It was so fun to meet so many new people last night! We sat at this one table right inside the door - and when it got to be Soooo crowded, there was no way I was moving! Dad walked around some, but I think I stayed right there most of the night.
It got to be so loud in there - I dunno, I guess it's the age thing creeping up on me - I just couldn't stand it much longer. It was near impossible to hear anything.
Wow. Another wonderful get together. And I didn't cry last nite, Mom! (giggle) I, too, had a fantastic time. First thing I did when I got up was check my Mappy Gooey book to see if I really did get Boxmeyer's autograph.
I did.
I still can't believe I've met and touched that guy, let alone carried on a coversation with him. What a nice, neat guy. Meeting him was just wonderful. Thanks to Me2 for telling me he was there!
It always amazes me, these Gigs and Bashes. Just amazes me. I so enjoy watching all the folks; seeing folks I've known for years and meeting new people.
But the noise was horrible. Could hardly talk.
Still, I'd not give up last nite for the world. Thanks to all who attended and made my nite a wonderful time.
Yes, I did talk to Mr. Boxmeyer. I told him what an honor it was that he would join us and that I thoroughly enjoyed reading his columns over the years. He told me this March it would be 40 years since he started at the PP.
And he scolded me for making Brenda put the earmuffs back.
Gosh... Lettuce see... Scribe, Lela, two tables full o'folks, me, Red Ram.
Got to talkin' with some 'kids' there, and I'll be damned, they like the Beatles. Humbled me. I mean, here are these really, really, really, kind'a fairly young people - who prolly weren't even born when that one Beatle was killed - and they like their music! Ittiz no secret I don't like the Beatles and I really thought it was Cooler that these young folks had this open minded appreciation of music like that. Was way Cooler.
Glad ol'Don let you have about the 'Muffs. Wonder if he was writing that year.
Oh! I invited him to the Re-Hash Bash, iffin' he wanted to come or anything.
Wonder what he thought about/felt, being in the midsts of all us 'Heads, the very folks he'd confounded for so long. Kind'a neat to be in his shoes, seeing things from both sides. You know what I mean?
Hay, Ter! Searchin' gave me her GREEN flashlitey glasses last nite! Wasn't that nice? I'd seen them on her and was like ssssssssooooo envious! Isn't that Cooler!
Whoa! Don's in the know! Lucky devil! Maybe snot so lucky... Hard place to be. I overheard him tell someone that he had to be careful rubbing elbows with us [paraphrased] that he "didn't give away any secrets."
I just can't believe that he cared enuff to come and be apart of the Hunt with us. I mean, like he can be a part of the Hunt and enjoy it and *not* be a part of us. That is just so super and wonderful he was there.
He told me that he felt like was was among friends. Can you believe that? He felt he was among friends! And I think we're the lucky ones, that he was honouring us by coming. He did us the favor, not the other way around!
I just can't believe I met him. I just can't believe it.
I was too shy to say hello to the man, myself. But it was Soooo cool that he came!
Funny -- Green comes dashing over to our table with her newly purchased THG. I peek in the first couple pages, see that it has a CD with it, and say "Weren't you going to have Mr. Boxmeyer sign it for you?"
Oh my God! Even for Green, I don't think I'd ever seen her move so fast and furious!
KT - I'm so very happy that your Joel's surgery was successful and his legs are moving.
When Inks broke his back, they had him laying flat for so long and then put him in a body cast for awhile and then surgery finally to do some fusing, it was a whole year before he was better.
Of course, that was many years ago now. The science of medicine sure has improved.
Yeah. He was leavin', and I'd chased to hell and back iffin' I'da had'ta. I was lucky and caught him before he left the building.
Thanks, Mom, for thinking o'that.
Can I tell you? I'm tellin' Bill about last nite and all and mentioned I got a new Mappy Gooey book and Don had signed it (though all that means squat to Bill...) and Bill says, "Your last year's is up in the closet." That guy's my frontal lobe, I tell ya.
Oh, well. Ittiz tradition for me to get a book each year. Gotta keep Mappy's sales volume up. Besides, every year he writes the same thing in it, "Green, you're hot."
Hay, KT! So good to see you! Missed you last nite, but quite understandable why you couldn't make it. Glad to hear the Jr. member's doing well. Give him my best.
I'm going to logout and get somethings done around here. This is the last day of semi-sanity for the next couple of weeks. I'm going to take advantage of that.
I was thinkin' the paper would make a mistake...
I saw the paper at wal-mart and thought it...heh..can't believe it happen'd
Oh yeah nursing their hangovers!! :worried: :lipsealed:

Ter, tell Inks, yes, I know where my car is...
I think!
No, yes, I know where ittiz. Ittiz parked in the back.
It was a late nite, though. A bunch o'us went to Mickey's. That was neat, too! Had steak and eggs. Yummy.
Ter, did you talk to Boxmeyer? If not, your loss. Should'a. Great guy.
And he scolded me for making Brenda put the earmuffs back.
So who all went to Mickey's? That would have been fun.

He also said he got a call mid week that the deed aka planting of the medallion was a done deed.
So I asked if that's when it was planted, and he said he didn't know - but that he knew it was now done.

Ittiz simple, small, and fits me.

So I gotta pay a guy $15/year to tell me I'm hot.
Could be worser.
my butt is a sacred space....
Its like mounds park.... just stay off of it.
okay...
that just sounds wrong.

I'll bet they were pretty cool, though...
my sister found one of those Department 56 house things, that's a replica of Mickey's Diner...
you can even plug it in, and it lights up... has all the stools, and booths, and even little food looking things on shelves....
oh otis like the tables in the basement?
OTiS had to wait in that line
