Man I hate the suburbs. Millions of cookie cutter houses about one car length apart! I literally had to cut through someone's yard to get tp riverdale today. I plan on going to Wintercrest tomorrow.

It seemed far from the general store . . . a jiggity jig,

paper or plastic, will I have to dig?

Or stuck on the ground with a one foot twig,

and it seemed far from the door . . . a jiggity jig.

DITTO!

my head was litterally spinning because of all the turning around cause the parks are hard to find and hard to get into!!! )$#&@^)$^&*@+$^* ...oh and Jake and I saw a couple doing IT in their truck at the Lions Coon Creek- jake told them he approved! GAWD!

I went to Wintercrest yesterday -all it has is that sledding hill - didnt make it to Riverdale

Bunker Hill Regional fit the absolute best but its not CITY land!!!! and techniqually you have to have a park sticker to be on the land ---grrrrrr -maybe its hidden right at the entrance

I'll add it to my list of citys to map out. Can't say it'll be done for this year's hunt, but probably next year's.

If you have to be in Iowa, you definitely want to be on the eastern side..Mississippi River Valley. It's really quite nice

"Don't fire until you see the whites of their eyes!" This legendary order has come to symbolize the conviction and determination of the ill-equipped American colonists facing powerful British forces during the famous battle fought on this site on June 17, 1775. The battle is popularly known as "The Battle of Bunker Hill"

famous Red River Ox Cart Trail. The trail closely followed the present East River Road/Coon Rapids Boulevard alignment.

Originally the Red River Ox Cart trail, later to be the U.S. Military Road and still later the East River Road was a pioneer trail for early travelers. It still may be called "Main St." of Coon Rapids.

I think "Main St" is 242!

KC? didnt you make a map of the ox cart trail?
Tue, 02/14/2006 - 1:02 PM Permalink
KC0GRN

umm.. no.. I haven't made any maps of coon rapids. Interesting history though.

nah.. closest I remember to a trail was discussing the old yellowstone trail (well highway, predates the interstate system, linking boston to seattle).

I haven't really been following this, and haven't seen all the clues together, but what's the snowflake/old timer deal? seems like an effed-up story to me.

Clue #1 for Friday, February 3rd:

The Old Timer was in a Daze. He had become hypnotized while looking

for the prize Medallion, through the SNOWFLAKES, as they were falling.

“That’s it”, he said, “THE HUNT IS ON!!”

Public land, Coon Rapids, prize winner must have a 2006 Snowflake Days Button,

and good searching skills to be able to locate the 2006 Snowflake Days Medallion.

Do not change the right things, just those that are wrong.

Snowflakes trip to work was difficult as well as long.

Clue #2 for Saturday, February 4th:

It must have been a bright, White City, day,

when OLD TIMER PETE lost his weigh?

Sometimes Pete rested along the way.

He thought of a park for kids . . . someday?

Clue #3 for Sunday, February 5th:

Some folks knew Pete as OLD SNOWFLAKE!

because he loved this time of year.

Old Timer would pack a sled

with lunch, dry socks, and all his gear.

Clue #4 for Monday, February 6th:

Yes, some corrections must be made.

Was his prize lost in the shade?

It is tough to say on a snowy day

when so much white gets in the way.

Clue #5 for Tuesday, February 7th:

Hunt high, hunt low,

but cause no damage where you go.

No, damage nothing in your search today,

Look where people have come to play

Clue #6 for Wednesday, February 8th:

The place is froze over

study clues with care.

You can win treasure

that is hidden somewhere.

Clue #7 for Thursday, February 9th:

DonÂ’t be in a hurry,

get over the hertells.

No need to worry,

just move like turtles.

Clue #8 for Friday, February 10th:

Down the street to the corner,

Trees, signs, passing carriages, and foot prints,

But should I go leaved or write?

They distract from clues that make cents.

Clue #9 for Saturday, February 11th:

Be it hay or straw, be it bedding or feed

you must figure out what the cart pushers need.

Snowflake knew if the trail should be straight not narrow

the distance is measured by the flight of an arrow.

Clue #10 for Sunday, February 12th:

Old Pete in those Daze, the clues seem to fail

The Old Timer, some how must have took the wrong trail.

The trees, the sand, the chain, the rail

An empty bucket, a barrel, a Â…pale or Â…dale.

Clue #11 for Monday, February 13th:

We start at the backdoor sometime in July

and end past the front gate, now give it a try.

Shuffle out warmer now what do you think

the Old Timer went past a hard water drink.

Clue #12 for Tuesday, February 14th:

It seemed far from the general store . . . a jiggity jig,

paper or plastic, will I have to dig?

Or stuck on the ground with a one foot twig,

and it seemed far from the door . . . a jiggity jig.

Clue #13 for Wednesday, February 15th:

Some shadows be long,

some shadows be short.

Snowflake thought long.

No! The four oÂ’clock sort.
