super-duper enjoy:

meeting a living legend.....

Hulk Hogan was at the MOA today, with his daughter Brooke, who is currently on tour with her first CD in stores... she performed at the Myth last night or something, for KDWB's x-mas show...

so yeah... in order to get the hulksters autograph, you had to buy Brooke's CD...

I gotta pic taken of me and Hulk Hogan, dude.... how freakin cool is that?

AND on top of that, he signed my "autograph chair".

lemme explain:

I've gotta metal folding chair, like the ones you see dudes getting hit with on TV.... that I've been taking to get various wrestlers autographs on....

The first one I got was Mick Foley, back in 1999, when Summerslam was at the Target Center, and he was in town a couple of months ahead of time, doing promotional stuff.

what made that really cool, was that after Summerlam was over, we were hanging around out in back of Target Center, waiting to see wrestlers, and we ran into Mick Foley, trying to catch a cab back to his hotel.

the 4 of us stood there and waited with and talked to him, and in the process, were probably acting super geeked out, and totally hound-dogging him.....

after a couple of minutes, he says "now I remember you guys... I was trying to figure out why you looked familiar... you were the guys that had the steel chair!"

blew me away...

he probably has run-ins with countless fans all the time, but yet he remembered me, all because of my chair.

It was awesome....

he even called me "dude" and "brother" a couple of times.. it sounds just like you would imagine.

And he laughed when I told him that, every day, I say my prayers and take my vitamins cause he told me to, back when I was a little kid.

he wasnt given very much time to talk to every single person..... that kinda sucked...

although, I did ask him how often he comes back to Minnesota, nowadays (these were his stomping grounds, back in the AWA days), and he said that he wished he could do it more often....

He seemed pretty impressed that I knew about the old AWA gym that was on 7th street, here on the East Side, too...

and also said that he was planning on hitting up Mancini's for food, while they were here (back in the day, that was a major hangout for wrestlers in the area)

I name-dropped a couple of guys who had a hand in training him, when he was in this area, who are still involved with a few independant wrestling federations, and whom I've spoken to, many, many times in the past few years.....

I dont think he was expecting any of that stuff, in the short minute or 2 that I saw him....

thats what made it even better....

he stopped being a celebrity for a couple of seconds, and was a real guy.

most of those guys love it when somebody can do that.

My original plan was to hit on her, and pretend like I didnt know who "the old guy" was.

she asked what my name was so she could write her autograph on the CD cover booklet thing, and I told her to write it out for Wicked Nick.

what she wrote was "stay wicked, love brooke"

yeah.... its like that...

I'm gonna be back out there again sometime tomorrow too, Me2....

I've made like 5 trips out there within the past 2 weeks, because I keep forgetting to buy a buncha things when I'm there.

the place is too big, and theres too much stuff to check out, and too many people to watch.

Sooner or later, yeah.

It depends on when I can get it onto a disc/computer from my camera.

Gonna get that one framed, too...

And possibly give a couple copies to a few friends of mine, who decided it wasnt worth their time to go and meet him - and then later on, got pissed off when they heard that I actually talked to him.

actually, when he came in, I was doing a head flip back and forth and was caught with the camera in my hands when it was sarah taking pics 5 seconds before me!!! It was as if I had pciked up the knife after finding a dead person and the cops walk in. He seemed mad that Sarah and I were taking too long in the gingerbread house and there was that huge group of people between us. After we walked out I had to think if you two had ever met. guess you havn't. later he told me there was an incident with whitney and a woman who worked behind the counter and thats why he came in to get us quickly. I guess Whitney and he were waiting for us and she said loudly how boring and dumb the gingerbread house was and he was embarrassed that the woman heard her and he had to stand there so he came back in to get us. I looked for you afterwards and didn't see you. I wanted to wish Ali good luck in her choir concert as well.

Congrats Ares!

Kitch, the first one is blurred but the other two look fine to me.

no not that time silly.

he just felt bad that the woman looked like she didn't like her job and here's this kid saying loudly how boring and dumb the gingergread house was. bottom line is that too much happened in an instant and I wish I could do it over again. sorry cm - I know how much you probably wanted to get your pic taken with a local celebrity :eyeroll: - at least you got to talk to him on the phone :goofy:

I had each of my kids make a gingerbread house as a Christmas project a few years ago. I gave them each of kit at Thanksgiving. You wouldn't believe the houses they made! My daughter went so far as to make her own gingerbread because their house was so big.

If I can find the pictures around here I'll post pics.

Over the years they've made the houses, ornaments, wreaths, socks, snow globes and one year they had to find the funniest gift at a dollar store. This year they're supposed to compose a song or poem about their favorite Christmas memory.

one year they had to find the funniest gift at a dollar store.

Thats what I've been doing the past buncha years for my two step-brothers.... the 3 of us always try and out-do eachother, every year....

I think I have them beat this year, no matter what they come with.

What did you find?

One of them found a little ceramic toilet with a candle in the bowl. I still have that in my downstairs bathroom. :pbpt:

I got one of them a big ol' candy dispenser, that sits on a table... it looks like a reindeer...

you push his head down, and the candy comes out of his butt... little round pieces of chocolate

and for the other one, I got this wall clock with a cats face on it... the hands look like whiskers....

but the best part - is that every hour, instead of boring old chimes or whatever, it has this hissing/meowing fit that lasts about a minute, and is super loud.

I plan on setting some batteries in it, and wrapping it, before me and my sister go to my moms on X-mas morning....

because we usually all assemble there super early, and sit around having home-made cinnamon rolls and stuff for a few hours before opening presents....

The entire time we'll be sitting there, every hour, the box is gonna be making noise.....

<evil laughter>

If thats not good enough....

we're going to really get one of my cousins good, later on in the day, when everybody on my moms side of the family shows up for the festivities.

I posted in another thread a couple of weeks ago, about a cousin of mine who kinda fell into underwear modeling, by chance....

me and another cousin hatched a plan, the other day, to have all of the cousins each buy him one pair of underwear, so he's embarrassed as all hell, infront of the 50 or so people that will be there.

Years ago, someone started a (really silly) tradition, of - whenever someone gets a pair of underwear, they have to put them on, right there, over whatever they are already wearing, while trying to keep a straight face and do a "sexy dance"....

You think having to do that one time in a day is bad enough, how about having to do it 14 times? 15 actually this year, because a cousin who rarely comes to family stuff will be there, and participating in full.

Gotta love underwear gifts. It took me years and years to get out of the habit of buying my kids underwear when they were all grown up. Now I limit myself to putting socks in the grandchildren's socks.
