I do wish someone could straighten out this problem once and for all.

I think ittiz been done, Wolfie. And you're sharing in the straightening!

We're Hunting in BC, in Maplewood!

If it isn't in BC than all this is a moot point. The Maplewood situation needs to be claifed, one way or the other, so we don't keep running into this problem. Don't have the writer of the clues keep tempting us to look in Maplewood. Have in the rules all the time saying don't look there.

To add to the confusion, In his article in the Winter Carnival special section on Sunday, Don Boxmeyer wrote, "The Pioneer Press treasure also has been kicked out of two towns-West St. Paul and Maplewood-both of which were monumentally mortified when treasure hunters invaded their borders."

I know, bud. That's why I said it's imporant who the letters came from.

Boxmeyer does not give details and failed to mention the park in question was a city park, owned and operated by the city of Maplewood.

BC is not city owned or operated. It's owned and operated by Ramsey County, who has the final word on what does or does not happen within its boundaries.

my point is if the city of maplewood says if you put the medallion in our city we will take legal action against you, it doesn't matter who maintains the park as long as the park is in the city of maplewood it won't be there. I tend to think it was maplewood's park board that sent the letters to the PP, so I am leaning towards BC being fair game, but I still think it's iffy.

personally I think the clues fit the st paul side better anyways, so it doesn't affect what I'm planning on doing.

I agree with that. If the city has asked the carnival to not put the treasure in their fair city, I can't see the carnival people finding a loop hole so they could do it anyway.

But the question still is, are they or are they not allowed to put it there?

I don't know if I like the ambiguity (sp?) of it or not. I think it's kind of fun that there is a question mark on the entire city. It's officially not against the rules to put it there so we can't rule it out, but I tend to think they would want to avoid any potential headaches.

I saw that the Twixt game was Published by 3m (http://www.boardgamegeek.com/game/949) which would lead to BC, but the designer of the game is Alex Randolph, which could easily lead you back to Highland. :frown:

I don't like it that the clues can still be made to fit both HP and BC- for such a big park we should have a more difinitive idea of which.

Do you guys remember the mock hunt that was at BC a few years back?

who hid that?

who found that?

wasnt it accross from Battle Creek Middle School? (I went there, grades 7-8, yay!)....

If we're tossing around the "twixt" deal, as meaning between, then could that essentially mean the middle school.... or more importantly, the small stretch of park area/stream/whatever accross from it?

probably taking too much.... thinking too much...

The Wicked One needs sleep....

After all the years of rumors and coaching that it would *never* be in Maplewood, I'm going to have a very hard time crossing that line. The swimming reference makes me want to be sure and explore all other options, but I don't think it discounts BC just because the waterpark is on the Maplewood side. Just a point of reference, nothing more.

Hope the wind dies down by the time we get out at lunch time!

I think Highland could still be a strong contender.

For all the same reasons as BC with the exception of the 3m sign.

These are fun riddles! If 'twixt' does indeed mean 'between upper and lower afton' That's a lot of park and a lot of woods. Tons. Oodles. Crud.

Mikey, things have been hashed and re-hashed here all night and ideas have been mentioned more than once.

I'm fairly sure in that particular post o'Monkey's he was answering a direct question I'd asked him. We were having a conversation; I was picking his mind.

This is my answer to the question regarding Maplewood's issues and Battle Creek Park on the east side of McKnight....

The two times that Maplewood was unhappy about the medallion hidden there, it was hidden in a park under the jurisdiction of the City of Maplewood.

Battle Creek is a regional park under the jurisdiction of Ramsey County - you can double check that - it's available online.

And remember this: It's as important to noodle what the clues don't say as what they say.

morning all. my thoughts on maplewood. I remember reading 1-2 yrs ago the city administrator/mayor of maplewood publically said it would be great if the medallion was hidden in maplewood and there is no band, this was in responce to a question about this issue. this was posted on our boards befor and someone could confirm that if they want to noodle that, and put the issue to rest.

remember politicians have short memories and don't remember the damage, they just know that they hear from us how much mp sucks cause they banned the hunt.

If you are afraid to hunt in mapleWOOD you are being tree phobic.
