well, i i.m. links to specific posts around all the time, both to me2 and to tc. just because the threads aren't accessible to the public doesn't mean there isn't a reason to send links around.

happy! It's 95 degrees out today! It was 80 @ 8:30 this morning!

This gives me reason(s) to celebrate

1. good conditioning for arizona next week

2. when I go out tonight, it will be like 65 and not 45 - so i won't be hauling around a jacket!

3. Sun = ripe grapes. Ripe grapes = good vino.

   good vino = happy L4V.

HOLY CRAP!!

Did any of you other Minneapolis people experience that hail storm?

Damn! That was fricken crazy. I can't remember one so intense. We were watching (and hearing) it from the 53rd floor and couldn't see any buildings anywhere around us. Across or down. Pure white out. Then afterwards it looked like a blizzard went through. Piles of ice everywhere. It would hit all the buildings from the side and all slide down in big chunks. I'd hate to be anyone down on the ground when that hit.

I went down to my car to grab my camera only to find out I brought it in the house to show yesterdays union rally.

For how many times things like that happen to me, I now believe that the storm only happened because I didn't have my camera. That way I actually had to experience it instead of worrying about the shots all the time.

We even got to see us get hit by sideways lightning while we were up there. Every one of us quit touching the window sills after that. :eyeroll:

At least my assistant was able to get a few shots and a movie from his phone.

I did, it was sweet. I wish I didn't have to actually work, because I would have loved to sit and watch. I'm sure it was better from higher up too.

yeah i bet!

our storm experience was to get the plants all protected (either under the deck or in the house as the case may be) to prevent hail damage, only to be part of the little sliver of land that didn't get a drop.

at least not yet anyway.

It was dry here in IGH too. In fact most of my way home it never rained. I was lucky enough to have my wife let me know when the break was so I was able to drive the whole way home with all my windows open. Only road mist for the first few miles then nothing. Weird how definite that line was.

You're right about the plants though. For what trees are downtown, they were partly stripped and there were branches all over.

Good Evening!

We drove through Hennepin county on our way back from spending the day out in west central Minnesota. The rain started out in Maple Plain, was heavy at times but doable. No hail. By the time we got onto 394, we heard what was probably hail hitting the car, but with the wind driven sheets of rain, the lakes forming on 394, and the fact that we were all driving blind, we didn't actually see any hail. There were some power outages out that way.

I'd hate to be on any road during that. I'm sure people just stopped and waited during that main blast. Which lasted way longer than I thought it would. It lasted at least 20 solid minutes.

There was a time when there was no where to pull off. We actually did get off at Louisana for a bit and sat in a parking lot waiting for the worst to be over, but all it took was for us to get back on the road and the skies opened up again. Trying to get onto 94 east was a trip and a half.

The worst part - aside from not being able to see - was knowing all those lakes we were driving through might be affecting the brakes.

Freeways should have pull off lanes. During some of the worse of all that, there was no place to pull off. The shoulders were under water and who knew how deep.

I see by the radar that we're in for some more and the sky sure is getting dark but it doesn't seem to be like before. There was actually a black spot over DT Mpls on the radar earlier. Never seen that B4. Now I know why.

Happy belated birthday OT!!!

Your Joe avatar keeps reminding me of our trip to Pittsburgh last weekend. Joe Maurer got 2 walks in Sat's game. I've always thought that walks should count for something... for every 2 walks counts as a single in there batting avg or if they make in home after walking it counts as an RBI.

I highly recommend doing a road trip to watch the Twins, especially during inter-league games. PNC park was stunning. A few years ago we drove to Chicago to watch the Twins/Cubs game. Nothing like watching baseball outdoors on a nice day.

Walks did count for something in Joe's case. He set a major league record for getting on base four times in five consecutive games a couple of weeks ago. And at least one of those on bases, maybe 2, were walks.

My daughter and her family are going to Chicago the middle of August for an away game. The son-in-law is a good friend of an ump who will be officiating that game and they get really sweet comp tickets.

CM ought to know this ump guy too, but me thinks he skipped too many classes. :pbpt:

ok, here is what the week looks like if anyone wants to go- EVERYONE is invited! bring your own lawn chair.

last year there was a bunch of us---fun!!! I know mucky, kitch and diggin are gonna be outa town already. Anyone is welcome to park at my house and we all walk down or a couple of you will probably meet us/or run into us down there --same plan as last year. That was a good time-bummer some of you missed it, hopefully you won't this year.

Friday June 30 is Alice Cooper meet about 5-5:30ish. in Alice Park ofcourse! bonfire in the backyard if yah want afterwards or go to a bar or a park

Sunday July 2 Davey Jones (Monkees) meet about 7-7:30ish

Monday July 3rd Soul Asylum! (meet about 5-5:30) probably hit a bar or park afterwards.

FYI: July 4th - there will be a bonfire at our house after the fireworks is anyone wants to come see fireworks and drink. (I know its a Tuesday but still) ...also if yah wanna go see David Cassidy or GB Leighton than we can walk down about 6ish!

Note: you don't have to 'hang' with me to use a good parking space. Give me a call and reserve a spot for anytime you decide to go to Taste.

If you are interested in going to see anyone else and you want my company than give me a call as well. I'm up for being out.
