i,ve narrowed my list of possibilitys down to eight. Cherokee,Como,Crosby farm,Hidden falls,Highland,Mounds,Newell,or Phalen. I think the next clue (or 2) should pinpoint one.
Possibly right Green. This is my second year on noodle board, and I have to say that the collective strength of everyone is amazing. When I dig, people seem to exchange handles instead of names. However, I have to knock some parks off (for scouting purposes), and I like eliminating a lot of them for lack of water. It is easy, and efficient. I could see that "doesn't say water" has reached the level of "they will never have it in (choose one maplewood or mounds park) every since that fiasco in ____ (insert year), as well as "it can't be in a park with a golf course, cuz they said stay off golf course"--I will not mention it again, for fear of adding to the cliches!
I guess, in annuder way, don't - like with a park early in the beginning - ASSUME anything on what izz NOT said.
Go strictly with what izz said. Like, whatchew see izz whatchew get. Any given park can have a BILLION clues. Yust because there may be water in/near/around it does *not* mean the Clue Writer *has* to state such.
I have to giggle a little. I don't make it on for a night, and now everyone is raving about Newell! This is my fourth year of egging people on to that park and the last two have had a remarkable response!
How about that cookout circle and shelter on the north side of the park; exactly where you have the best chance of looking due north and catching a glimpse of the space needle and water tower at the fairgrounds? Rock on!
Actually, I doubt it is there, but it cracks me up that others think so!
The feeling is mutual. I hope the hunt does not progress too fast, because it is going to be difficult to do those midnight digs before this weekend. And they are the greatest!
Sorry was away making dinner. Well the reference to the Vikes: I think they had two clues that gave the same info, depending on if they won or lost. In St. paul. Not on a golf course, but that doesn't necessarily mean there is no golf course. Pace=racing (phalen) or tennis courts. Ace=flying=airplanes (Highland)Astute=stature(phalen) tower or 2= water towers at highland or the towers on the ice castle statue at phalen. King Boreas tells you, you need to look north to see the towers, thus the treasure is south of the towers. picnic areas with roofs & bbq's. And this if far out but I like it: if you "Read this well" the first letters of #4 unscramble into "wars" but that throws a kink into Phalen or Highland.
I don't actually dig in Newell, except for a ritual first turning of the snow. Even last year at the peak of Newell frenzy, I didn't believe it was there. The same goes this year, until I see more evidence. There are plenty of the smaller parks to use in the city, and Newell held the prize in the mid-eighties I think. I still think one of the large parks will be used this year; mostly because there was no snow until right before the hunt.
A covered pavillion that when facing north u see 2 water towers plus tennis jogging path and the first bank building ACE plus the river and the industrial stuff across river.........if a science musem clue comes up then we know for sure..........The paper is in big promotion of museum its good publicity
I'd better get home now, but all of you have an awesome night! Maybe I'll get to log on before bedtime for the next clue, or maybe I'll see you all digging in Newell when I walk Sass in an hour or so!
See ya, PPhool. Glad you'll make it to the Re-Hash Bash.
Ter was digging at The Frog Pond prolly to keep Bee company. As a true Med Hunter and Way Cooler Crew Member, she knows as we all do, the first and last place you dig izz The Frog Pond! More tradition than "the ultimate black hole of mis-guided medallion dreams". :)
Hope to see you later. I'll bee chowing soon and then toddling only to get up for the next clue. Hope ittiz not another late one after 2:00 a.m.!!!
Leah-I've thought of that too, but I'm not terribly familiar with the landmarks on that one. I know the ski jump is there. Does anybody know the name of the skiing assoc. that uses the jump? (Ace's possibly?)
Crosby Park is located near the western end of Shepard Road in St. Paul. Cross Streets would be Shepard and Davern. Right near St. Paul BUCA Restaurant.
Plus I just returned from Driving through Hidden Falls, Nobody was there at all. Highland has a few down by the bridge over Montreal and the Pavillion...clues are not working there.
Drove through Cherokee today...I won't dig there unless I have to. Not at all promising except for pavillions and firepit.

Nice JOE!, King.
I'll be waiting, Mac.

Well no one probably agrees but it may be a possibility that it could at Linwood- so that's what I'm going to check out

Hey Queen what are your thoughts?
I have to giggle a little. I don't make it on for a night, and now everyone is raving about Newell! This is my fourth year of egging people on to that park and the last two have had a remarkable response!

Dave,

CHEROKEE IS THE PLACE!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yep, I have it marked on the calendar!
If the prize IS at Newell, I'll bring some extra fancy stuff!
I loved it that Terry checked the Frog Pond last night! It is the ultimate black hole of mis-guided medallion dreams!
A covered pavillion that when facing north u see 2 water towers plus tennis jogging path and the first bank building ACE plus the river and the industrial stuff across river.........if a science musem clue comes up then we know for sure..........The paper is in big promotion of museum its good publicity

CHEROKEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! PLUS THEY GOT A FIRE PIT What do you think?
Queen- the "War"- could refer to "Battle" Creek
See ya, PPhool. Glad you'll make it to the Re-Hash Bash.

Not Chair-O-Key fur me, Thinker. Was there in '98. And man, were those clues ever HARD!
thinker you thinks it there again - it was just there in 98
how's it goin?
hey dog
Crosby Park is located near the western end of Shepard Road in St. Paul. Cross Streets would be Shepard and Davern. Right near St. Paul BUCA Restaurant.
gotta go and finish up dinner and feed my crew. I'll come back on later tonight. Bye Bye
Is it right before Hwy5 MacGrove?
Places it is not!
CHEROKEE, BATTLE CREEK, MOUNDS PARK, SWEDE HOLLOW
Did you go down there?
Plus I just returned from Driving through Hidden Falls, Nobody was there at all. Highland has a few down by the bridge over Montreal and the Pavillion...clues are not working there.
Drove through Cherokee today...I won't dig there unless I have to. Not at all promising except for pavillions and firepit.
Lots of people today were talking Phalen...
My vote still goes to Mounds Park...stay tuned...
P.S. It's very cold outside!
Yes...it is right before Hwy 5...turn left at the light.
Clues wont work at crosby...pavillion with fire pit but no type of cooking facility...spent a lot of time there in my younger years.
MacGrove what are your thoughts on Linwood?
when I get on...it always gets quiet. Whats with that?!?
I'm leaning towards HARRIET, COMO, or PHALEN!
Somebody argue Phalen and or Como for me...I want to see that light in the tunnel.
I think we might be the only one's here
Welcome back Step and Mac. See'ya Diggin'!
Leah...
I have not been to Linwood though it is a mile down the street. Perhaps after dinner. Have you been anywhere yet?
Yeah right here in this chair- still thinking of where to go
