Matty B\'s is the home of the Cooler Crew. We\'ve got a party going on every evening from 8 until the clue is released. Sunday night, if the hunt goes that long, the bar will be open but food will not be available.

Clues:

Clue No. 1 (Sunday, Jan. 21)
Welcome ice and snow and temperatures low
There’s no time for cold feet!
For searchers’ pleasure we’ve parked the treasure
Where nature lovers each other greet

Clue No. 2 (Monday, Jan. 22)
Boreas\' vast realm can overwhelm
Even diggers used to the long haul
So here\'s advice to put your hunt on ice:
Look no farther than good old St. Paul

Clue No. 3 (Tuesday, Jan. 23)
Hunters can be surly but in clue-time it’s early
Be safe, friends, and in the hunt revel
Near land that is high the treasure is nigh
Vagueness rules and that’s on the level

Fine, Jules. Looking forward to seeing you..u gonna make the PDG?? My daughter is going snowboarding for the first time this Thursday! Whenever I think of snowboarding, I think of you...and vice versa!

She and her boyfriend are going to Afton, I think. He (and their other roommate) are experienced snowboarders...they go out to Colorado and places like that. I would ASSUME she's taking a lesson...I think that's what she said :eyeroll:

Me take a lesson??? Probably never, to be honest. I've only skied a couple of times and I'm not clamoring to do that again, either. Not to say that I wouldn't, I just haven't made it a priority.

The $100 comes off the food bill, assuming we spend at least $100 which I'm sure we will. The down side might be we'd have to negotiate possibly to let people order whatever they want as opposed to having a pre-determined banquet meal. But in my experience with them in the past, they've been fairly accomodating.

Aside from McGovern's and Joseph's...

There's Matty B's, formerly the Rocking Lobster. However, being more of a supper club than a bar, I'm not sure that they really want us there in their "Champagne Room". Also, they just recently stopped serving lunch. A downtown place that doesn't offer lunch? I'm not sure they will even be around next year.

There's the Great Waters which really would be a great option, except the parking there is even worse and they'd also be crowded if there was a game.

Mancini's might be an option though they may also get crowded on a game night. But I know they really work to please the groups that go there.

Beyond that I'm having trouble thinking of any place in St. Paul that could even handle such a big crowd and wouldn't charge a ton for a room.

"and make money from the resulting traffic". I think I found the reason kitch likes this one....

And I didn't even have to ask him

ok- I just got a call from matt B's - they are placing an add in the January 21st newspaper and want to add us to their list of "home of"

keep in mind this is for this year only right now -I did not give the ok to do it yet- I am running it past you guys first - ofcourse!

Hasaan is aware that we use McGoverns as our Pre-Dig and wants to talk with us about using them in the future for that night BUT wants to know if we are interested in using them this year as our official headquarters so to speak...where we would go before getting the clue nightly.

any objections? any slogans they can use? like:

Cooler Crew, home of the treasure seakers

??

any thoughts

thanks,

j

ps, the advertising with the pp is due today for the winter carnival insert and the weeks ads. so any quick input would be graciously appreciated

my official headquarters during the hunt is out in whatever park the medallion is in...

But that's just me

ares

this is official "pre-clue" headquarters, kc. very difficult for you to be out in a park and conveniently get a clue at the same time

personally i got no problem with the place calling themselves our official home. makes a hell of a lot of sense location-wise.

heh, you're talking to a cell phone challenged person anyways. I suppose I could get some sort of cell phone packaed with web browsing to get the clue in the field, but I'm not looking to spend extra $$

My usual plan is to be looking in a park (hopefully the right one), then if I need the clue, I'll go down to the paper, or wait till it shows up online so I can do some research.
