood said. "He was just a warm-hearted guy. We're just in shock." Kim Steiner, one of the pastor's four children, said the family was also in shock following the accident, particularly with the accident coming so close to the holidays. "Who would have known when he left for work this morning that it would be the last time that we would see him," she said. "We had all these plans for Christmas. You just don't know." What is up with all the car semi crashes down here? I never even heard of Owatonna before we started looking for a house down here now it seems like a crash every other day.
I've had the same paper lady for the past couple of years. She has my paper here by 5:00 every morning and puts it on my porch right in front of my door every day. I tip her with each billing, so don't give her a tip at Christmas time. Same with my trash guy who I love. He takes everything I throw out there for him. I include my tip to him with the billing closest to Christmas.
but my mail guy is the same guy...but he sucks....I won't and refuse to tip him...my mail is always lost for days...
My trash guy...nope....
My paper guy...yep...I tip him.
when I worked for Orkin...none of the guys got tipped...*hardly ever* ...which was really really wierd in my eyes...as they techs. go thru the entire house ever month....month in month out thru all parts of the house with nobody watching them. (heck closets everything..)
I asked a Triceritops who happened to be passing by.

(you could tip your stern controllers)
"We the sensible people of the United States, in an
attempt to help everyone get along, restore some
semblance of justice, avoid more riots, keep our
nation safe, promote positive behavior, and secure
the blessings of debt free liberty to ourselves and
 our great-great-great-grandchildren, hereby try one
more time to ordain and establish some common sense
guidelines for the terminally whiny, guilt ridden,
 delusional, and other liberal bed-wetters.
We hold these truths to be self evident: that a
 whole lot of people are
confused by the Bill of Rights and are so dim they
 require a Bill of
 NON-Rights."
ARTICLE I: You do not have the right to a new car,
big screen TV, or any other form of wealth. More
power to you if you can legally acquire them,
but no one is guaranteeing anything.
ARTICLE II: You do not have the right to never be
offended. This country is based on freedom, and that
means freedom for everyone -- not just you! You may
leave the room, turn the channel, express a
different opinion, etc.; but the world is full of
idiots, and probably always will be.
ARTICLE III: You do not have the right to be free
from harm. If you stick a screwdriver in your eye,
learn to be more careful, do not expect the tool
manufacturer to make you and all your relatives
 independently wealthy.
ARTICLE IV: You do not have the right to free food
and housing? Americans are the most charitable
people to be found and will gladly help anyone in
need, but we are quickly growing weary of
 subsidizing generation after generation of
professional couch potatoes who achieve nothing more
than the creation of an other generation of
 professional couch potatoes.
ARTICLE V: You do not have the right to free health
 care. That would be
nice, but from the looks of public housing, we're
 just not interested in
 public health care.
ARTICLE VI: You do not have the right to physically
harm other people. If you kidnap, rape,
intentionally maim, or kill someone, don't be
surprised if the rest of us want to see you fry in
 the electric chair.
ARTICLE VII: You do not have the right to the
possessions of others. If you rob, cheat, or coerce
away the goods or services of other citizens, don't
be surprised if the rest of us get together and lock
you away in a place where you still won't have the
right to a big screen color TV or a life of leisure.
ARTICLE VIII: You do not have the right to a job.
All of us sure want you to have a job, and will
gladly help you along in hard times, but we expect
you to take advantage of the opportunities of
education and vocational training laid before you to
 make yourself useful.
ARTICLE IX: You do not have the right to happiness.
Being an American means that you have the right to
PURSUE happiness which, by the way, is a lot easier
if you are unencumbered by an over abundance of
idiotic laws created by those of you who were
confused by the Bill of Rights.
ARTICLE X: This is an English speaking country. We
don't care where you are from, English is our first
language. One more vote the other way in the 1700's
& it would've been German!!! Learn ours or go back
 to wherever you came from!?
(lastly....)
ARTICLE XI: You do not have the right to change our
 country's history or
heritage or the names of our holiday seasons to be
politically correct. This country was founded on the
belief in one true God. And yet, you are given the
freedom to believe in any religion, any faith, or no
faith at all; with no fear of persecution. The
phrase IN GOD WE TRUST is part of our heritage and
history and if you are uncomfortable with it,
 TOUGH!!!!
If you agree, share this with a friend. No, you
 don't have to, and nothing
tragic will befall you if you don't. I just think
 it's about time common
sense is allowed to flourish. Sensible people of
 the United States speak
out because if you don't, insensible people will.
