Matty B\'s is the home of the Cooler Crew. We\'ve got a party going on every evening from 8 until the clue is released. Sunday night, if the hunt goes that long, the bar will be open but food will not be available.

Clues:

Clue No. 1 (Sunday, Jan. 21)
Welcome ice and snow and temperatures low
There’s no time for cold feet!
For searchers’ pleasure we’ve parked the treasure
Where nature lovers each other greet

Clue No. 2 (Monday, Jan. 22)
Boreas\' vast realm can overwhelm
Even diggers used to the long haul
So here\'s advice to put your hunt on ice:
Look no farther than good old St. Paul

Clue No. 3 (Tuesday, Jan. 23)
Hunters can be surly but in clue-time it’s early
Be safe, friends, and in the hunt revel
Near land that is high the treasure is nigh
Vagueness rules and that’s on the level

The sanctuary itself is out of bounds, but the trail I do not think is.

although i doubt very much ma press would use that particular variant on a theme for a clue.

heh. some how I don't see the cruising website being an approved advertiser with a link on the SPP.

Trail isn't, but it's not yet connected to the sanctuary.

Oh cool, Lilman. I'm looking forward! While I am in St. Paul, I need to remember to stop by my parents' and get my THG.

Right now, I am not looking too much into the clues. This seems like a slowed-down year-after-a-short-hunt clue set. I am thinking that they are either just directing us to St. Paul, or that they contain very minor bits of information (like what the medallion is hidden in, extremely vague descriptions of the park, etc).

Because of destruction in past, i don't think they would go near Vento park. Too many idiots tearing up stuff. No way near something that sensitive, i think.

I do agree with the noodles about larger parks, though.

Well, I am off to class.. I will be on later.

Ares, I like that analysis. Very plausible.

I agree they might be dragging feet these first couple clues.

Minor details.....

On the map of St. Paul and Ramsey County Falcon Heights,Lauderdale and Roseville are not within the city limits. Phalen is 2/3 rds in the city limits therfore it is considered a city park and Maplewood does not take care of the grounds. Keller Park (that is connected to phalen in name only because it's across the street and a mile down the road) is a Maplewood Park.

My thoughts are Hidden Falls?Crosby or COMO :ooh: :ooh:

wolfpac

Nature lover's each other greet could be either Crosby or Hidden Falls since the two parks are ajoining.

BRASS MONKEY I THOUGHT YOU WERE GOING UP TO THE OFFICE TO GET WORK DONE>>>YOUR WORK APPEARS TO BE THE HUNT HE HE HE :pbpt:

I don't get what you mean in reference to Brass monkey
Mon, 01/22/2007 - 11:30 AM Permalink
Brassmonkey

I thought this was work. and I agree with wolfpac, crosby/hidden have a common border and both are nature lovers parks.
Mon, 01/22/2007 - 11:31 AM Permalink
blackcat

IT is but not what I thought you meant :eyeroll:

Long haul= Ford trucks?
Mon, 01/22/2007 - 11:34 AM Permalink
mrmnmikey

I'll be there
Mon, 01/22/2007 - 11:35 AM Permalink
Brassmonkey

I though about that as well, not that far of a stretch.

Speakin' of hot dogs, just have to share this one:

Question: What did the Buddha say to the hot dog vendor?

Answer: "Make me one with everything."
Mon, 01/22/2007 - 11:41 AM Permalink
mrmnmikey

I really hope no one else goes to the sanctuary. There were volunteers down there last summer planting oak trees all over. I'd hate to see them wrecked, or the hunt cancelled, because of destruction of the Vento sanctuary.

Love4Vino

Ok... strange question.

The BV nature trail - does that intersect with any other nature trails/bike paths that go in different directions?

"where nature lovers greet" reminds me when I'm walking my dogs on the nature trails here, and when others are coming the other way, we say hello. I was thinking it could be showing us a fork in trail - or um something?
Mon, 01/22/2007 - 11:43 AM Permalink
mrmnmikey

still bug me that it says nature lovers each other greet.

Why not just where nature lover greet?
Mon, 01/22/2007 - 11:48 AM Permalink
OTiS

That part was bugging me too 3M.

Trails or parks meeting....
Mon, 01/22/2007 - 11:49 AM Permalink
KC0GRN

the BV nature trail is only connected to Cherokee park.

The Vento regional trail is the one that connects Swede Hollow to Phalen. It then continues up through maplewood and instersects with the gateway trail there.

ThoseMedallingKids

I think the structure is just that way to make it rhyme.
Mon, 01/22/2007 - 11:54 AM Permalink
wolfpac

Brassmonkey and me think it's where the 2 parks meet.
Mon, 01/22/2007 - 11:57 AM Permalink
Brassmonkey

I really think that this means two parks meeting each other as in Hidden/Crosby. Plus Hidden is one of saint pauls oldest parks.
Mon, 01/22/2007 - 11:58 AM Permalink
Brassmonkey

I agree with Wolf. The clue is read in a possesive form as the parks themselves are the nature lovers and they meet each other on their common boundry.
Mon, 01/22/2007 - 11:59 AM Permalink
blackcat

Well monkey u know i agree with you.
Mon, 01/22/2007 - 11:59 AM Permalink
OTiS

As do I.... for now I'm going to lean towards HF.... or between Crosby/Hidden falls.

Long haul to get into some of that area.
Mon, 01/22/2007 - 12:00 PM Permalink
blackcat

I anagramed temperatures low = treasure temp owl or low
Mon, 01/22/2007 - 12:01 PM Permalink
blackcat

It really bugs me that you can get the word treasure out of one of the clue words
Mon, 01/22/2007 - 12:02 PM Permalink
Brassmonkey

Also the word low could refer to the lower elevation of hidden/crosby.
Mon, 01/22/2007 - 12:03 PM Permalink
KITCH

THAT WOULD BE EXACTLY UNDER THE BRIDGE.

THERE IS A COOL PAINTED PARK BENCH THERE.

(I THINKS ITS A SCHOOL OR A CLUB THAT DID THIS)

HAS LIKE BUTTERFLYS AND HAND PRINTS ALL OVER IT...RAINBOW OF COLORS...

ALSO...

GREAT VIEW OF FORT SNELLING.

IS ONE OF MY FAV. SPOTS IN THE CITY.
Mon, 01/22/2007 - 12:06 PM Permalink
Love4Vino

each other - bugs me

and

used to - bugs me

I don't like the grammar in either.

The each other is not needed if they would have used the word meet - rather than greet. So that makes me think it might be anagramable or something

isn't it use to? rather than used to? I can't find my grammar book anywhere...
Mon, 01/22/2007 - 12:08 PM Permalink
KITCH

WHICH??

IF YOU HAVE A GOOD ANAGRAM START...POST IT...

ODDS ARE "MARLEY" WILL FIGURE IT OUT FIRST..;
Mon, 01/22/2007 - 12:09 PM Permalink
mrmnmikey

It would still ryme without the "each other"

I dunno, it just bugs me.
Mon, 01/22/2007 - 12:09 PM Permalink
Brassmonkey

I did not remember that bench, I will make a mental note about that? Marcia any input there? Also is there an electronic sign outside the US bank near hidden that would display the Temp?
Mon, 01/22/2007 - 12:10 PM Permalink
Brassmonkey

Bugs me to, it was written like that on purpose. It has to have some Significance.
Mon, 01/22/2007 - 12:11 PM Permalink
blackcat

IT IS USE TO .......NOT USED TO

The improper grammer makes me think of people saying axed instead of asked.... or refering to target as targets...
Mon, 01/22/2007 - 12:11 PM Permalink
ThoseMedallingKids

No, the greet has to rhyme with feet, which is the last word of the second line.
Mon, 01/22/2007 - 12:12 PM Permalink
KC0GRN

7,6,7,6

5,7,9,7

mrmnmikey

Just to throw this out there...

Whats more natural than Beaver Lake?
Mon, 01/22/2007 - 12:12 PM Permalink
mrmnmikey

eachother greet could be maplewood and st paul if you consider beaver.
Mon, 01/22/2007 - 12:13 PM Permalink
blackcat

Phalen also greets St. Paul and Maplewood
Mon, 01/22/2007 - 12:14 PM Permalink
mrmnmikey

If you left out only the words "each other" you still have greet ryming with feet. Right?
Mon, 01/22/2007 - 12:15 PM Permalink
Brassmonkey

exactly, each other is Key.
Mon, 01/22/2007 - 12:18 PM Permalink
ares

either that or its there to get the poetic cadence right.
