None that I can name off the top of my head.
I think that was part of the discussion...... Like when Tim had his Suite night at the Xcel. he had a thread that he was given host access to. That let him make changes and delete things as he felt need be.
I couldn't really speak to comments in here earlier. I was between getting ready for work, getting to work and then for the most part working. No time to really give peoples answers the time they deserve.
To answer the quesion about how and why I became a moderator.
When we moved from PF to here I didn't even know I was a moderator till someone told me.
The general reason I was selected was my hours. I'm on the board at 3am more them most people other then CM and that would give me the chance to remove "questionable things".
To that I mean like porn in the shoot the breeze thread etc. Thread Nanny persay.
then you just keep playing until someone wins twice....
you learn real fast, with this long-tested method...that you gotta call "Shotgun!" long before anyone else...to avoid the Paper, Rock, Scissors challenge...
why am I allowed to read this thread, about rules/code of conduct, etc, and allowed to post my input/thoughts on the process, and yet, am still at this second locked out of everything else?
ok, im only awake for a second. But Im a little confused. How is it possible for the code of conduct to only apply to 2 folders. And the instant message feature? wouldnt the instant message feature be a seperate thing as well? That is a private thing, and there is now an ignore feature. How can there be conduct involved with that but not the cooler chick folders? Just seems that it doesnt make sense. As the ban on nick, he never did anything in the hunt or shoot the breeze folder? This is a half awake post so if it doesnt make sense please ignore!
The problem I noticed is that people arent always okay with that method.
One example would be the issue the other day with me2's avatar. Some of us simply asked to be informed when your avatar changed, because we could not have them on at work. I was not offended with the avatar as it takes a lot to offend me. Kitch as a representative of the mods told you the concern of some of us (me included), some posted openly and some did it the exact way that we are told we can do it. In a private message.
When this was done it became clear that ME2 was not happy how it was handled.
If this is the way we as a group want issues to be handled, shouldnt everyone decide that? Only because obviously Me2 would rather have not gone through these channels.....and would rather had been dealt with directly.
No offense to me2 but that can be her request but people don't need to abide by it if they don't feel comfortable with it.
Those people can notify a mod and they can notify that person while keeping the anonymity of the person offended. The mods could talk about the decision made when they stop in.
I was just reading over the rules. Just a suggestion for the Mods.
Typically when rules are to be implimented in "realms" such as these, hey are proposed for the group they will govern, and are reviewed, altered based on suggestions by the people and then voted upon item by item, by a Quorum of the people.
Mods tend to be more like reps of the constituents, not so much the rulemakers themselves. Moderators arbitrate or mediate, but by no mean lead. They are the voices for the majority, yet at the same time not the leaders.
To be fair - typically Moderator's don't have a vote, they just bring the votes of the people together, and tally.
The only reason why mod voting came up is because there was much speculation of setting voting timelines within the crew itself.

That's exactly what we are. I just hope others can realize that now and not think us/them. We are all of you. As mentioned earlier, everything in here is up for discussion. Including the voting process. That's why this discussion is here rather than just a view only thread.
We all agreed to be mods because we thought we would be more as Thread Nannys as OTS said earlier. It turned into something none of us wanted it to be.
Just a suggestion... A way to simplify the timeliness rather than have Mod's vote, CM is to assign each mod with a list of their 'people' like a shepard to their sheep. To have a Quorum to vote (is 3/4 of the entire population of the group.)
However to make sure things are run timely -you must set a time deadline and all people who chose not to give their opinion, essentially wave their right to complain post-facto.
If people are given one person to contact, a specific place to go to to get their information, a deadline they must cast thier decision by, and someone who will ensure that their vote is not only anon, but also counted without them having to be present - you will be surprised by the number who will turn out to vote in a timely manner.
Yes, I am a dork. I just spent most of last year, revising the Bylaws and Constitution of our non-profit and outlining the voting guidelines. I understand the stress in trying to come up with rules that everyone can live with. good luck!
With input like yours I'm sure this will be easier for all involved and less nerve racking. The more people participate the easier and clearer things will be.

Ask me anything you like.
The rules do not apply to Ians folder.
You sure couldn't tell by your avatar.

I was asked and I accepted.
There is no glory to dealing with any of this.
Its how we always solve the "who gets to ride shotgun" problem.

It'd be nice if we got along better and had more fun.

since im kinda stupid, and need explaining sometimes..
does this mean, I'm not supposed to be reading this thread..
technically speaking...
okay... I thought I was gonna hafta go back and delete some posts, and make it look like I wasnt here...
that would have taken forever... my computer takes after me..
Its rather slow.
that makes logical sense.
so obviously the alleged harrasment must have taken place in a part of the site the mods have control over... oops, logic breakdown.
Obviously extreme cases would need to be addressed.
As to the alledged harrasment issue, I believe CM posted earlier that we were still dealing with the banning of Nick.
must be my time to go back to sleep....hahah :goofy:
mark. as. read.

Does that make sense?
No hard feelings me2. Just making an example.
