WOW! I can't believe they fit a band in that place. We used to go there all the time during the summer. Is it actually going to close or just be put up for sale?

I know that area did take a big hit once the toll bridge was closed years ago. But I thought the marina would still support it.

Looks like you guys had a fun time anyway. Sorry about your phone LL.

well, the band was only 3 guy's but still! poor jeremy is trying to sing and play guitar and people were right on top of him, I wouldn't play in a place that small. the owner said his lease was up so it sounds like someone else is taking over and it will still be open.

I attended service for Kirby at the dome, last night.....

 :frown:

LOTS of people... huge turnout...

large assortment of current/former Twins players, mostly the '87 team, a few from '91....much of them still looking the same, yet older, all at the same time...

Much like the Dome, itself....

stained from the years its been used, but still feeling somewhat like "home"....

Cal Ripken Jr was there, and spoke.... that was nice...

T.K. at the end, was too choked up to speak very long, and had all the players get up, together for a nice tribute/ picture op (I didnt take any.... I was a little cry-baby-bitch, as soon as his family walked onto the field, and temporarily forgot how to use my camera)

very sad time, when they included all the music and videos.... I taped it here at home.... it replayed on a couple of channels way late at night....

:sigh:

Wow!

The parent company of the Star Tribune has agreed to buy Knight Ridder Inc., publisher of the Pioneer Press, for $4.5 billion, in a deal that will create the nation's second-largest newspaper chain.

one the bright side, one possible suitor for the pp is the newspaper guild which represents workers at the pp:

The Newspaper Guild has said it is interested in acquiring newspapers where it represents workers, including St. Paul, Duluth and Grand Forks. Philadelphia, San Jose and Akron are also of interest to the Guild buyout effort. MediaNews, whose chief executive Dean Singleton visited the Pioneer Press and others, could also be a player. Gannett, too, may look to bid for papers in smaller markets. MediaNews and Gannett had been seen as teaming on a bid for all of Knight Ridder, but that never materialized, according to reports.

I shoveled 10 inches of snow here. Dug my shovel in and measured. Drifts on my steps were so big I took them down by scooping three times. Just cleared both sets of steps and sidewalk down to curb. Hopefully the neighbor will plow me out when he gets home from work.

Tomorrow is trash day and I trudged through snow almost to my knees to get to my alley. Lots of drifts back there.

Did my cardio exercises today and it feels good.

Did anybody else get their mail yesterday? The post office always attempts to get the mail out on bad weather, but if too many vehicles wipe out they usually stop. We didn't get any and we live 2 blocks from the SSP post office. Damn Postal workers!!! :eyeroll:

I did watch a Comcast van get stuck next door.

Nope, no mail here. The daughters up by you didn't get theirs Kitch. But maybe they just didn't have any mail yesterday. That's only the second time I remember not getting mail because of a storm.

When we still lived in an apartment we had a huge storm on St. Patrick's day. Snow up to the tire tops. No one in our apartment building could get out for work so we had a big party in the hallway. No mail, no paper, but when we ran out of booze the liquor store made it through the snow for a delivery.

a lot of the junk mail I get, though is because of my sister...

she surfs the net all day at work, signing up herself, and friends and family for freebies that she finds....

I dont think Ive had to buy deodorant, or toothpaste, or disposable shavers, or dog/cat treats for close to 2 years.... it keeps coming for free...

that along with TONS of free magazines - Blender, Spin, Rolling-Stone, Vibe, Paste, FHM, Maxim, Stuff, Baseball America, National Geographic, Smithsonian, and tons of others... this list, is just off the top of my head......a few electronic ones....

as well as coupons, and tons of alchohol related stuff...(magnets, hats, posters, pins, do-not-disturb signs, ... even got a "valet tray" from some vodka company a while back)

Once in a while, though... theres stuff that im just like "why the hell did I get this?", which gets tossed....

Thanks for remembering.

It was a surreal day Sunday where there was no snow on the ground, warm and everybody was outside enjoying Springtime at 50+ temps. Then Minnesota decides to remind it residents of what makes this state unique. The weather. Which personally, I enjoy to the hilt. L.A. would bore the hell out of me. I don't care how 'perfect' they say their weather is. Not by my book. I need and crave change. Plus, it helps make us a productive people. Which I'm sure is in direct correlation with our high standard of living. (or say the news programs anyway)

The day my parents brought me home and shoveled their car out of the parking lot, was a scene to behold as there was one dark square parking spot. Clear of snow. Waiting to be cleaned. In a parking lot with no other cars and tons of snow.

I'm sure it was embellished but I like the visual anyway.

My Mom said she went into labor on a bright 50 degree day and had me in the middle of a huge cold snowstorm, now in the record books, a few hours later.

Her favorite part was getting all kinds of green stuff with her food, linens and everything else and not really knowing it was Sat. Patty's Day. Now she, nor I, will ever forget it.

:ooh:

We had tons of birds on Saturday. I mean it was crazy. And odd as it seemed, each large tree had it's own type of bird in it and no other ones. The Robin tree had at least 15 of them. But the Chickadee tree had 100's. Lots of black birds too. I'll post a picture later. It was way loud too. Of course I have video of that too.
