Matty B\'s is the home of the Cooler Crew. We\'ve got a party going on every evening from 8 until the clue is released. Sunday night, if the hunt goes that long, the bar will be open but food will not be available.

Clues:

Clue No. 1 (Sunday, Jan. 21)
Welcome ice and snow and temperatures low
There’s no time for cold feet!
For searchers’ pleasure we’ve parked the treasure
Where nature lovers each other greet

Clue No. 2 (Monday, Jan. 22)
Boreas\' vast realm can overwhelm
Even diggers used to the long haul
So here\'s advice to put your hunt on ice:
Look no farther than good old St. Paul

Clue No. 3 (Tuesday, Jan. 23)
Hunters can be surly but in clue-time it’s early
Be safe, friends, and in the hunt revel
Near land that is high the treasure is nigh
Vagueness rules and that’s on the level

While waiting for the next clue, there is confusion on if it is or not in St. Paul. It seams like it can go two ways. It came to me while driving home from a work meeting it COULD mean the park is in St. Paul- but the landmark it is talking about is NOT in St. Paul. As I think on, somehow I came up with the Space Needle at the fairgrounds. The fairgrounds is not St. Paul.

That sounds like stay away from cliffs to me.
Mon, 01/22/2007 - 9:44 PM Permalink
OTiS

Okay I believe thats correct.

The PP press boards posted line one with the word still in the first line.

But Pay Me verified to me that the word still was not in the clue.

Clue writer is telling use we don't have enough information to find it right now.

Terry

First thoughts...I like the highway noodle. I think we are looking at either of the river parks - Kellogg, IM, Cherokee...or Highland.

Of course that could all change by the time I actually think about the clue.
Mon, 01/22/2007 - 9:51 PM Permalink
tom

Its telling us the treasure is near something high
Mon, 01/22/2007 - 9:51 PM Permalink
excavating stud

That clue is screaming Hidden Falls.

It does sound a bit like last year's Pearson clue. If you read the clue carefully, it doesn't actually say go to Highland. But if you don't read it carefully and just grab at it, you will go to Highland. But it really sounds like it's saying it's a place where some land is high (and logically then some land is not). Could be referring to bluffs. Also sounds a bit like the 3rd clue from Crosby I think it was.
Mon, 01/22/2007 - 9:54 PM Permalink
Wicked Nick

I beg to differ with the clue....

vagueness, does definately NOT rule!

CLUE 3

Hunters can be surly but in clue-time its early

Ill tempered, ready to find it hunters

Be safe, friends, and in the hunt revel

chance that the location can be dangerous so be careful

Near land that is high the treasure is nigh

Near cliffs? nigh = near

Vagueness rules and thats on the level.

Thinking a large area of searchable location but level ground (not the cliffs)

I still like Hidden Falls or the point between Hidden Falls and Crosby.

Oh yeah, does anyone remember clue #6 from Merriam, just before it was found?

Before we ever hid this jewel

We devised ways to make it tough

So not just any fool

Can find this diamond in the rough

I wouldn't put a lot of faith into such claims.
Mon, 01/22/2007 - 9:58 PM Permalink
Terry

Now I can sleep on it and dream dreams of vagueness.

I'm sure they are trying to keep us all over the place until later to be sure the hunt goes a decent amount of time.

Goodnight and SCDs all!

What park is IM? I've been doing this for 35 years and you have me stumped
Mon, 01/22/2007 - 10:00 PM Permalink

Nigh Highland

Nigh cliffs, be careful

Vagueness

All points to HF.
Mon, 01/22/2007 - 10:00 PM Permalink
tom

I think the clue is screaming Phalen. The second line says besafe. The serial rapist is in the Payne-Phalen area.

I can see Hidden Falls in the highland area- and wanted to say it could be crosby of the History. I'm thinking Phalen, HF or Crosby

nice reminder Alison..

Be safe and we pledge, neither cliff nor waterÂ’s edge

Figures in your hunting pursuit

WhatÂ’s that you hear?

Please, have no fear. It was there before we moved in.

Sounds a bit similar to the above Crosby clue. Could be referring to the same sort of terrain found in Hidden Falls.
