Some pictures from my family vacation last week.

My nephew flew up from Louisiana and gave plane rides, That's our resort at the top of the picture. Maybe you can see "HI" written out with white lawn chairs.

The second picture is of my kids and me.

We had a luau theme for our Friday night end of vacation bash. My two eldest grandsons came as Gilligan and The Skipper.

Well, that didn't work out too well. But I'm sure you can figure out which picture is which.

It was pretty cool seeing them on TV last night. I didn't know they were done to music. Even better! :cool:

My son and his scout troop are canoeing in the BWCA this week...south and West of the big fire...so I won't worry just yet, but awesome photos!

CM - in the first photo - are those purple things shooting up? or is that fall out from the firework itself?

Rated as the best place to watch the July 4th holiday fireworks by Travelocity on msnbc.com (June 2005) the show is reflected in the crystalline waters of Lake Tahoe and the light explosions inspire awe among visitors and residents alike. South Shore’s sandy beaches offer ideal viewing, as do the M.S. Dixie II and Tahoe Queen paddle wheelers. More than 100,000 people watch the South Shore fireworks annually. Launched from an offshore barge, the fireworks are visible from all over town.

The pyrotechnic display is 30 minutes long and features a wide variety of patterns, lights, designs and shapes. No. We are too afraid of fires. With the exception of 1 town in my county - the rest have outlawd home fireworks, thanks to a 500 acre blaze 3 summers ago by some kids with $10 worth of stuff.

Actually the 'major' events don't have a lot of them, the rivercats baseball games on friday/sat nights do a few & I think the state fair does them after concerts every night and Most cities do a few for the 4th... but that's really about it. We don't have cool festivals like Aquatenniel, Taste of Mn, Riverfest etc. Most of our festivals that happen along the river - etc it's just too wooded of an area.

I saw this show in - 2003(I think - 2002?)

It was pretty cool. I don't remember ever saying it was the 'most awesome thing ever' or anything like that - but it was pretty cool.

I'm sort of of the opinion fireworks (like food or wine) are the best when you are there watching them with someone you care about.

therefore the 2 best displays ever would be Canadian Days in Little Canada - when 14, holding hands with a boy while laying on my back on a hill watching the fireworks above me.

or 4th of july 1998 - in Virgina City, Reno sitting in the window of the Silver Queen Hotel room watching the fireworks fall down over us.

We were just lighting off bottle rockets, sparklers, snakes, and whatever other crappy stuff was left over, last night....

It was the biggest fireworks celebration, this side of Phalen Park....

yeah yeah yeah. they outlawed anything that explodes or goes into the air here too unless you have a permit. thank god we're so close to wisconsin though :smile:

I wish they'd have the bands play through the fireworks down at the taste.... seems like they end earlier every year...

We can't even have the little thingys that spin around on the ground. Zip, zilch, zoo-loo.

I did work at one of the booths the town over last month - it was fun to see families come out and get that stuff and still be able to use it.

I happen to have 150 bottle rockets from Wyoming @ my house. Need to take them out in the middle of a lake or on the beach at the ocean or something.
