I like Linwood but don't see where 'Chase' fits in there. What towers can you see from there??

I like Phalen, Last night I could see 1 radio tower all the time, and another in certain parts of the park and a short person would not see the 2nd tower.

Kellogg has Chase reporting accross the street and 2 towers a shelter was set up for WC

I talked to some people at Highland who were on their way to Como...seemed pretty sure of themselves...however they were sure of themselves at Highland for three hours as well.

Hey did you see that big Salvation Army Kettle...I was in charge of creating that MONSTER from scratch in 1993!

I would rule Kellogg out because they are having snow carving tere and they never mix the medallion hunt with an event like that.

The towers you can see from Linwood would be the Highland water towers...the NSP Tower..and any other towe on the west end such as the brewery.

Here I am, a self proclaimed veteran medallion hunter, I have stood inches away from previous years medallions, and I have no friggin idea where it might be this year...any solid guesses from the cooler heads crew? Good luck to all in the hunt.

Why are you thinking Phalen? What towers would you be seeing from different directions there?

Wed, 01/26/2000 - 6:44 PM Permalink
PIE

Places it is not!

CHEROKEE, BATTLE CREEK, MOUNDS PARK, SWEDE HOLLOW, KELLOGG, HIGHLAND

When I went by Newell yesterday there were already about 15-20 people- and I really don't think it's there

Mac Grove man--that kettle is below my window! Makes the greatest landmark for out of town visitors to find me. Can't be Kellogg...it's too close to me. Everyone knows you don't catch fish below your own dock, you have to go across the lake.

patti-- I have a different take on the towers

In clue 2 they use the word "astute" which means clever or cunning. Well, scramble those letters and you come up with "statue".

OK, at Phalen there is a huge ice castle statue that has....2 towers, and you are facing North looking at it.

Just my hunch....

anyone search around highland yet?

Wed, 01/26/2000 - 6:47 PM Permalink
Mac-Grove Man

Highland seems like a dead deal to me...drove/walked through twice today.

New Daddy

I like the statue tower idea, anybody got a clue as to a possible word play on todays clue...'Read this will and you will obtain clue' does this mean this isn't the clue and you have to figure what the real clue is????

StepDogg: I like your reasoning - you may be on to something - Phalen may be it! Tomorrow's clue should tell us for sure!

As I've said before, I work in a pure-Mac environment. This page is done at work, so it is made with an all-in-one G3......
Good Things About Mac(G3's, anyway)

  • A Mac's plug-and-play is much better than that of a PC. Whether it's an external drive or additional memories, you can simply install them without doing anything on the software side.
  • Multimedia support. This used to be Mac's strongest selling point, but PC's are catching up fast. As for now, I get millions of colors on my office G3 and only 24-bit true color on my Pentium 200. There is a visible difference. TOP

Annoy Things About Mac(I wonder if one page is gonna fit)

  • That freaking disk ejection system. You have to either drag a CD/Disk icon into trash or highlight it and do that damn command+E shit. If your system has crashed or something, tough luck, baby. You'll have to find yourself a paper clip and poke into that damn hole. At times like this, I'm reminded of the importance of freedom.
  • Price. I know Apple is lowering their prices for the new products, but a better equipped PC will still cost less. Same thing goes for accessories, Mac is too rich for most people's blood. A top-of-the-line Mac does, in many ways, compete with a Pentium PC. But why pay a fortune for a Mac when you can get a much inexpensive PC with similar or even better performance.
  • Memory management. My all-in-one G3 has 160 MB of ram. You'd thought this is more than you would ever need, right? Hell no! Every time I have Photoshop, Navigator and a BBS client running concurrently, the damn thing complains about shortage of memories. My home PC has only 32 MB of ram, but it runs like Michael Johnson on drugs.
  • Apple is trying to phase out floppy drives. They demonstrating their evil plot by elimi

Patti--I just think that because they led into the clues

(If i am Right...)

Clue 2 -- gives us statue...that's it.

Clue 3 -- gives us towers and face north

Clue 4 -- gives us rain shelter and cooking....right behind the statue is a small covered picnic area and about 10-15 grills...

hmmmm.....

Med2k

what towers are visible around como?

Wed, 01/26/2000 - 6:56 PM Permalink
LLkisses

Anyone have an opinion about this idea or am I just crazy

Wed, 01/26/2000 - 6:56 PM Permalink

You better go dig in those grills Dogg

Radio towers and a water tower

Wed, 01/26/2000 - 6:57 PM Permalink
green

Isn't a "statue" of someone? Like a person or a general on a horse? I'd not call the Ice Palace "Labor o'Love" thingy a "statue," but rather a monument... Yust my take.

Well, I'm outta here for a few hours. Gonna toddle off. Hope to catch you noodlers and diggers 'bout Clue Time!

See ya!

Wed, 01/26/2000 - 6:57 PM Permalink
StepDogg

LL-- they wouldn't put it there because the area is full of people making ice sculptures.

Wed, 01/26/2000 - 6:57 PM Permalink
Med2k

there isnt a water tower by como

Wed, 01/26/2000 - 6:57 PM Permalink
Logan

I don't think it's at Rice

Wed, 01/26/2000 - 6:58 PM Permalink
LLkisses

Yes there is on the other side by the hockey rinks and the fields seen it there last year

Wed, 01/26/2000 - 6:58 PM Permalink
Mac-Grove Man

If you are right StepDogg you will be looked upon as a genius. I will have to go examine this statue.

Question:

Is that the only argument at Phalen for towers?

Wed, 01/26/2000 - 6:59 PM Permalink
LLkisses

well all the clues fit in perfectly for rice to even more so because they have never hidden it there before

Wed, 01/26/2000 - 6:59 PM Permalink
Med2k

what hockey rinks, the ones on mcmurray across from the pool?

Wed, 01/26/2000 - 6:59 PM Permalink
LLkisses

you have to figure maybe that's the whole thing they are throwing everyone off because of the Ice sculptures

Wed, 01/26/2000 - 7:00 PM Permalink
StepDogg

Thanks MacGrove...maybe I'll see you there tomorrow.

Well, I'm out for now....see you all at midnight!!
