2006 Pioneer Press Treasure Hunt

I think we'll have to research this....

But if Battle Creek is a regional park, who has jurisdiction? If it's the city or county for the whole thing, the part in Maplewood would be fair game.

If, in fact, Maplewood is responsible for the part that is in Maplewood, that is a letter of a different color.

I can not beleive it. The PP steared us yet again towards an other park. It just seamed that it was clue after clue after clue pointing to highland, and its odd in worm weather that they will stear us to a park too quick. Think that made me nervous even more was usually they tell is its a St Paul park when its in St Paul.

All the Street Signs in Maplewood has a Red Leaf on them.

Well, the hardly tree phobic part of this clue leads me to believe that the park and rec type places can probably be thrown out. No small park and rec's have any large concentrations of trees/wooded areas.

its part of the county parks system, so i assume the county holds jurisdiction. just as st. paul does with the part of phalen north of larpenteur.

Small, probably too small.

There's also Valentine "hills" Elementary School.

The Rec center at BC is part of the St. Paul Parks and Rec.

And for those in the Highland bandwagon...I think someone (Ares?) mentioned....Highland's school colors are red and white.

I've got to head out pretty quick here....so's I'm not sleeping at my desk tomorrow!

Then it's fair game.

Remember - we haven't been told it's in St. Paul

Artemis - I sure hope we hook up somewhere this weekend. Inks and the son will be out and about somewhere by Friday - neither are working that day.

I will be out by the weekend.

The Map Guy book states the puck wouldn't be hidden within the BC Ski Trails. Good point, look for another spot in BC?

The Ramsey County Fair is in Maplewood. Remember Hometown fair was a word used in the clues. Could be trying to suggest if it is BC that it lays in the Maplewood side rather then the St Paul side.

There are so many acres of woods in Battle Creek it could take a year without a more precise location
Wed, 01/25/2006 - 9:48 PM Permalink
Terry

Monkey - that may be the point. They knew what the forecast has been.

Tom - the word was fare - not fair. Though anything is possible. They've taken license with spelling previously.

not very big... though it does have an ice rink and playground as well as a ball field. grew up on that park... not big at all

Oh, not another hunt where you have to hike a lot! Hubby is recovering from a blod clot, so he can't walk a lot. And I have tendonitis, so I can't dig much or carry shovels very far. Ugh!

If you include all the woods along the paths it is.

i'd think that if it wasn't called out in the rules it'd be fair game, qm.

and with that i'm off to bed. last work day for be before some huntin' time off.

Tom - That's what I meant. If one word makes you think another, that's not above that crazy clue writer to use it...for or against us.

The Scarlet Letter itself is "A". Not that it helps... and the closest park to Hawthorne is Beaver Lake which is actually a county park.

I'll place my bet that the med. will be found in the big, dense, wooded area of Battle Creek between Upper & Lower Afton road (North - South borders)and McKnight & Century (West - East Borders). Also an off-lease dog park. You can see the 3M research labs from the north parking lot, which is directly across the street from the water park. There is a second parking lot on the south end on lower afton.

This is a huge area of woods, biking/walking trails. HUGE! You have to park and walk in.

Geocaches: Doggie Delight and Birdsong to name two.

You know the scarlet letter is an A, red, as mentioned before. COuld there be a sign with a red A with in view?

I felt b.c. before the hunt started, but clues tell me highland. keeping an open mind tho.
