second part of clue 1 basically says dont be a rebel stay off the golf courses... they are sick and tired of people digging them up it seems to be quite simple
hooray i made it on...(thanks cp!)the search has begun! i went to newell yesterday ~5:30pm...very quite but some digging had taken place. there is no statue at newell
I have not ruled out Mounds, but the frequent references to baseball lead me farther from it all the time. Unless Mom's really stretching it by "mounds" being a pitcher's mound and thus the baseball reference.
werentany- i'm with you all the way- IT'S NOT AT NEWELL! But alas I don't really have any good ideas for where it is. There are several parks that fit three or four of the clues, but nothing seems to fit them all.
Its not at Mounds... it never will be again... too much destruction. If its at Mounds... then someday they're gonna hide it in a cemetary... don't think so. Don't be fooled by Mounds Park.
Hi, I'm your customer. I'm here to buy your sales pitch that it is not in Newell...please sell me on why you think it's not there. I'm all ears. Is there anything other than the statue deal?
Duane... if it was in Newell... they wouldnt give new in clue and well in a clue so quick... i believe the smaller park theory because they haven't named a big park by clue 5. The smaller parks aren't given away until later in the clues.
also believe the line..."opposites attract and thats a fact" is very important to our quest... just gonna keep analyzing it cuz it is a true statement... now just to put it together...
Well, I'm actually not convinced that "astute" is meant to mean "statue." And I do like the FAIR_ interpretation for today's clue. And granted, Newell has shelters, a place for cooking, and towers. That being said, all the necessary features within Newell are scattered, no? If we are to look by the tennis courts, we won't be anywhere near the shelters. Finally, I think that "pace" and "chase" are important, so I think there must be a running path or similar in the park, and I don't think Newell has one (a path as opposed to a sidewalk). I hope this is sounding reasonable.
CP they wouldnt use the words new and well in seperate clues like that so early... thats why everyone is yelling Newell again right away this year... remember ... ths clues are meant to fool u and dont think for a minute that they dont watch this board each year to see how we all noodle and what tips us from 1 place to another... just isnt gonna be Newell... they may want us to believe it is of course
I don't think any single word in Clue #2, taken by itself means anything, including ace. I believe the clue as a whole is trying to say something. If so, the clues all point to Newell. Unmistakably. And that worries me.
Most of the clues are a bunch of jibberish with wild words to throw us... there are just bits and pieces of each clue that add up as the clues get released further
I remember a lot of people jumped on the Newell band wagon early last year too with "studying the past can be quite a blast, but there's value as well in the NEW." Therefore people picked up a shovel and headed for Newell that night. I'm just wondering if it actually is in Newell, does that mean Mom has to avoid using the words "new" or "well?" so as not to tip people off. Maybe she's doing this INTENTIONALLY so we'll write off Newell early, under the pretense that "it couldn't be that simple!!" Or maybe I just need a nap.
I'll listen to anyone's theory, after all, management is always telling me to "think outside the box."
A few more reasons it's not at Newell: 1) as werentany said, if it was a smallish park such as Newell, they would wait longer to give it away. 2) it just seems TOO easy. It doesn't seem like enough creative thinking had to be done to come up with Newell, except for maybe serve=BUTLER. I don't have any solid ideas of where the medallion is, but my personal gut feeling is... not Newell.
I think it could be that simple, actually. If you look back at the clues and meanings from the past, they really aren't rocket science. It just seems tricky because there could be so many interpretations. But everyone sighs an "Oh yeah... that TOTALLY makes sense" when you read them after it's over. I say go Newell!
In any case, I think that clue #6 will be of great help; probably a street clue. Right now, as I see it, nothing fits all the clues. Maybe they didn't actually hide it, but just made up random clues to keep us all running around town wasting our time. Maybe I'm too sleep-deprived due to the hunt and homework.
Although, if it's based on simplicity, we'd all have Swede Hollow torn apart by now because of the Vikings depression in the first clue. Electric Duane (I like to refer to myself in the 3rd person, just like Herschel Walker) is gonna sit tight for a while. BUT-- you can't win any $$$ by sitting on your ars. I shall name it "energy rationing"
I will have to admit that I jumped on the Newell bandwagon last year. I was one of the first people there and one of the last to give up hope on it...I'll tell you what: other than the Butler clue, there is only one other thing that points to Newell: opposite of cloudy and foul and rain is clear or fair and there is a view of the fairgrounds, but it seems like a stretch...Allison, care to share your idea about clue 2? I dont see it.
agree with the map master...i totally thought it would be newell and went there yesterday, once you go there you seem to change your mind...but where is it??
Midway... "midway stadium"...I've been down this road a few hours ago. 1. firefighter tower 2. "light towers" around the stadium 3. baseball "park"...nothing in teh clue says it's a real "park" 4. inspection..."fire inspector"....firefighter/drill tower 5. "drill tower"... well/drill 6. relief...under the bleachers/outhouses/etc 7. ace....no hitter/ace 8. "new obsession" baseball 9. cooking "condiments" 10. "foul" foul ball/fair-opposite/fair ball 11. x-track...tracks by the stadium I think
got to go to class now. Hopefully my prof will say something that will somehow shed light on the clues. Yeah, right. Keep on pondering, and good luck all.
for newell...other street name links can be made.. fair...fairview... also pierce(look) butler (serve) too obvious? Not necessarily...how many parks would you have to narrow to find this street to get to it...I think we're just that good... or not?!
Your thoughts make sense, but unless someone's been out there already, I don't think the authorities would look too kindly on all us crazy cooler people taking 500 shovels to the place where the Saints play...ya'know? Things could get out of hand.
second part of clue 1 basically says dont be a rebel stay off the golf courses... they are sick and tired of people digging them up it seems to be quite simple
CP - Which clues led you to Conway early?
hooray i made it on...(thanks cp!)the search has begun! i went to newell yesterday ~5:30pm...very quite but some digging had taken place. there is no statue at newell
Where is that Fool?
I am mad and having fun with colors!
Go Vikings!
Well not this year
Does anyone still think it might be in Mounds Park??
Clue Buster- I think it is a distinct possibility, all of the clues do fit. I like phalen a little more though.
Here are some links for you people playing with anagrams in the clues

CB..do you think it could be Mounds Park...& Y?
I'm starting to think Newell Pfool is the clue writer! That's why the clues always seem to lead to Newell every year.

The Newell Pfool lives by Newell Park and is lazy!
He is a teacher but not the clue writer - I would know, I am his wife

lol@ Girl
the mounds at mounds park have been fenced in
Werentany, lol at laziness?
Hide-n-seek I just like Mounds, and the clues seem to fit.
I don't know Girl. The PP is awfully secretive! hehe
dos anyone know anything about the game of lacrosse
Duane... if it was in Newell... they wouldnt give new in clue and well in a clue so quick... i believe the smaller park theory because they haven't named a big park by clue 5. The smaller parks aren't given away until later in the clues.
Yeah, Allison...they're building "the bomb" inside PP's headquarters. :~)
also believe the line..."opposites attract and thats a fact" is very important to our quest... just gonna keep analyzing it cuz it is a true statement... now just to put it together...
helllllllo...is there a term "ace" used in lacrosse

clue 2,4,5,6 had alluding to conway last year.
new/well....not easily seen until starting to put it all together now....newell still looks good to me.
or midway....
not sure about ace and lacrosse...sorry.

Most of the clues are a bunch of jibberish with wild words to throw us... there are just bits and pieces of each clue that add up as the clues get released further

I liked Newell until I went out to take a look around. Now I'm not so sure anymore. Could be anywhere yet!
Midway is not a park.

Prediction: Crosby Park
Rock on....

Yes, but Midway is not a St.Paul park

Hiyall - just in for a quick post-n-run!
Green.....did I miss something? Whaddya mean by your triangulations??? I *might* have something, but need to know what you're thinkin', hon.
Baby's waking up, so I won't be here long right now.
