Matty B\'s is the home of the Cooler Crew. We\'ve got a party going on every evening from 8 until the clue is released. Sunday night, if the hunt goes that long, the bar will be open but food will not be available.

Clues:

Clue No. 1 (Sunday, Jan. 21)
Welcome ice and snow and temperatures low
There’s no time for cold feet!
For searchers’ pleasure we’ve parked the treasure
Where nature lovers each other greet

Clue No. 2 (Monday, Jan. 22)
Boreas\' vast realm can overwhelm
Even diggers used to the long haul
So here\'s advice to put your hunt on ice:
Look no farther than good old St. Paul

Clue No. 3 (Tuesday, Jan. 23)
Hunters can be surly but in clue-time it’s early
Be safe, friends, and in the hunt revel
Near land that is high the treasure is nigh
Vagueness rules and that’s on the level

I would laugh my ass off if an other racoon had the brains not to eat it, and run to the PP wit it.

Could they be talking Phalen- ice: ice castle- talking about Boreas' , winter carinival symbol. Ice castle use to be at Phalen

so what parks have ice skating?
Sun, 01/21/2007 - 10:04 PM Permalink
Love4Vino

that is where they are getting the ice for the maze too.
Sun, 01/21/2007 - 10:05 PM Permalink
tom

Or an indoor skating rank.
Sun, 01/21/2007 - 10:05 PM Permalink
tom

It says LOOK NO FURTHER THEN ST. PAUL so its not a regional park so phelen is out- Highland could be in because of the skating rank and it being a city park, not a regional.
Sun, 01/21/2007 - 10:06 PM Permalink
Love4Vino

just figured ice skating in general would work fine.

I don't think it's trying to say it's not a regional park. It could be in a park like Phalen or Battle Creek and still be in St. Paul.

Ice could mean it's hidden in ice, or there's a lake or stream nearby, or just that they want the hunt to take a long time so they're not going to give us much information early.

To put something on ice. Doesn't that mean to put it on the side. Why would we want to put our hunt off to the side by looking no farther than St Paul? Great, hear I go again... another year of reading WAY to much into the clues.

on ice... Beer is on ice..

mmmm beer

is there an old ice house ?

ice fishing houses?

KT

It just sounds like a process of elimination clue- we can rid ourselves of areas that are not in St Paul proper.
Sun, 01/21/2007 - 10:12 PM Permalink
Love4Vino

maybe if you look no farther than saint paul, you would be stalling your hunt (i.e putting it on ice?)
Sun, 01/21/2007 - 10:13 PM Permalink
tom

If we can figure out how to interpet the last line of the clue, that would narrow the parks down. It could be what I looked at it as its in a St. Paul park- or you could look at it as its on the St. Paul side of the park. Or it could mean one step too much your fucked.

Cliché: Put on ice, To be

Cliché: Put on ice, To be

Explanation: 1. To delay or set aside.

2. To store.

I can very easily begin to interpret this as saying you are off track if you limit yourself to good old St Paul.

I was thinking along those same lines.

edit thanks for the meaning

cold storage?
Sun, 01/21/2007 - 10:19 PM Permalink
Love4Vino

yeah. the wording doesn't convice me that it's just saint paul.

it's like saying - some months have 31 days in them, how many have 28?

(some will be quick to answer 1 (FEB) but they all do... just not as the last day.

the meat packing plant in ssp?

The more I read the clue, it seems to be saying outside of St Paul which opens up way too many possibilities...
Sun, 01/21/2007 - 10:21 PM Permalink
Love4Vino

are there any of those fancy mini storage units around a park - that offer climate controlled storage areas?
Sun, 01/21/2007 - 10:24 PM Permalink
OT

I like that!

Midway Cold Storage at 2232 Territorial Rd.

Atlas Cold Storage 240 Chester St.

it sounds like you will put your hunt on ice if you just look in st.paul

Boreas (God of the North Wind) vast realm is in the North. Maybe this points outside of St Paul to the northern part of Ramsey County.

I think "Put your hunt on ice" may simply refer to the medallion. Ice= diamonds=valued item.
Sun, 01/21/2007 - 10:27 PM Permalink
excavating stud

Maybe it means the medallion is hidden in a block of ice wrapped in a garter, no wait....

Marley just thinks it means its packed in ice.

so what is up - when I go to the TC page to read the clue - I keep getting a Polar bear Mazda ad...

polar bear...

anyone know where that is?
Sun, 01/21/2007 - 10:46 PM Permalink

It could be hidden in something like a northstar ice package. I think its like ACE Ice or Anytime ICE, I know they have a local plant here in the cities. I think its Anytime ice up in Maplewood-
