I was shopping at Gold Country on campus when it started to snow today. I decided to take University Ave. home because I figured 94 would be a mess, this being the first snow and people having short memories when it comes to driving in the snow.

University was a parking lot with people spinning their wheels and traffic backed up. Half way to the Capitol I hear on the radio "don't make a move". University Ave. is worse than 94. It took me almost an hour to go from campus to Robert St.

But it sure is pretty but heavy to shovel.

hating the hell out of lovey dovey, happily in-love couples, like the ones I saw earlier tonight, who were walking through Mears park, looking at holiday lights

Lemme guess - you pelted them with snowballs?

I think it's OK. It'd be nice to be able to do that without caring what others thought.

no....

I just sat there on the bench, alone...

secretly wanting them to slip and fall, so I could laugh at them....

but yes...

sadly, I agree.

that would be nice to be able to do that. :frown:

Sarah is having 16-20 teenagers over for a Christmas party tonight. at first I thought they could go outside for a snowball fight...then I remembered the 4 wild turkeys that have been gracing us with their presence over the last 6 weeks and all that turkey poop in the yard and park! DOH!

they have a patern. They walk across Cherokee Ave and up into Alice and into the yards of the 5 houses here to eat, they hang out in the trees and even hang out on the roofs of some of the houses...then by 4 pm they make their way back to the bluff. Its been extremely cool to watch. The cats watch too. BUT WOW do turkeys have big POOPERS and poop ALOT!!!!

oh and fyi on the couple in the park thing....if you woulda thrown snowballs at me and my love than I woulda had a blast throwing them back at you and at my love and then rolled around in the snow with him and shoved snow in his face and down his pants and jacket which would have led to kissing :sheepish: :ooh: and made you more mad - sorry, that is all

I'm reminded every once in a while how life is such a blessing and to try to take advantage of it when you can. Its been 1 year since an elderly couple hit my truck -luckily we were ok. LAST NIGHT as I drove up the Ohio Hill, a truck came down the hill --sliding into my oncoming lane right on the curve. I slam on the brakes and swerve as he comes with in 2-3 feet as we both come to a complete stop and the 2 cars behind me slam on their brakes!!! that was a huge close one! and then the other day as I walked acoss the street at St Peter and 5th st...on the green light.... a woman came driving up quickly and was turning right into me and not stopping. I tried to get across quickly when I saw she wasn't braking but I just froze and put my hands out and yelled! she then saw me and slammed on the brakes! wow! I was on edge most of the day after that. I also know of 3 people diagnosed with cancer...of which 1 passed away last week, the other was given 3 weeks to live (that was 3 weeks ago and I have not heard anything yet)...and the other seems to be hanging in there .....

thank you lord for today

me2, your post reminded me of a couple of things.

One of my favorite memories is from way back when after a huge snow storm my boyfriend and I went for a walk in the evening and fell into snowbanks and threw snowballs at each other and ended up covered with snow. Its just a really sweet memory.

As for the rest. Yes, yes and yes.

I'm looking forward to Xmas Eve, when we drive up to the snow - trying out my new snow gear for MN. and tackling my best friend like I did last year and covering her in snow (last year she had snow gear on - I had jeans on, but I still got her)

Wish our other friend was coming... we would have ganged up...

Three Rings for the Elven-kings under the sky,

Seven for the Dwarf-lords in their halls of stone,

Nine for Mortal Men doomed to die,

One for the Dark Lord on his dark throne

In the Land of Mordor where the Shadows lie.

One Ring to rule them all, One Ring to find them,

One Ring to bring them all and in the darkness bind them

In the Land of Mordor where the Shadows lie.

Enjoy -

Everybody on my moms side of the family being together on Christmas for the first time in nearly 10 years. (its usually pretty close, but we're always missing a few people, for various reasons)

This is the first time in almost as long, that myself and all 16 of my cousins (including a few step-cousins) have been together....

All of them brought their significant others, and kids...

most of the little kids liked me too much.... they wouldnt leave me alone. :eyeroll:  :worried: :goofy:

I think we topped the attendance record this year, with 51 people altogether...

I loved every minute of it.

- another enjoy

every single item of food that I made, went over spectacularly

at least for one more night.

Sad - That's my favorite part of Christmas.

It was a close one this year. Nothing like getting woke up at 6am from a crying kid saying that Santa didn't come.

He came 15 minutes later.

worst santa ever.

maybe less tequila next time

p.s. I'm sure that work party wasn't on Christmas Eve, but that's how I read the posts... picture of drunk CM in sombraro closely followed by forgetting to get presents under the tree.

whew! sarah didn't say anything - don't know if she figured it out or not.

santa not coming "in time" happened to us last year ... we just "check" downstairs first before they come down!!!!

we have always told the kids they have to wake us up BEFORE going downstairs (this is the rule for Easter too!!!) ---

A friend of mine has a 7 year old daughter.... he was just telling me how she found out this year the truth about Santa...

she asked him if he was real, because kids at school were making fun of her for believing in him....

he told her to go ask her mother... which she did

the mom told her the truth...

so she goes back to him and says "mommy says santa isnt real.... does that mean that theres no tooth-fairy either?"

his response: "Yes... theres no Santa, no Tooth-Fairy, no Easter Bunny, and Jesus doesnt exist either"

:eyeroll:

My standard response is if you believe, it is real. If you stop believing, the presents will stop too. Another reason why I found the new Slayer cd in my stocking.

Thanks Santa!
