if the decision isn't final I think we should consider the maplewood pavilian at BC, the rec center side doesn't have any benches/chairs or anything, unless someone called and its going to be in the rec center I guess.

Tim - I'm on my way out for the afternoon.

Could you call and check to see if the rec center is open tomorrow and if we could use the facilities?

I don't know if a final decision has been made and I'm open to either one.

But I'm scooting now to finish all that needs doing today.

If you can't, please post here and maybe someone could?

Thanks bunches and bunches!

And check about electricity at either place too! I'm sure there will be something that needs to be plugged in - there always is.

I'm outta here.

I still don't understand when you register a winter carnival button, it says on the 5th page inside you must be 18 or older to win a prize.

The father that was with probably had a registered button.

Anyone know when North Saint Paul is having their hunt, and how to get involved?

Before this all fades away into oblivion, I want to make a comment about something missing from prior hunts:

the "rivalry"

Sometimes good-natured, sometimes nasty

I saw Jake and Eric several times over the past week, and all discussions were about "the hunt"

Did any of you get involved this summer in the hunt for the pioneer press flag? Do you think that was a one shot thing welcoming the wild back to town? or do you think they will do something like that again this year?

We will be there.

Hey for the RHB could we use one of those "portable" fire pit type things? Does anyone have one? I'll bring some wood if we can get one of those....I have a chimenera that weighs about a gazzillion tons so it is not portable...but one of those iron ones might work?

love the DMB avatar - did you see them when they were here in concert last? Did you see them anywhere else this past year? I wanted to go on their cruise coming up too....oh well another dream.............

A lot of the crew were involved and Tim The Hunter (cooler crew member) actually found it. Not sure if its a 1 time thing or not.

heres some links about the North Saint Paul stuff...

http://www.ci.north-saint-paul.mn.us/

http://www.nstpaulevents.com

Most of the info is all from that nstpaulevents.com site, as you can see... after you go there, click on "snow frolics"

Its supposed to start Feb 6th, with clues being posted each day by 8:00 A.M.

the prize is $250 "medallion dollars" good for participating businesses in North Saint Paul...it gets bumped up to $500 if you've got one of their snow frolics buttons.....
Sat, 01/28/2006 - 2:06 PM Permalink
Terry

I'm happy for them too. Young guys who have not only caught medallion fever, did it right with eveything needed to get the full award, but they nabbed the prize to boot.

What could be better than having a day off from school, great weather, and a Dad to chauffeur you around to parks - and then to find the thing? I still wish it had been a cooler crew person, but there's always next year, right?

Supin' good? I doubt.

Whatever. Much xcercise and GREAT vodka's with 'mato juice, and chasers with (drooling) celery salt on the rim.

I'm sleepin'.

Ter, I would, if I could, like to have a ride tonite.

I'm outtie. Call My Frontal Lobe. He'll handle it.

I managed to get a sort of an italian pasta salad put together. Wish I had time for a nap, Dad should be here between 5:00 and 5:30, and then he'll change and we'll be on our way to Prior Lake.

I really don't feel like a Xmas party at the end of January right after the med's been found :frown:.

yes... always next year...

and always the bazillion minor league hunts that go on, in the summer time too

So I am just slogging now - did anyone manage to call BC? Are we in the parking lot with no tables, inside, or in Maplewood?
Sat, 01/28/2006 - 2:26 PM Permalink
Terry

She would be there - I think...or I'd drag her rear there one way or another. She just threatened not be bring her deviled eggs...and that would be a loss.

I haven't had time to call...nor do I now. A couple things have come up here I need to take care of.

I don't care where we are as long as we have a place to be.

And green one - we can do the ride thing. Call when you wake up.

I just called the rec center and they are closed on Sundays. So, I would think we should at least go to the Ramsey county side where there are picnic tables (I don't even know where that is, but I'll find a map).

So, it looks like the Ramsey County reservation thingy is only open weekdays. Picnic areas are only officially open in season and we are supposed to have a permit to use them. My guess is that it won't matter in January. We should probably just show up and use it but I am guessing there won't be electricity.

So it is going to be at the BC rec center at 11:30? Any suggestions on what to bring? I brought the "WIngs of the Dove" last year and they were a big hit. I could do those again or maybe something different. Just let me know.

Rec center is closed on Sundays. Slog back a few posts. We are talking about moving it to the picnic area in the Maplewood side.

Toing and froing....

Lee - are you talking about the pavillion area across McKnight? I think they have electric available there...and there was a port-a-john when we were over there the other night.
Sat, 01/28/2006 - 2:36 PM Permalink
leelabell

Terry, I honestly don't know. I have never been there. I'm just posting that the rec center is closed on Sunday and there are no tables, etc. so it makes sense to move it to a place where they are located.

leelabell

I guess this is where I am talking about-

A large group picnic pavilion is located off Upper Afton Road near McKnight Road. The site includes a children's play area, a large, open, informal game field and walking paths. Evening concerts are provided throughout the summer season.

We won't have a permit because the office is closed, but it probably makes better sense than the parking lot by the rec center.

Yes - Yes - this is where we should have it....and (if I recall correctly) there is a place for a fire there!!!!

The "zone" at upper afton and McKnight - where the water park is...that big tent like pavillion

sorry I just got the info that I was supposed to call and I guess leelabell did it, thanks leelabell!

sounds like electric is out no matter where we go so plan accordingly. so it's either maplewood at the big pavilian with a ton of picnic tables or the parking lot of the rec center in st paul with deviled eggs.

I'm voting maplewood
