I still like the PLEASANT (AVE) thing. I think the OPPOSITE they are referring to is the MOOD. Foul and Cloudy can have multiple explanations - ie; clouds from a smoke stack, foul smelling or foul line.
Alison- do you know who Hewitt ave or Pierce Butler are named after?
Also, the radio tower near Newell is owned by Capitol 2-way communication. So, even if you have to face west to see it, you are still facing the capitol - where the king is, get it?
Sorry leelabell, I was away for a bit. I can only assume they were name after Mr. Hewitt, Mr pierce, and Mr. Butler (hehe). No, I can't say I do know, though all the clues can be made to fit Newell one way or the other. Haven't fit the last one to Phalen yet.
I'm afraid I don't recall that site. Maybe I can find it though. As for people at Phalen, well, I don't think anyone is supposed to be there after it closes. Felt like I could get arrested any minute. Had to walk quite a way to get where I wanted to be.
Well WW - If you believe the Darwinian theory of evolution, that would be the perfect place to hide Med. After all - the PP will have sold their subscriptions and if they get a bunch of wacked out diggers following each other over the cliff like lemmings - what a story!! - they'll sell even more papers.
Alright, here's my Phalen theory, cock-eyed though it may be.
Clue #1- Its in a St. Paul park. Perhaps inside something to do with the Vikings.
Clue #2- An ace driver gets to set his own pace because he starts in the POLE POSITION. So that's where I was digging, around a particular pole.
Clue #3- The towers of the monument to the ice castle are due north from the pole I was at. One is taller than the other so you may see one, or you may see two.
Clue #4- The pole is in front of the picnic pavilion which gives you shelter from the rain. There is another smaller shelter not too far off that you can also see from there. Hence places, plural.
Im starting to like Newell more and more... was there last year digging and it is a sparce park with little to go on for clues... which is what we have sofar... no water around it... (#4) a picnic pavilion... (#4) fire pits... (#5) near the fairgrounds and midway stadium... (#3) Look north and you'll see a tower or two (two meaning the number 2 i believe)... (#2) Statue nearby (astute)... (#2) I think pace, ace, chase refers to the marathon just dont know the route... but if that goes past Newell Park then Voila!
That's true SteppDog. Now I'm torn between Newell and Phalen. Not going back at night again though unless the gates are open, which I suspect will only happen if there are just too many people in the park to be able to kick them all out.
I just got back from digging at Phalen. (and yes the gates were locked) Was sure I had it figured out. Now it sounds like Newell again.
Golden, is there a way I can get ahold of you through instant messege or e-mail?
Allison -- oh, have faith....it's there.
Alison, check your e-mail . . .
What had you convinced of Pahlen?

what are saying with Grotto?
if i were the treasure man, i dont think id hide the thing at linwood, cuz of the big bad hill, and small property not on the big cliff hill
thanks leelabell

Well Golden??
newell is a safter park, and so is cherokee for the drunking tresure hunter, or one without sleep like me
Golden what's your input on Grotto

Clue #5- ???? No Phalen explanation for that yet
good point birdie, about cherokee, you know it still could be their too.
Golden are you going to answer?
looked at linwood for the last 2 years! i am not doing that again even if it is there!
Allison--
I think clue 5 has something to do with what it's hidden in...
It does say "extract the prize"
So did I Boo - but I was also at Newell last year!!
Got nothin Golden?

stepp- maybe it's in a dead chicken=foul meaning smell and chicken!
Here's my take:
Clue #1: IT's NOT Swede HOLLOW (Red Herring #1). It's Not on Golf course grounds.
Clue #2: "Ace" : Tennis Courts; Pace/Chase : ref. nto running track?
Clue #3: Tower(s) and / or teh number "2"; Looking North or toward DTWN
Clue #4: Line up with Picnic Shelters / grills
Clue #5: Opposite of foul mood : Pleasant (Ave); Cloudy : Smokestacks.
Who's with me - HELLO.
That's true SteppDog. Now I'm torn between Newell and Phalen. Not going back at night again though unless the gates are open, which I suspect will only happen if there are just too many people in the park to be able to kick them all out.
