They opened another one- interesting.

Which reminds me.... I need to touch base with them before Christmas about making sure they WILL accomadate us in January before and after clues come out.... as we know Rockin Lobster bit!!!

About the same time as I do that someone should be checking for predig reservations at McGoverns so we dont have to deal with their cranky butts come January...if thats still the home base for predig?

For the other nights I can always request the Capitol Room at MattyB's or just meet in the front "wine room" is what they call it at the window.... or Great Waters is still in the running I think. I happen to like the Liffy now but it can't hold everyone, thats just another good meeting place to keep in mind.

Hello Viking Fans!

Be sure to stop by the brand new Matty B's Urban Bar & Restaurant before or after the Minnesota Vikings take on the Chicago Bears tomorrow! Enjoy great food and cocktails and get a sneak peak of our new location!

Matty B's Urban Bar & Restaurant is located at 501 Washington Avenue in Minneapolis.

Were you at Oktoberfest? My youngest daughter and a couple of her her friends were celebrating their birthdays together so we missed it this year. Too bad they were both the same night. One of the birthday girls was a Peta, so some of them came to the party too.

They had the party at the Grand 7 on 7th. I'd never been there before. They closed the place for the private party, but the 2000 Vulcans showed up, ate their food and drank their beer and left.

Anyone need a 2000 I Had A Drink With Klink button? :eyeroll:

I think the name of it is

Capitol City Meats...

its just north of University on Rice...about half a block..

normally its angus...and is the best I've found in the cities...cheepest 2.

seriously no other place to buy brisket IMHO.

I've been to places where they charge more for it than hamburger...which is BS as you gotta grind it to make the burger....

I let them have a piece of my mind....

That's very reasonable. I only need about a 4 lb. roast. Trying out a new recipe. Beef brisket braised with dried fruit, yams and carrots, cooked in a dutch oven. :pbpt:
Mon, 09/25/2006 - 7:38 AM Permalink
KITCH

4lb?????

ok..as for a small one...will be about 8lbs...

see if you can get lucky and ask them to trim it...maybe he will..

but for a 4lb roast you really want to trim it down...you could cut off 3 lbs of fat easy.

Thanks for the information. My four pound roast could have ended up really small you're saying. I didn't know that.

Seeing that it's a new recipe, I didn't want to go crazy or anything.

I meant to tell you a while back, I was sitting on the daughter's front step a month or more ago and saw smoke coming from up your way. I figured you were probably doing one of your bbq's.

possible...normally you can smell it....

I've been able to smell it 2 or 3 blocks away.

I'm not sure if I have the name right or not... but is Pioneer Meat still around? I think it was down by Dale??

They used to have the yummiest pepperoni sticks when I was a kid.

Fall always makes me hungery for chili! Chili with corn bread muffins and apple crisp, apple cobbler, apple pie, apple cider, baked apple, etc.

Does anyone have a favorite recipe they would like to share?

I have a request

if anyone has a full set of dishes or nice blankets they want to get rid of/donate... I know someone who is unfortunate to not be able to afford to purchase their own and I'm looking for a way to help. I may just go out to JC Penny and buy a set but I thought if anyone was gonna be upgrading theirs soon and had a decent set...

full set being ie: 8 dinner plates, 8 small plates, maybe cups and saucers to match

thanks much in advance for dishes/blankets or ideas

Pioneer Sausage is no more. They had the best Swedish Sausage anywhere. They closed several years ago.

Capital City Meats is a great place for meat and very reasonable.

Anyone remember Twin Cities Today with Steve Edelman and Sharon Anderson? The owner/head butcher at Capital City Meats used to be a regular on that show.

I remember when they used to broadcast from the fair, and the taste, and stuff. That was always a fun show to watch. Came on at like 3pm or something.

OT, His painted picture is still there,

Vino, I don't think we ever had those pepperoni sticks. We tended to get Swedish Sausage and Blood Sausage from Pioneer Sausage. I wish they were still there - or at least have given their recipes to someone else.

My Step Dad loved the sausages! They were a staple on the BBQ ever summer.

I've always been a slim jim & beef jerkey nut, and these were like that, but better. way way way better. Gosh I loved them. My step dad would buy 3 or so pounds at a time, and they would have to dole them out to me, cause I wouldn't stop eatting them.

  • sniff* sniff... I've never been able to eat a slim jim or other sausage stick, without remembering those things.

Don't remember that, but I remember Good Company... Used to have to watch it with my mom in the summer. I wanted to marry Sharon, but was afraid we may have been related. Steve got on my nerves.
