Still having a non-responsive computer. (taking to Geek Squad today). Fortunately having the kid's computer to get on-line. Dial-up only.
Needing to get the Wife's resume' off the broken computer so she can bring a copy with her to her first interview since she's been out of work in April. Having her car only use 2nd gear thus needing to share my car. ARRGGHH! :frown:  :frown:
My car has said Check Engine for the last year. (on mine) it's something to do with the smog stuff, but since I don't have to smog where I register it - I just leave it.
I've ran my car for the last three years with that light on.
Computer diagnostics says it's a bad catalytic convertor on mine, but the car runs fine, so I leave it alone (those things are spendy, in fact I heard in some bad areas thieves cut em off cars because they're worth so much in either scrap metal or to someone needing a new one).
I am the most pissed anyone will see me EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! more F(#&$%_# mad than something I had to deal with 2 weeks ago!
I come into work after a nice long weekend to find out they switched out my computer and 75% of my files and folders and pics are missing.
the IT guy says 'everything that was in "my documents" was transfered over' BASTARD! I told him ITS NOT HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
the shortcut link I used DAILY on my desktop - he says it didn't lead anywhere when he clicked on it so it didn't get transfered. I use it DAILY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!how can it not work!!!!
That sucks me2. I feel your pain. I might have to reformat my current drives in order for my computer to work again. I've already lost 3000 pictures when I had my old drive go out on me a couple of years ago. I can't afford to have another 6000 pix get lost this time. Luckily I did save some to disc this time around. But I just can't think of how much stuff one has on their drives and then to loose it all.
And in my case, loosing it during a fricken back-up session. :frown:
Having a phone message for my wife that sounded like it was from an HR department where she applied for a job and, after getting up the nerve to call, finding out it was a bill collector for the same company instead. Talk about a sad day in the CM household. :frown: :frown: :frown: :frown:
Sorry too me2, that's no good. I wouldn't trust an IT department, I'd keep everything on disk or a handy thumb drive (best bet is copy to two drives, that way you've got some redundancy in case one thing gets wiped out somehow).
Speaking of which, I gotta backup my data again, can't imagine my computer's drive going out... yeck!
what pissed me off the most was that originally my computer wasn't supposed to be touched til January. I was getting past the annual meeting last week and birthday weekend and then gonna work on getting files where they needed to be before next month.
well, one of the girls I work with, her computer crashed Thursday. I was supposed to get her computer. She had it all backed up on the mainframe so she got a brand new computer and they loaded all her stuff back on it from the mainframe. Since this happened before January they decided to put a new hard drive in her crashed computer and give it to me! They didn't call me, they just did it on my day off and didn't call me!!!!!!!!! so, I come in to find a switched computer, her dusty speakers, her dusty keyboard!!!! Just last week I dusted my keyboard and changed the fonts and stuff on my computer to where I wanted it all to be.
So today they found out that my computer was not nightly backing up into the mainframe like everyone elses!!! at least I had a green m&m platter of Christmas m&m's on my desk  :sheepish:
WoW CM, sorry to hear about that- ironic! how many companies are there in the world and she puts an application in with them? maybe they'll give a deal to people that work there  I've heard lately that the job market is tight and even the holiday work is hard to find. I'd try Macys if I needed a job - holidays and discounts  and everyone looked to be in the Christmas spirit and smiling and helpful- people that are nice to be around.
I did a holiday stint at an express store in the mall. turned out my computer guru side was better than my customer service side, and i got paid more money to load the inventory into the computer in back, rather than work the front.
I have a huge external hardrive, that I save all my photos / music / important stuff to, and then my lap top - however my laptop has been acting strangely lately.
and that macy's discount is nice!!! of course, there's no such thing as full price merchandise at macys anyway. we managed a pair of coach purses for tc last month for about 45 bucks a piece
i've got 3.2 tb of tape space at home that everything gets backed up to nightly, and anything personal on my work machine goes over my vpn tunnel to home.
I have more storage than one can shake a stick at. It's just not to enticing that the thing crashes when performing the actual backup itself. We are looking onto a MAC. I haven't heard many negative things about a Mac.
When I was in mexico - I almost bought a knock off Hermes. (like the one martha stewart carries that costs 5k) it was a really really really good copy. I mean really good, and it was about 200 bucks. But I just couldn't see myself with a 200 purse.
Umm.. yeah... that's messed up. You'd think common sense would've intervined...
If they'da called me in to watch the girl, A, I would've left the room and told the girl to put her clothes back on, B, found another phone to call the real cops, and C, kept the guy on the line until the cops could apprehend him at the place he was making the call from.
some old perverted freak wants me to go to a back-room office, and get all butt booty naked, so they can shpank me - all in the name of justice - I'd think about becoming an outlaw, by doing a Chuck Norris all over their face.
When I was in college I worked in gift wrap at Daytons during the Christmas season. Best job ever! Lots of people had their gifts wrapped back then and were mostly in a good mood.
I rode the bus downtown and the bus driver knew the regulars by name, and one of my all-time favorite memories is working Christmas Eve until the store closed at 5:00 and riding the bus home during a beautiful snowfall and the driver leading us in carols.
Now you've got me going.
I also remember that at the Christmas party, which every single employee was invited to, Kenneth Dayton walked around the room and greeted each of us individually.
I like Macy's.. but I miss the Emporium and Capwells when they merged with Macy's. Emporium carried different lines of clothing.
I still have Magnums out here in the city. (before my time) My mother dated the son of the owner of the store. She has lots of lovely furs and expensive lounging suits etc.
I think I'm going to the city tomorrow night for a bonfire on the beach - and maybe a trip past macy's in union square where they make it snow outside.
my mom fell yesterday afternoon from a ladder while putting up new curtains - I was gonna take her to the hospital at 11 last night (when the pain was unbearable) but my sister is cramming for finals so she drove her - she said she could pull an "all nighter" studying at the hospital while waiting on xrays. Turns out mom has a terrible sprained ankle (which I've heard is worse than a break). :frown: - I'm gonna try to help her this weekend while cramming shopping in.
Hope your mom feels better soon, me2. How lucky she is to have the two of you. Daughters rock!
It's midnight right now and my four daughters have been here all evening painting my kitchen! Right now they're putting up wainscot on the lower wall. The one who lives in Zumbrota is staying over tonight so they can finish up tomorrow. And they're letting me leave to go with my sons to cut my Christmas tree.
irritates - how rough my co-ed league soccer division is. (my team is cool though)
at one point last night one of the boyz of the team was up against a girl to get the ball near the wall, and she started hitting him and he can't do anything. So - what did I do? I flung myself between them and the *B* hit me in the back of the head. She got yellow carded and I got warned -cause after she hit me, I threw her down to the ground.
need to get gas in car (5 mins)
need to make an a.t.m. deposit-wouldn't read my card (5mins)
traffic at a later time (another 10 mins)
getting in to work at 9am vs. 830am...grrrrr
not really a biggy (I won't get in trouble) i just hate it
..ITS AN OLD CAR....ITS MADE ITS RUN.
I'M NOT REALLY GOING TO GET ALL WORKED UP ON THIS ONE....
BUT IT IS TIME TO START LOOKING...
Needing to get the Wife's resume' off the broken computer so she can bring a copy with her to her first interview since she's been out of work in April. Having her car only use 2nd gear thus needing to share my car. ARRGGHH! :frown:  :frown:

Kick him or something!

I love Christmas Spirit
I worked there when it was Marshal Fields...
at two different locations....
both when it was owned by Target, and again after it wasnt anymore.
blah.
finding work. blah blah.
That was really nice!
Same deal w. Nordstroms c/ the purses.

Sad for the girl...REALLY sad for the community..

my first credit card was with Daytons
I heart Daytons too
Can bet that don't happen anymore.

I know that's what I feel like doing when hearing Christmas Carols
This is a slightly irregular radio commercial for a slightly irregular store (...three, four).
Hurrah's is the name and what we sell here is irregular clothes but they're just slightly irregular...
..they're so slighty irregular you hardly even see or care you oughta get yourelf a blouse, or smock or shirt or jeans to wear...
you never really know what we have at Hurrah's but whatever we have is reeeeeally cheap!

I have a great sister
Sprains hurt :frown:
