I say that everytime anyhow - I just don't tell them

2 years ago on my wedding anniversary I was in the ladies room (yes the haunted one on the 3rd floor) ... a bride came in to fix her make-up, I screammed in my head to her "Don't do it"!!! OMG, don't do it!" over and over again. It was personally quite funny.

but in reality I want to be married. I yearn and need and want to be in love and live and laugh and cry with someone who wants the same from me. sappy? I don't care anymore. Thats who I am. But definately, when it comes to seeing a young couple tieing that knot...in most cases I cringe. I don't have to watch them from my office...I just enjoy listening to the music.

I was at the clerks office getting my fict, biz statement on my anniversary just last week, and there was a bride in there (acting rather bratty for a bride getting married in the clerks office - if I do say) and I just wanted to walk over to her, and say, come with me, come on, lets get you out of that silly white dress and take you home.

I don't know if any of you have sirius, but channel 114 (it's called LIME) had this love talk show on this morning, and it was all about how people marry for the wrong reasons etc... and I'm sitting there checking off in my head all the things my anxious girlfriends are saying which are right in line with what these people are saying are reasons NOT to get married. Social Status, Family pressure, security. I think I might get a copy of that show and then give it to all my girls.

hey Me2... another thing

"I yearn and need and want to be in love and live and laugh and cry with someone who wants the same from me."

since when do you need a license from the state to have the things above that you want?

sounds to me like you are pro love.

enjoy:

1) driving to San Fransisco last night for Hooters Hot wings (yes, an hour down and an hour back trip for hotwings)

2) Blue Moon beer with slices of oranges

3) walking along Fisherman's warf when it's all still open @ 10pm, but the tourists have all gone away for the night

4) while down in SF, going to the beach along the great highway and sitting on the retaining wall and watching the 50+ some bonfires on the beach and hearing the yells of laughter of the people who were partying.

5)78 degrees at midnight when I got home (almost unheard of for our area)

6) getting paid time and a half all day here while sitting at work

or and 7) getting a pair of $80 4" t-back black heels for $7.99 on sale last night

the marriage part comes in on a level that society places. I, unfortunately, admit to being anal about things being finished/complete and just so. I have trouble with not telling the truth as well. Example: to say "my husband this" and "my husband that" makes me feel I am not lying. If I use "my boyfriend...blah blah blah" or my "significant other blah blah blah", while living together with kids, I feel not right in my chest. kinda strange to explain. I know it in my heart and soul but I have to know I did it legally. Strange how I don't mind breaking the law at times over stuff but this one is important to me. I've even studied other countries marriages and read theories on how people can't be in love with only one person for their whole lifetime so marriage shouldn't 'be' and living together is alright... but for me, there is something more, a trust a promise...that I, and hopefully my partner will do whatever they can to make 'us' work. That goes in to the "it takes two" category. I take great thought and emotion into the words "I promise" ... no matter for marriage or any promise. If I break it, it will be only after I have done my best. Yes, promises can be made without a piece of paper... but people (neighbors, friends & family) are good at shame. Placing shame and looking down upon those that live together and are not married, and worse if they have kids. I try hard NOT to ever look down upon an unmarried couple.

A marriage to me is hearing and saying all the time

"I

 l

 o

 v

 e

 y

 o

 u",

the slight touches as one passes the other, the doing things for them, the keeping them in my thoughts throughout the day when I see something they may like or shouldn't be missing out on. Someone who gives you a smile when thought of. All of that doesn't take a piece of paper.

awww. all your romantiscism (is that a word?) makes me all warm and fuzzy Me2.

I get what you are saying.. totally, I somehow also think that the 2k miles between us, have different social values in general. I live in extremely liberal Sonoma County (one of largest gay/lesbian pop in california) love and being with the other person seems to be enough in many cases here.

I also think what you value is what many people would call the 'perfect 10 marraige' I think it's what everyone hopes for. I just happen to think most people rush into things hoping that over time it will become the perfect 10, but what they have in reality is the just getting by, semi unsatisfactory ok 4.5 marraige.

Me2 - do you recall which book? I wrote one of my papers on the study of marraige in different periods of America, but other foreign countries would interest me to.

I got to scrap my installation (which was a parody of Winter Carnival. I printed out copies of all the old buttons on my color printer, and then cut them out and glued them together to make my background. It looks awesome!
