they released her, super-early this AM...

I went over there today to bring her some surprise ice cream, and slipped and fell on my way in the door on some ice.....

landed on the actual box of ice-cream, and sent a buncha other random crap flying in every direction....

she was standing there, hunched over, looking like she was in a buncha pain... and I go "what the hell? whats wrong now?"

"Stop it! I'm gonna die, because I'm laughing too hard"

heh...

this wasnt even on purpose :coolfrown:

normally though, she wont publicly admit to finding my acts of stupidity, and whateverness funny, and has been known to claim that I was adopted.....

I guess she's kinda supposed to do that though, being the older sibling...

After I fell, she came running to see what happened... thought someone was trying to break into the house....

only after she saw that it was my clumsy ass, did she start laughing....

I held up the smooshed up box, dripping ice-cream all over, and said "hey... I brought you something"

Irritation of the day: Bridezillas.

In the last year the count of friends either getting married or getting engaged is now over 20, and growing by the day it seems. I'm all for love and happiness but these out of control, extremely expensive weddings have got to stop. I'm not spending $500 on my bridesmaid dress, especially something in a color that resembles seafoam.

I've learned something new... Apparently there is an unspoken rule of weddings, if it's inanimate it must be completely covered in flowers. AND those flowers must be talked about non-stop 14 months in advance.

One came into my meeting late tonight, her excuse was "wedding cake tasting disaster" - apparently they can't get her color scheme perfect in the frosting or something (I stopped listening after the word wedding)

I fined her for being late and for being a drama queen. :ooh:

... there went my invite.

well, don't worry l4v... I'll never invite you to a wedding - but vegas sure sounded good

Its not that the bride slept with the best man or setting the veil on fire from the unity candle .... its the cake that can make or break a wedding dontcha know ...

ha ha! well Me2 - you can come and party with me anytime you want to in Vegas !! or California for that matter.

And thanks for letting me skip the wedding.. I don't mind going to them, and seeing my friends exchange love for one another - I just really don't see the friggin point in all the other stuff and I really don't want to hear every detail, unless ofcourse cats that grew opposable thumbs were the seamstress' to attached the sequins to your dress - then I might have some interest.

blah blah blah flowers, blah blah blah cake. blah blah blah dying shoes to match dresses. blah blah blah party favors.

you know what? people are there cause they love you, they don't give a crap about that stuff. All this time picking out the food as the bride/groom you don't really get a chance to eat - who really friggin cares?

actual wedding cake NEVER tastes good - it's like against matrimonal law or something. Only the samples taste good. For the cake the equation is - the prettier it is, the yuckier it tastes.

oh and NOBODY really wants stuff with your names and the date you were married etched in it.

ok, I'll stop venting for now, at least until the next time I get trapped on a car ride with a gaggle of them again.

I can't stand the same boring generic wedding ceremonys. I'm glad the drinking isn't until after the wedding since I know I couldn't resist standing up and yelling BORING!!! during the ceremony.

I did that on my birthday when the band started playing the same tired closing tunes that every fricken band on the planet plays. I supported them throughout the evening but was really disappointed when they started playing Sweet Home Alabama. Those first 4 notes make me cringe in a late night bar.

I yelled out that the last 3 songs sucked big time. I then left to go take a piss when they stopped playing altogether. The place was silent. I was loving it! The power of controlling a band that can't handle a little criticism. HA

I get back to who I was with and they were cracking up because they knew the band shouldn't have stopped playing because it would only give me a big head. They were right.

you lucked out on your cake then. my best friends dad is actually a wedding cake baker and even He makes jokes about how the prettiest ones taste the worst.

You'd miss the snow, the cooler, the seasons, and the cost of housing would give you an ulcer. CA is a great place to visit... and harvest is fun the first year, but it makes for a hard life.

Speaking of cake - I made a flourless chocolate cake with baileys Irish cream frosting. Dang thing weighed 17 pounds - boy was it rich.

you are funny. isn't it fun to control the band? My Fav local band has this song Tahoe they aren't real proud of from their first album the don't even claim... when they play, if there is so much as a lull, I will yell out TAHOE!! PLAY TAHOE!!! - usually I get told to shut up, or last time was - "I'll kill you"

so I mixed it up... when they had that lull, I yelled out play Africa! good times.

Clue Master

I love song lulls!

What a perfect time to yell out anything on your mind so the whole bar can hear you. It's way funny. I always get a high five after those times no matter what I scream. Just because I knew it was coming and took advantage of it. :ooh:

you've never had one of my hubby's wedding cakes then  he doesn't use that pre-made frosting crap on them, he makes his own and it is yummy! just ask scribe  here's the last one he did, every cake was a different flavor with some kind of filling in them.

We did our cake tasting the last two weekends. The woman has worked at Cafe Latte doing desserts. We're doing a cake, but then we're also doing a dessert bar. Cheesecakes, fruit tartlets, tiramisu, all sorts of little goodies.

Coco hasn't really been a bridezilla. We're looking at this more as having fun, both in the process and fun for the guests. Try to have good desserts, have good entertainment, good food, but not stress about it all.

And Novacaine Tongue does make good cake. I enjoyed it at Ares and TC's wedding.

Good for you! That is a healthy attitude. I wish more of my friends went that route.

One of them has 3 different wedding dresses, and is having all 3 of them fitted so she can decide at the end which one is the best...

I made the mistake of helping this same fiend score a winery location (height of summer = $10K for facility) somehow cause I made a phone call and gave her a contact info - it's entitled me to play by play emails/voicemails and lunches that are all about *the day*

I finally told her, to please stop with all the details, cause she was taking away the surprise of what the day was actually going to be like. ahhhhh! If she didn't I would have jabbed myself in the head with a butter knife.

I LIKE sweet home alabama... it's one of the few songs I can still play the drums on and not screw it up...

and LL I'm sure his cakes are great - but I have YET to be at a wedding that had good cake. (perhaps he needs to come to California as I've had dish sponges that taste better)

I should clarify.

The only band that should play Sweet Home Alabama in public is Lynyrd Skynyrd.

Better?
Thu, 03/23/2006 - 10:33 AM Permalink

Also the only band that should play Freebird...

although thats a fun one to yell out, at shows too...

Theres always one in the crowd.

You could be listening to the hardest metal band around and someone will yell "freebird"!

Wicked Nick

Lazy Bone from Bone Thugs n Harmony, when he was here with Twiztid a couple years ago, had a mic mishap, and stopped to ask the crowd what they wanted to hear....

some guy next to the barricade up front actually yelled "FREEBIRD! PLAY FREEBIRD!!!".... Lazy Bone looked down and said "Motha F**ka said Freebird!"

I always liked that cliché' of yelling Freebird no matter what show you were at. It's like yelling SLAYER!! at a Celine Dion concert. You just do it and people just know what you're talking about.

Another one is to play Crew Slut before a large concert. Always a classic fave for the crowd.

Thats happened to me too many times...

so what I started doing, is I type all my blogs in notepad first, and then I do that oldschool trick called "copy and paste" :goofy:

I constantly have notepad open anyhow.... im always jotting down websites to visit later... thoughts, song lyrics, ideas for poems, etc.....

yeah I've been burned by that a few too many times. Lost quite a few good words and ideas to the subether. Started using the notepad trick myself, or some better text editor that does the same thing.

Now all I gotta do is worry about my PC crashing.

wow. they just recently stopped giving in our parking garages the first hour free. For people who work down there it's $4 a day - if you don't, it's $6 a day. The good news? at christmas this auto body shop puts elves out in the parking lots with meters and they run around with change filling them (as promo)

I love elves with spare change.
