From Mounds and Earl...NE Corner Section...Ample Pavillion and Standing Grills...Playground Equipment (later clue?)
Turn to face Downtown (Boreas' direction) which you can't actually see,...depending on where you stand you do see the airport beacon tower ( a tower) or moving slightly you also see the NSP Stack (or two). Tennis courts are on the hill between you and downtown (though I'm not sold on the tennis concept just yet)...and a running path, biking path goes along the bluff right there!
Here's my ideas on the clues without naming parks... I think thats what kills people is getting a park in mind and MAKING all the clues fit it... FIRST figure out the clues and then find the park that fits... It's been said before but I had to say it again...
#1 Obviously just a St. Paul park and STAY OFF the golf courses... (although Vikings depression could = Swede Hollow) Oops there I go naming parks already...
#2 Set your own pace... could make you an ace (winner)... into the chase... My feeling is either a Marathon (the St. Paul Marathon) or walking/jogging paths (although those aren't races) if Marathon then we need to figure out the Start/Finish of it and possibly the entire route
#3 I dont think 'tower or two' means TWO TOWERS... i think it means ONE tower and the number TWO, all in view to the North of the park/ hiding spot/ area (North from the King Boreas reference. or towards St. Paul if it's referring to that) i think they split 'tower or two' with "or" because they are far enough apart to not be grouped but also both can narrow the searching field...
#4 I feel like there's something hidden in this one, clueless to it as of now... SWRA came up (South West Regional Area)... other than that I see what everyone else does... Grilling facilities and Picnic SHELTERS
Just one Cats take on these... tear em up or build em up... just do it so it helps everyone else out... Digging sucks... especially 10 miles from the right park...
Steppdogg-I think that could be very valid. At this point, its always good to have a few working ideas so that once the later clues come out, you can narrow it down. As for me though, my gut still says Highland.
It seems as if there are three parks consistently being mentioned over and over - Highland, Phalen and Mounds. Do most people think one of these is the answer? Or, are people still up in the air? I am still really up in the air.
Clue 2: THINGS IN THE PARK-- Running Paths....Tennis Courts (Maybe)
Clue 3: WHAT YOU CAN SEE FROM THE G-SPOT AND WHICH DIRECTION TO FACE--My opinion is face downtown. Boreas realm/HQ is St. Paul...and he will be dethroned in Rice Park. See a tower or two
Clue 4: WHAT IS IN THE GENERAL VICINITY OF THE G-SPOT-- Picnic shelters and outdoor grills.
Pie maybe if you hop a greyhound from Coloradhole you can get here in time for the dethroning, you'll be too late to find the prize however. Its too bad if you found the prize maybe then you could pay up Mr. Welch Village.
Shoveler--forget fighting w/ pie and talk to me about the hunt, huh?
Sorry its too easy to shovel through Pie's droppings after a hard day of crime fighting and snow shoveling!
I think there is something to be said for Mounds, but the whole indian reserve thingy has got me worried, I thought I read a couple of years back that they refused to allow the medallion to be hid there anymore.
Clue 2. set your own pace, etc. and Clue 3. look in king boreas' direction : both clues refer to King Boreas ski event at phalen park
Clue 4. 'will serve to help you as you're looking' : there is a serving counter at phalen's picnic pavilion. also, 'gain relief from the rain' and 'really get you cooking' refer to the pavilion.
I am really reading the clues differently than everyone else, but that is half the fun. The Master & I will be taking a spin around tonite scouting things out.
of an ice castle???

I repeat it is not at MOUNDS PARK!!!
Oh ya, another triple DUECE BRONCO GOLD DIGGIN BRONCO JANE here!
I was really hopeing to squeeze in a round while looking for that thing...Are you sure its not on a golf course? hahaha
vikesfan -- go back to post 2203 and tell me what you think of my idea....
PIE...why are you SOOOOOO SUUUURRRRRREEEEE!
PIE - Palace doesn't have picnic areas or Pavillions
Palace also doesn't have a statue of anything
Who said PALACE...I missed that?
PIE just asked about Palace
Leah--the statue idea is just a thought and probably far off...i was just thinking...

Because, even though I don't live in Minnsesota I have these VIBES!!
I am a real Psychic!
Stepdog---
Pace...Joggers set a pace to help them go the distance...
Ace...Tennis maybe...rhymes with Pace...a smart detective is an ace...(as in Ace Ventura)
Chase...we are all chasing the gold
How is that for a simple yet rustic explanation?
Steppdogg-I think that could be very valid. At this point, its always good to have a few working ideas so that once the later clues come out, you can narrow it down. As for me though, my gut still says Highland.

MacGrove--
Sounds good to me, however I think "Ace" doesn't mean tennis, rather a detective "Ace" like you said.
Right now I'm with you Vikesfan
Does anyone know if there is a statue at Linwood?
You were close piehole, but you are a really more a sicko or psycho- now pay Bud his money Mr. Welch Village Pie.
I've said this before, but hear me out again--
The clue says "a tower or two SHOULD come into view."
The word should tells me that towers aren't necessary to pinpoint the park or medallion...
The PP would have said "A tower or two WILL come into view" if it was necessary to look for towers....careful with the wording!
Leah-Have any idea where in Highland the medallion is? The clues seem to lead to locations which are all over Higland park.
Leah- I am looking at the treasure hunters guide and I don't see one
No but I'm going to go up there tonight and just look around
SHOVELER:
Take your weak lttle shovel and stick it up year weak little ass!

Sorry -- i meant the towers AREN'T necessary...whoops
My view overall...
Clue 1: AREA -- In St Paul Not on a golf course
Clue 2: THINGS IN THE PARK-- Running Paths....Tennis Courts (Maybe)
Clue 3: WHAT YOU CAN SEE FROM THE G-SPOT AND WHICH DIRECTION TO FACE--My opinion is face downtown. Boreas realm/HQ is St. Paul...and he will be dethroned in Rice Park. See a tower or two
Clue 4: WHAT IS IN THE GENERAL VICINITY OF THE G-SPOT-- Picnic shelters and outdoor grills.
I gotta run guys. Good luck hunting!
MacGrove--
Your ideas are really good and make sense....you have convinced me to consider Mounds...
Pie maybe if you hop a greyhound from Coloradhole you can get here in time for the dethroning, you'll be too late to find the prize however. Its too bad if you found the prize maybe then you could pay up Mr. Welch Village.
Now will somebdy please give a strong argument for any other location.

How would I get to Mounds from the Midway area?
Shoveler--forget fighting w/ pie and talk to me about the hunt, huh?
Shoveler of BS:
Get a life, because you certainly don't have a CLUE!!
That's what I thought Shoveler
I think it's Phalen:
Clue 2. set your own pace, etc. and Clue 3. look in king boreas' direction : both clues refer to King Boreas ski event at phalen park
Clue 4. 'will serve to help you as you're looking' : there is a serving counter at phalen's picnic pavilion. also, 'gain relief from the rain' and 'really get you cooking' refer to the pavilion.
Just my thoughts!
Shoveler-- I think Phalen so far. I am reading the clues differently than everyone else, but i may be right!
Cabingirl--i like your thoughts...when does this ski event take place??
I am really reading the clues differently than everyone else, but that is half the fun. The Master & I will be taking a spin around tonite scouting things out.
Shoveler--
where is your gut feeling so far...mounds, highland????
It will never again be hidden in MOUNDS PARK!
IT'S NOT THERE!
Eliminate it from your list of possibilities!!!
I still don't see how this points to mound. With what weve gotten so far, you could make all clues fit into just about any park.
Ive also been thinking of clue #2 more as a what the medallion is in clu
StepDogg - it occurred on the 23rd according to the pre-carnival activities listed on the winter carnival web site.
I like both but I have other gut feelings as well (must have been that pizza I had for lunch). I'm gonna keep looking towards Boreas' home.
Shoveler,
You didn't really memorize those 'telescope settings', did you?
There's a national masters ski meet at BATTLE CREEK EAST FEB 3-6!
East of McKnight!
South of 3M
Does anybody want to form a caravan tonight and do a drive-by / walk through of key areas. Great way to meet and share visuals!
What would be a goot time and place to start from???
