Matty B\'s is the home of the Cooler Crew. We\'ve got a party going on every evening from 8 until the clue is released. Sunday night, if the hunt goes that long, the bar will be open but food will not be available.

Clues:

Clue No. 1 (Sunday, Jan. 21)
Welcome ice and snow and temperatures low
There’s no time for cold feet!
For searchers’ pleasure we’ve parked the treasure
Where nature lovers each other greet

Clue No. 2 (Monday, Jan. 22)
Boreas\' vast realm can overwhelm
Even diggers used to the long haul
So here\'s advice to put your hunt on ice:
Look no farther than good old St. Paul

Clue No. 3 (Tuesday, Jan. 23)
Hunters can be surly but in clue-time it’s early
Be safe, friends, and in the hunt revel
Near land that is high the treasure is nigh
Vagueness rules and that’s on the level

King Boreas aka Ian

I still have that old radio. It's on my front porch now and I listen to the Twins games on it.

I would love to do that.

It also has a "record player" on it. It plays the old 78's. Once a year I put a bunch of those old 78's on the spindle and entertain the neighbors. :pbpt: I'm not sure if they're as entertained as I am though.

Have Mel Torme, Johnny Mercer, Enrico Caruso, Kate Smith, and my favorite, The Old Lamplighter. :goofy: They belonged to my sisters and my parents. Kind of scratchy compared to the new recordings, but fun to listen to!

I should have a porch party!

Hmm.. close to pigs eye. I always wondered why there wasn't more park area down in that section of the city.

I'll add it to the master list.

Thanks for the info!

I really liked the Soucheray article and I remember from when I was really young (mid 80's) that the hunt was a big deal. I remember thinking of the medallion as this huge scepter that King Boreas himself had hidden somewhere. It would be great if the Winter Carnival captivated people as much as it did back then. But alas, until the clues can be read aloud on YouTube accessed with your I-Phone, I don't really think the majority of our society will give a rat's patute! It makes me sad, being around teens all day long and thinking to myself that maybe 5% of these kids would actually find the treasure hunt interesting.

I have 6 or 7 cases of old 78's in my garage. But they are all old classical music, and music from Russia - with writing on them I can't read. Been meaning to get a record player so I can see what is on them.

I hear the rumblings have already started this year that I will be up to something dastardly

gggrrreat :eyeroll:

I didn't quite get the later 1/2 of the article, he began talking about some king on the radio---what is the connection with the hunt?!

I liked how he thought the clues should make sense, as in bus & stop and picnic & table -- maybe thats a clue  --- that we need to put words together for this hunt. Maybe he wants to make ammends and try Como again but with better clues - if its at Como I would think Joe did it.

I have 3 parks to check out the first day, all would make sense given the circumstances I suppose.

BTW, I just thought of it this evening. Anyone think Condie will be memorialized in one of the clues this year? I think it would be very fitting to see him mentioned.

A co-worker was there. She is a friend of the winner, and it was her fourth attempt.

Hey Warrior Woman: Did you get me one of those cool buttons?

also, if anyone is interested, i have the "text" of the archive from pf up online right now. go to the archive page.

it ain't necessarily pretty, that's for sure, and there are some issues: i haven't gotten attachments pulled in yet, and in-line attachments are definitely not in yet. als there are 3 sets of userids i have to match up as my data comes extracted from pf between several database rebuilds, all of which screwed up the userids (for instance, i've got 3 user ids, one of which doesn't have an avatar).

and don't think about searching it yet.

but its at least something since pf is unavailable, if anyone needs to do any research.

one of these days i have to figure out how to parse through the 1998-2002 stuff and incorporate it. given what i've done with the pf stuff, it shouldn't be that hard, but...

that shadow is just sick and wrong.

crazy thing about that archive. it took 3-4 hours to do a run of it to get everything we had there. took damn near 15 to get it all put in the database, and its not even close to done yet.
